    Videos like this make me happy I'm alive in 2022! I needed the answer to a VERY specific question (can I convert a BCB stove to use an alcohol stove instead of gels?), googled it, and was given an 8 minute video. Amazing, thank you!

    Hi.
    Great little cookers.
    For the price of them,I just bought two,and use both windshields in one.
    Shortens the cook time a little.
    Regards🇬🇧

    I use Japanese cotton squares, the type " vapers" use for dripper tank cotton.
    2 squares, 30ml of bio ethanol, it burns sweet, 28 mins, and zero mess, smell, etc. try it, the cotton is cheap, about £7.00 for 100, and if you don't let it burn out totally, reusable a few times. I reckon youd get 4 or 5 uses tbh. 👍

    I have the BCB cooker and the solid fuel tabs. I used a piece of TIN foil and made a box twice the height of the BCB inner box. I folded the excess of my box to about 45 degrees outward. Put the wind breaker on inserted the tab and folded the legs in. This minimized the flame spread. Boiled 1 pint in about 8 min. Have on yet done a proper testing, but results are fine by be. Hope you try this out. Thanx for your videos.

    Good stove but fire dragon fuel I can't do as you say it s burn is too volatile and uncontrolled.
    Alcohol stove works a treat with a cross stand in them. though.

    Try cutting the gell block in half I have found it burns almost as long and seal the other half in an air tight container for later use or to get extra cooking time 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Thanks for this video. Our local store sells the cubes 12 for $10 but not the stove; so I ordered two stoves from Finland. I'll try all my alcohol stoves before I think about unfolding the flaps.

    Happy new year. An excellent vid. I have two of these ie one as an emergency backup and the other to accompany my Yugoslavian mess kit. These modification vids really help me get the most out of existing equipment. Thanks

    Thanks for the great video. It looks like I'd be able to use a Speedster 30 ml fairly comfortably in the unmodded BCB. I also like how easy it is to bend the sides down as you demonstrated so I can tweak it as needed. Thanks again and happy new year!

    You need the bottom of the pot to be about an inch above a trangia alcohol stove

    my first 1 of this type is called a "tommie cooker" from the early 1980's, my 2nd is called a "carrie cooker". found some youtube videos about 3 weeks ago on using alcohol burners in these little stoves. the gentleman took 2 mint tins, put carbon felt into them, with a metal mosquito screen top cover as a flame disfuser. been building these here at home. working on 3 sizes. the mint tins used in the video i found. mini-altiod tins, & full size altiod tin. all with carbon felt / metal mosquite screen inside. for the smaller tins, 40mm size mosquite screen patches work. for the larger tin 76mm screen works.

    Loved this. Been using a gas stove (jetboil type) for ages but wanted to try something new so got one of these. Didn’t use it for ages though because I didn’t have any pots. Just bought the small Trangia mess tin and it fits inside nicely… it’s like it was designed for it. I agree about the uncontrolled burn of the fuel tablets. I was thinking about a mod to add some sort of restrictor plate.

    I have an older one, issued in the RN. Its just a flat bed with holes in it. Bit higher off the deck.
    You can use anything in it really, spirit burner, hexamine tabz work well. Fire dragon is not very contrlleable.
    Very goox bit of kit basic will make a brew etc could not mak a heavy meal on it. Just basic stuf like soup beans etc

    Great Video. Just found your channel and subscribed. Just wondering, can one burn meths (denatured alcohol) in the built in cup on the unmodified stove?
    Thank you for your help😀😁

    • @InfoZhedExplore
      @InfoZhedExplore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bradley, appreciate the sub 👍 The metal is bent into place to form the stove. This leaves some gaps in the metal so it is unsuitable for liquids as they will leak out of the unmodified stove. It may be possible to line it with something.

    • @InfoZhedExplore
      @InfoZhedExplore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob, the lighter more refined one is from Firebox it’s their smallest and the other was part of a 2 piece set from Amazon that I picked up ages ago for under £10 if I remember rightly. Prices vary wildly from one week to the next on eBay and Amazon so try not to get caught out by paying over the odds. All the best.

      Hi, one from Firebox as part of an order and the other from Amazon if memory serves correctly. Check out sites such as thebushcraftstore and bath bushcraft store who sell Firebox products as they sometimes have them in stock or search around on eBay. Hope that helps.

      Shame on them lol. I really like the speedster stoves. They work really well, weight is negligible and are really inexpensive. It’s well worth getting different sizes and experimenting with different pots and set ups. Coupled with the BCB stove it’s a great system that won’t break the bank. Happy cooking when you get yours 👍

    I was having a clear out and found some ‘grill’ plates from a toastie / waffle machine grill thing that I don’t have anymore. They appear to be aluminium with a non stick coating on the top side. I’m going to try doing a bit of steak on the BCB. This grill plate is a bit bigger than the stove overall but not massive. I’m not really an active TH-camr so if you fancied trying it for a video feel free to ‘steal’ my idea 😄

      From memory Amazon quite a while now. It was part of a two rack combo. One was square and one rectangle. It was very little money. They used to be on eBay as well. Probably do not sell them any more. Good luck with your search 👍

      with Gore Tex cover!
      As long as I’m warm and dry and can boil water that’s all I need.

      Big but well worth it please believe me.
