    The gradient grey with a copper flash is incredible. There are so many potential combinations of tints and flash coatings. My Transitions amethyst with a red flash are totally cool. I'm a big fan of flash mirrors!

    Yea, I like the idea of Rimless Glasses and having the appearance of not even wearing anything at all and I think I'd like to get a pair from Flair given their offering. I'm also interested in Sunglasses too and will need to eventually get a pair that fit right and don't make me look too boyish. Great Vid!

    Your videos have been so helpful, I’ve sent many to my optician here in California. That said, I feel that rimless glasses are the only way to go; I’ll never go back. Having them tinted as an added bonus.

    An issue with rimless glasses (or any glasses for that matter) is your lens prescription, how wide the lenses need to be to fit your face, whether you need varifocals etc. Even thinner lenses can be a bit chunky with a high prescription, so you can lose the ‘barely there’ aspect of the feel. I only like rimless glasses and will be getting some new ones soon … but with a -5.50 cyl, +1.5 sph in one eye, -3.50 cyl - 0.5 sph in the other. (That’s (mild) keratoconus for you). I think it’s important to consider issues that might come up with high prescriptions. (And the affordability question that come with it!).

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In this size and shape, with the right lens material, the lenses would only be thick if the prescription was over +/- 7 I think

    Heard of Flair from a previous video of yours .
    They look amazing.
    Contacted Flair as I could not find a local stockist .
    Sadly very few places stock them.
    The problem with buying a Flair frame from a optician who is not local is having to return to get the frame adjusted.
    Also you mention buying just the frame from yourself .... but would other dispensing opticians know how to glaze the lens (bear in mind the unique nylon wire design ) ?
    I know Lindbergh have had issues when lens are reglazed incorrectly to their frames.

  • @joebloggs4191
    @joebloggs4191 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I just got a pair of rimless glasses but I had to get Silhouette since Flair nor Lindberg are readily available here and additionally the opticians I got them from gave me 50% discount since I got the lenses from them too, so really it’s a no brainier at that price. Saying that though I don’t understand how rimless frames can be so expensive when you consider what little material you are actually getting. Shame also that Zeiss can’t do a fashion tint combined with Photofusion X!

    • @rabsingh168
      @rabsingh168 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point about rimless being so expensive given so little material is used .
      Nobody seems to provide a good answer and so one s left wondering it all goes on profits !

    • @bharat007ification
      @bharat007ification ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as the price goes for these frames, It's expensive because of the craftsmanship, engineering, innovation and time being put to create these frames. I definitely think they do deserve some profit for the work they've done.

    • @joebloggs4191
      @joebloggs4191 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bharat007ification Nothing against making a profit, that is what a business is supposed to do but sorry I don't see where nearly 400 euros has gone into these Silhouette frames I have, especially when you consider that there is literally less than 5 grams of titanium involved.

    • @thespectaclefactory
      @thespectaclefactory  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there's a HUGE misconception in society that when you buy a product, you're paying for the materials used. That's often only a small component. You are mainly paying for the design (which can take months or years!) and the manufacturing cost (of the equipment and quality standards required to produce something so technically impressive).
      For example, these frames are far more complicated to produce than any acetate frame, which can often retail for significantly more.

    • @joebloggs4191
      @joebloggs4191 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thespectaclefactory Having a business myself I totally understand what you are saying about costs other than the materials and I am the first to defend some perceived expensive goods which get hammered on the internet by those who think it should cost just a few quid more than the cost of parts but in this case sorry I just don't see it. The fact that my optician discounted the frames by 50% on top of the discount they applied to the lenses tells me that there is a huge mark up on the price of the frames, I am sure after giving the discount they must still be making a profit on them so go figure.

    what is the maximum prescription you can pull off with a rimless eyeglass? I have a -5.5 and -6.0. Would a 1.74 high index lens do the trick? I'm leaning more towards a cartier design. I don't want the lens to be too thick around the edges.

    • @thespectaclefactory

    Hello this is a Y11 student who is aspiring to become an optometrist . What advice could you give for the appropriate courses I should chose after secondary school. I have researched for quite some time and the information I have read on becoming an optometrist is still quite unfathomable. It would really help me if you could condense the many options after secondary school into simpler and more understandable terms such as giving me a walkthrough of the best pathway after secondary school for becoming an optometrist. It would also help if you shared your pathway from secondary school to where you are now in your career.Thanks for reading

    For me there are only two options with rimless frames: as close to invisible as possible and very creative as the last one featured here. Everything in between looks questionable. The biggest problem with bold rimless frames is that they focus attention on bridge and sidepieces. Full rim balances out glasses and people just look at your face generally.
    And about durability, com on, it's not a question of how the frame is durable but how the lenses are. Thick and heavy lenses in rimless frame look very questionable. Very thin are fragile.
