This month marks year #4 of our double-wide remodel. 80% done at this point. Definitely learned the drywall lesson...the hard way. Yeah, you might save $10 or whatever but then you spend extra hours on the finishing. I left one wall of the original (1983) gypsum board up because it "looked fine" and wouldn't be too bad to tape/mud. I was wrong. Also, mudding around mini-splits SUCK! Glad I'm done going around them (not like you can take 'em down). 200% tired of tools in the house as well. And the dust. The never-ending dust. Anyhow, your place is looking great!
Any progress is good progress....lol.....Yes, Vancouver Carpenter is a great channel with lots of good drywall and mudding tips...I laughed when you talked about the sore arms....I feel ya.....keep on keeping on, see ya on the next one......
Thanks and yeah, I'm living the sore arm phase yet again as I'm working on the front hall, front bedroom and front bath right now. Sooooo muuuuuch saaaaanding! Ha!
Last winter was still pretty cold in here since I didn't have skirting, plus it was just a colder winter. I still don't have skirting but after adding an inch of Styrofoam under the floor joist, giving it that thermal break between the 2x6 boards, and the added r value, it's so much warmer in here. I keep my mini split set to around 73 and it's perfect up front. Up in the back corner of my bedroom I have a temp gauge and it's usually around 65 give or take back there. I turn the mini split to 66 at night and my room is still around 62 when I get up. Not bad at all.
Looks great! I remember what that bump-out looked like in the original vid. Wasn't there a tree growing through there, like it was part of the furniture? We just finished ours...after 32 months.
Ha! Yes, well sort of. It wasn't growing but it was indeed a tree branch! I still have it in my lumber shed and plan on incorporating it in this house somewhere.
What a great New Year treat! You're getting really good with the drywalling. But I'm wondering how you kept your nosey roommates out of the work area while the sanding was going on. 😉

Yeah, I should but I just end up blowing them out with air, vacuuming and such once I'm done sanding. The bumpout is about 6 feet deep and 20' long. Thanks!

You mentioned that it has been mild this season. I'm just curious. How is the place holding up as far cold air infuriating into the home. 😊
