From a musty basement or a litter box that wasn’t maintained properly, to a car or house that has been smoked in, an ozone generator can work wonders in removing the smell. When used properly, an ozone generator can be a safe and effective way of getting rid of almost any smell.

You save our lives! Thank you so very much for posting this product information. We have black mold in our apt & neighbor smokes chain smokes cigarettes like a chimney. Sum landlord does nothing & now I may have asthma. Moving soon & plan to file a lawsuit using REINHARD v. CONNAUGHT TOWER CORP. Thank you again for posting a solution!

Ozone is also used in the bottled water industry. That little empty bit in a bottled water is actually ozone. Just before the cap goes on the ozone is added to extend the shelf life of the bottled water. This gives the bottle of water about a year before it starts going stale. Without the ozone a bottle of water starts going stale in just a few months. 10 years ago when times were tough, I took a job at a water bottling factory.

Water expires wtf? I have cases of water stacked up for emergencies and it’s more than 5 years old.. had a water bottle the other day and it tasted just fine
When I worked for Servpro, we were trained in using ozone generator's, as well as dehumidification devices to get rid of odors. We often had to clean furniture, and then place items in Ozone tents. The generators were also used in whole houses, to help eliminate odors after areas were completely cleaned, then isolated. They do work very well, but responsible use is paramount. @@DD-kn8ic Ozone fields extend into all parts of the home. Although concentration should be centralized for best application. Isolating areas affected by odor, should be thoroughly cleaned of contaminant before ozone generators are utilized. Fires in homes may need additional steps taken, such as structure repair if walls ceiling, or wooden members were damaged as a result of fire. If you are addressing smell as a result of mold and mildew infiltrating your home, have a thorough examination of structure in affected areas. Locate sources of contaminant, such as mold, which adversely affect your health and mitigate sources. Overlapping ozone devices in structures may be necessary, but generally used in a specific area that can be thoroughly isolated for best results. Ozone in concentration for extended periods, can build up to toxic levels if not monitored and kept in check. Venting of ozone from a room or home should be part of the procedure after equipment is turned off.

I stayed at a motel, the lying manager told me the room was non-smoking. I was so ill in the AM, I had to stop my trip. For what little money it would have cost to use the ozone generator. Everybody could have benefited!

Great video. Just rented one to take out cigarette smell from my previous tenant. Worked great. One thing to remember is NOT to paint your walls before using it. Otherwise you seal the smell and it won't work
I just moved into a new house and it has a bad bad smoke smell but has freshly painted walls and new carpets! it won’t work at all in removing the smoke smell now that it’s painted?
@@ahmedkareem940 yes it will. If it was painted with a good paint like Kilz what you're smelling is not from the walls. It's in the carpet, ceiling, vents etc.

I just received the Enerzen 11000 model and plan to run this to get rid of dog and stale cigarette smoke odor in my apartment. Did the ozone help with the dog odor at all?
@@bigbowlowrong4694 Yes, they will remove any organic odor. But if the root cause is not removed, the odor will come back.

I use one for the car and truck and once a year for the bathroom. Keeps things nice a sanitary.
I have the same unit! We pop it in the hockey closet, shoe closets, my mother in laws room. Amazing how well it works!

Thank you!! Noticed a sign was placed with this information next door to apartment unit next to us. We complained about roaches coming to our apartment and figured it was them. They moved out. Also downstairs we think the same thing will happen. Nasty neighbors. We keep our unit clean and were frustrated with lack of response from management until we kept at it and forced them to come to our apartment and see the issue. We documented everything and let them know as well. They came quickly
Ozone itself is relatively odorless, that chloronated smell is the reaction to it battling contaminates. This is what I was told to tell people when I was an Ecoquest Alpine Air distributor back in the early 00's, to start the machines as low as possible when first using because the home environment is usually massively contaminated by volitile organics. After a period of time, depending on the severity of the contaminants, the air will smell fresh and clean, to keep the machine at a set level to maintain environmental freshness, that you will no longer smell the chlorine.

Just be sure to not run the generator indoors while animals are present. Ozone is harmful to living animals (humans included), so run the generator, then AIR OUT wherever it was used before returning pets or people in enclosed spaces. I accidentally turned on my generator while it was pointed towards my face and it is a pretty strong irritant. Smells like an indoor pool (chlorine i guess) but once its aired out all the odor is gone and youre left with a neutral odor.

I use an ozone generator to remove stubborn odors from refrigerator interiors. With a little patience it will achieve what no amount of manual cleaning can.👍

Hi! This is the comment I was looking for. I accidentally used to much "Proof" pest spray in my home... the smell is still fresh and wont go away. Would you recommend this Ozone generator?

Got the cigarette smoke smell out of my Land Cruiser. Had 4000 miles on it and the smell was apparently masked … until about a week later. I was skeptical, but it worked, just took a couple of weeks and repeated tries. But it did work.

You're absolutely right! For that situation, the carpets may still need to be replaced, but the house can be salvaged without too much cost or hassle. Also, many used car dealers use these when getting a car ready for sale that may have been previously owned by a smoker.
I just bought one for this reason . We bought a business from a man who smoked these little cigarette cigar things for 15 years every single day & the place reeks !

They, will work! I had a few bats that were trapped in the attic after a roof repair. Running the machine for about 30 minutes the odor was gone. Well worth the investment!

He states that ozone exposure has "no long-term effects" to humans, but keep in mind that ozone is highly reactive and is great at producing free radicals. These should be avoided as much as possible. Use the timer for an appropriate amount of time for your particular usage and wait at least an hour after the end of the cycle before re-entering the space. Just my 2 cents.
Hey Alex, thanks for chiming in. You’re absolutely right, while ozone can be helpful when used properly, it is nothing to mess around with. I wasn’t aware of how ozone affects the human body at a cellular level. Indeed, free radicals are bad news and should be taken seriously.

I totally did the opposite an hour ago. I made an ozone maker out of 2 industrial units that are rated 24g/h each. Usually the one in the video are not more than 5g/h . I went overboard making the 48g/h. Just completed an hour ago, tested it for 10 minutes. I stood in the toom doing deep breathing, hoping it will purify me internally. and oops..... 😵 .

I went closed the room, and did clearing breathing exercise for a while.

I remember being around an ozone machine years ago. I think we we're poorly educated on how much oxygen 3 air to breath in. I remember it was running a lot when I lived there. I didn't harm anyone but nevertheless I agree it's best not to be present when in use. Thanks again👍
Many ozone generators also have an ionizer feature - it's possible that was what you're thinking of - it has a clean smell, and it's completely safe to run while present, unlike an ozone generator

If you can smell ozone similar to a light chlorine smell and are exposed to it for a long time, it not only effects the lining of your lungs but it will also discolor your skin similar to Rosacea on your face, chin, and throat areas. I use a smaller battery ozone generator in a sealed large plastic tote I use for my hunting clothes/boots. I put them in the box for an hour or so before hunting (longer trips might require reusing cloths several days) even nasty sweaty clothes are sent free after an hour in the box. I still apply a traditional cover sent like doe piss and shower with sent killer soap/shampoo. Since I’ve been using it I’ve had deer/coyotes come within 20 yards of me down wind without spooking there has been a noticeable difference in my ability to hide my sent from game.

I have this exact ozone generator. I've been using it since 2018. It's Effectiveness seems to have decreased a bit in the past year or so so I think I need to clean the corona. But otherwise it's been an excellent tool.

Great video and explanation of the ozone generator, how it works and when and how to use it safely! I am looking at a potential rental property that smells of cigarette smoke and I heard about ozone generators. Seems like a great solution to the problem!
How big of a space is the one you have able to "treat"?
The manufacturer says this one will do 1200 square feet. I'd say the smaller the space the better. If you could go room by room and limit the space to say 200 sq ft that would be much better. It's all about getting a shock treatment.
Just curious if you ever did kill that smoke smell? We just moved into a rental property and the smoke smell is so bad. Wondering if it would be worth it to?
@@joooyceee100 It actually turned out to not be too bad. I did run the generator in a couple of the rooms but I'm not sure if that's what did it or if it was getting the crawlspace encapsulated and dehumidified. I ended up retuning the generator as I don't really have a use for it. You could always ask the landlord if they can try ozoning the property or something!

Yeah works great for cars also. I cleaned a customer car and it was mold under the seat from water and sitting. The ozone cleared it out.

I'm sensitive to fragrances & need to decontaminate my new unit & infected clothes (thirdhand smoking) from another roommate apt.
i bought a portable triangle shaped o3 ozone unit for 39$ a couple days ago and its more than enough. I could smell the weird metallic scent but nothing else so all i needed to do was air it out.

I have this model from Amazon as well; besides plants and animals, would I be able to run it in an office where there is a monitor and a desktop amongst other electronics? Any damage to those types of items? - just curious
This is a great video but I have a question, are these safe to use with electronics in the home? I found the exact one you are showing on Amazon but it doesn't say if it is safe to use around tvs, game systems, lamps and other household electronics.
I've not done any testing specifically with that in mind, but I have witnessed the oxidizing effect that it has on metal. I would remove electronics just to be safe.
They work phenomenally well in cars.
Hi sir I do leather crafts if an leather has a certain smell will a ozone gen dissolve the leather room smell ,would it ve better to take all my leather out then set off the ozone gen then put the leather rolls back in that room
