- The Man with the Harmonica by Apollo 440. It is originally from the Ennio Morricone score of Once Upon a Time in the West, a Sergio Leone film. The man with the Harmonica was played by Charles Bronson.
the way Tony opens the door to total brightness and the cut to black with this song qued up, a great closer to the episode.

@@myonlyaccount Back in my day, you had to Google the episode name and number and hope someone else had already ID'd the track.
He should have had shades on with the burning Raid eyes.
The empty Bada Bing, Tony looking at those photos in the bathroom and calling for Christopher. Really creepy ending. Haunting.
He sees the tracee photo, ralph kill her 2 seasons back
I got that vibe too.
He was thinking of Tracey not the horse when he killed Ralph
Лучше и не скажешь!
@@steventoshney682 No, he only remembered her when he saw the photograph. Let's be honest, Tony didn't care about Tracy pretty quickly, just like Silvio and the rest. Just a random girl and just dead, yes, it happens
The series is already pretty dark but I think after this episode is where the series takes an even darker turn and never returns to the more light-hearted moments of the earlier seasons.
I agree, theres a sense of apocalyptic doom that haunts the series from then on more and more
With regard to darkness, this series is like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood compared to Breaking Bad and that's why I think I like Sopranos better. I howl with laughter nearly every episodes and it does offer some happy moments. Breaking Bad was great, don't get me wrong, but the The Sopranos, in my opinion, is the best TV show of all time because it's not all darkness, as is the case with life. The Sopranos is not just a show about the mafia.
Old comment, but so true. I laugh so hard at so many scenes and lines before this episode.

'She was a beautiful innocent creature, what'd she ever do to you?'
he's talking about traci
@@newt0830 That's another way of looking at it. Chase wanted the audience to perceive what they thought what Tony meant.
@@smashtilDawn No, there's a reason Tony looks at her picture before the extremely sudden and compelling ending of the episode. Ralph just showed he didnt care about innocent life and couldn't be trusted.
Bovine Intervention did ralph actually set the fire tho?
@@lean4real_11 "NO I DID..NOOTTTT!! BUT SO WHAT..IT WAS A FUCKING HORSE!"
There's a lot theories and speculation on whether he did or didn't. You be surprised to see stuff like other characters wanting tony killed. But if you want more info on this episode..it is available. He justneeds to finish the final two episodes

We've had Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Mad Men etc. Yet The Sopranos still retains its rep as the best show in television history. 👏🏼
With all due respect and the love that I have for Sopranos, for me Mad Men will always be the greatest show ever made. With all due respect....
@@hassankhalid6007 No offence taken pal, it's just my opinion. Mad Men is an excellent choice, it comes in at a close 2nd for me.

This song is great and the episode ending is definately in my top 5. I love when you see Tony walking down the dark corridor of the Bing and then opens the door into the bright daylight then the music and credits kick in, amazing.

Best episode in the show for me
I woke up on my couch in the middle of the night to this playing and it was nightmare fuel
Wish this were available on spotify ;(
Perfect track for an important episode. It incites a sense of dread borrowed from the shock of what had just transpired while simultaneously foreshadowing the realization of a terrible mistake - killing Ralphie was the beginning of the end of the Soprano family, it was a bad move and Tony was cracking under his emotions. Ralphie was useful, smart, well connected and rooted within the Soprano family. Carmine was ready to off his #2 to keep Ralphie in the game, that's how important he was.
👏
It’s also where Christopher started to question his role in the mob and his relationship with Tony. Centuries old rules being cast aside for personal vendettas. “This is a business” inevitably turned into Tony killing or isolating anyone he felt threatened by.
All this over a dead whurse
the best episode of the sopranos hands down imo....thanks for posting
***** season 4 i think they play this during the credits in the episode where tony kills ralph
It really is a legendary hour of television.
Just a great send off to Joe pantoliano, he's a great actor and Chrisy's drug use getting worse is so dark , plus it kinda dives in to Tony sopranos values and morales with fondness of animals and the innocent striper Ralph was screwing. A great all around season , things felt fresh
@Y Benev What do you mean. Ralph has been literally most rude hypocritical ingenious monster till last episode. I feel sorry his incredible tears made you cry... That guy was crushing a 20 year old girls head on a concrete after making her baby
Nope.
I remember this piece of music fondly. It finished up the "Whoever did this" episode perfectly and cemented it as my favourite episode out of all of the seasons. Absolutely brilliant stuff thanks for uploading this!
when Chris pulled out Ralph's wig I was like "SHIT I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING" I was somewhere between feeling sorry for Ralph and laughing my ass off.
What's so amazing about this show is how, in the very same episode, one minute you're sympathizing for Ralph because of his boy going into the hospital, the next minute, you're glad Tony whacked him after being reminded what an absolute cruel shitbag he was.
@akoc18 "That's because you're so high on scag you wouldn't know if he had your mothers muff on his head" lol (I know I'm replying to an 8 year old comment, but I just couldn't resist"
Tony and Chris brought me here.

“You’re the only other person who knows” the way Tony says that line is so chilling

Whoever Did This, The Strong Silent Type and Calling All Cars... best three hours of my life
An amazing cover by Apollo 440! Ennio Morricone's score of Once Upon a Time in the West is absolutely brilliant as many other scores of the same composer. Sergio Leone as a director is a legend and Once Upon a Time in the West is just EPIC! Probably the best western film of all time...Personally, my favourite. As for the televison series "The Sopranos" what can i say? Just an amazing TV programme! My favourite character is Paulie, he is so funny.

@@andresaguero5880 yes
@@umitakdag2689 Uh, i thought it was a 10/10
To me, suspenseful melody represents the anxiety of a recently commited crime and the Harmonica represents Tony's inner insecurity and regret.
The best film composer in the best western in the best series.
Featured on CSI Miami. The best spine tingling tune yet.
I know lol everybody talking about sopranos and here i am like Horacio taking out the bad guys like a scene from the matrix 😂
The episode was about retribution and redemption, both of which are themes of Once Upon A Time In The West, and the man with the harmonica was the 'moral' counterpart of Frank in the movie, like Tony was for Ralphie (as he was his boss, Ralph had to constrict his behaviour). In the episode ending, Tony was looking for his redemption ("Christopher" & the white light) after killing Ralphie.
Ending of one of the best episodes throughout the show... Pure genius!!!
it's now 22 and this music is amazing yes im here because of The Sopranos episode whoever did this which is one of the great episodes of tv of all time
I've loved this song since I heard it several years ago. I especially loved the rather eerie vibe that the harmonica provides.
Quality ! This is the best tune ever to finish off 'Whoever Did This'. Greatest Sopranos episode there's been.
Fitting that this song ends the episode given the themes of Once Upon a Time in the West. Revenge for an old wrong that could not be forgotten.
Took me until reading your comment to realize Ralph's death wasn't about the horse. When Tony's looking at the mirror in the bada bing he sees tracees picture. It was about her.
Damn i gotta rewatch OUATITWest
@@ONX2006 bullshit. He forgot about her. The picture reminded him of Trace’. He killed Ralph over a horse

I always think of Tracee when I hear him say that. She too was an innocent creature who never did anything to Ralph.

I love this song. Managed to get hold of it as soon as I watched the episode. It's amazing when Tony opens the door to bada bing and this kicks in.

Just watched the episode, and then I remembered this theme from one of my Favorite western movies, as well as composer.
Did not come here because of the Sopranos. I came here because I heard this in Starbucks and it sounded awesome, and for some reason it reminded me of the Eerie Indiana theme song. I should also mention, I've never watched the Sopranos, but I do know my sister loves it and so do a lot more people.
There are movie score composers, and then there are movie score Composers. Ennio Morricone is most definitely the latter. Fell in love with him way back when with Man with No Name and even more so with Le Professionnel. The man is an absolute inspiration.
I just understood the choice of this particular soundtrack in that specific episode after watching Once Upon a Time in The West, A smart choice indeed.
It's on the 'Sun' compilation album by Claude Challe on the Chall'omusic label...
brilliant tune, brilliant dub mix... brilliant show, sad it's finished...
a true masterpiece, Morricone was a genius , a great remix also
What an amazing episode this show is shaping up to be as good as the wire if not better
great series, great episode, great ending track. Cant beat the Sops
janice dildoing him made perfect sense. it seems to me that ralph was molested by his mother as a child. it explains his apparent total disdain for women, his desire to be in control while appearing to be dominated, as janice said, his masochism, everything. he was an all-around sick fuck, but one of the more fascinating characters on the show. Whoever Did This was one of the best episodes as well, it was a perfect swan song for him.
K than
I don't know about molested. I think just humiliated/dominated socially, maybe abused in a non-sexual way.
Pie-O-My! Ralphie got clipped, best episode of Season 4!
excellent choice for the ending credits!
+DonUrsulo Tony and Carmela's blowup at the end of season four was pretty great too.
The remix has aged very well, often remixes because of the instruments of a particular era involved don't age well, this is still fresh.
Only with the passage of time can something be declared timeless
Couldn't be otherwise. It's Morricone's, and it's Once Upon a Time in the West (the source).
Pulling the wet and reverb back and forth is a pretty dated concept. Other than that this song is amazing but it's clearly early 2000's.
@@IIchicgo I don't know, I think the reverb thing always sounds good, despite being something of a 2000's vibe
@@Vasily_dont_be_silly agreed- the whole track has huge Massive Attack vibes, which can only be a positive
Finally, found this song! Didn't know the name of the artist or title, but I found it...I remembered hearing this during the ending of The Sopranos. When Tony and Christopher(or Christophaaaa),just killed off Ralphie! There were something spooky about that episode--can't really explain, but it was just eerie along with this song...
this song is great, and so is Once Upon a Time in the West!

A youtube video about the duality of our reality and the Archons is what introduced me to the song. I heard it play at Starbucks today and asked what it was. Love the eerieness of it!
the original song is amazing from the 1972 soundtrack to the film, thank you again and again to the sopranos. great that they basically used the same guitar in this one.
omg. i looked for this song way too long can't bielive i finally found it. The Sopranos FTW!
Poor Pie Oh My, this was my favourite episode.
Just watched this episode for the first time on my 6seasonbinge with the epic production!!! Christopher and Tony were my favorite characters in The Sopranos. Every Character was perfectly designed and episodes were done with amazing talent. If you pay attention, the show is even that much greater; action and drama perfectly entwined in this Series. From all the real world conflict resolution; one can glean a sense of common denigrating familiarity. By the way, this song is the outro to one on the many of kickass Sopranos episodes.
Man, that would fit so perfectly into Westworld
like a glove!
Ultimate revenge song.
So much emotion in this song.
It’s funny, I adore Sopranos, Sergio Leone, Ennio Morricone, Once Upon a Time in the West, and this song. And yet I never noticed that they ended ‘Whoever Did This,’ with a cover of ‘The Man With the Harmonica,’ on my initial watch or my many subsequent rewatches until now. The episode ended and I thought: ‘Wait…OUATITW!?!?’
Crazy to only find out now, 19-years later.
Love this version.
Heard it first in CSI Mia 6-16.
One of the best eps and one of the big turning points of the series.
@OJD33 When I saw the episode for the first time, the ending really sent shivers down my spine (and it still does, every time). The series was so layered with details and allusions that every time you watch an episode you can find something that you missed the first time.
Love this tune. This was origianlly in a 1968 movie called Once Upon a time in the West and was performed by Ennio Morricone.
Cold asf ending and closer to Ralphie's arc. One of my favorited in the series with how uneasy it is.

Sopranos was a different show because it didnt offer alot of weird tropes that modern shows do. It had a mixture of everything. It was a slow build up of story and detail and then when it came time to hit you , it did.
