I can verify this myself as yesterday before this video even came out I had this exact scam happen to me. I was trying to figure out how it was a scam and the person I was talking to was apparently American and lived in NY. They didn't have broken english like the ss in this video so I think it's some marketing campaign. The persons discord account was 5 years old and had an active nitro sub for 2 years.
I was reached out by one of these advertisers for the dominion game. I went through with it since I was curious and the game would always encourage you to buy some limited time character or so. The advertiser was also pushing me to do it but it's not like I got any bucks on me to spend on some random game on Play Store. They also invited me to a server that was supposedly about a certain category in the game and it was growing pretty fast which was very surprising (100 members in a day). Nonetheless thank you for spreading awareness about these clowns :)
I hate how I once fell for one of the scams where they send you an "early access game" and when you run it it locks you out from discord and steals your information. The person on the other side was being very patient and nice so I didn't think it could be something bad. When I downloaded it and saw that the game was very small, I thought something fishy was happening, but I decided to continue, then I ran the file and immediately realised what was happening, deleted discord and it seems like I'm fine

There is a lot, I mean a lot of Discord scams for "Graphic Design Artists," especially if you have your twitch connected. They rob art and sell it as their own to then make you pay an absurd amount of money for robbed art. I've gotten a lot of information from some scammers and they seem to make quite a bit doing it.

At least the ones that finds me from random servers are the ones who are just throw in some random image from their photo gallery and not even check it if it's all the same style or not.
The game promoter scenario is the most logical if you consider tis concept: many people in countries like China who don’t go outside or work (Neets) have to find other ways of making money. Often this leads to online jobs that are quite odd… but easy. like this. The fact that discord is banned in China only cements this.
I remember my friend getting hacked and his brothers account got hacked too, they both sent me a message about “Needing a play tester for their game they made for a collage project” and all I could think was “..But we’re in high school??”
I would like to add that there are open sponsorship oppurtunities out there (I dont want to mention the site names here because I don't want to advertise it), where basicly anyone can apply and you get paid for the amount of new people you recruit and for when those new players reach certain ingame goals. It's not little amounts either, like 2-5 dollar per new user, 5-10 dollar for each one that reaches a level you need to play for about 30 minutes for, 15-20 bucks for each user that plays for 2-3 days and 25 bucks for each user that starts to spend money on it are common in this field. Theres usually a cap of around 20 new players and 1000-1500 dollars someone can earn, but nothing stops you from doing this for multiple games at once. Those people are probably living off of this as their job by pestering people on discord and other social media to play and reach those goals for payout.
I remember I got something like this recently from a user who wasn't even verified in a discord server I'm in and they said they were a "designer" or something like that and my bullshit senses were tingling. Luckily they were banned from the server after I reported it to one of the moderator's of said server so no harm was done. This happened to me on the 25th last month.
There's a bunch of people I suspect to be scammers that seem to be working on this angle of "do you create content on (Twitch, TH-cam, etc.)? I'm a graphics designer, and want to show you my portfolio." I always refuse, because 1) I'm an artist myself, 2) I haven't started my channel yet, and 3) I have strong suspicions they'll post a link that is dodgy, in an attempt to capture information, or maybe try to install malware/trojans etc. on your computer.
something i don't hear talked about as much is how i'm fairly sure scammers (i get the same thing with random texts, calls, dms, and emails) will dm you saying stuff like "hi" to see if you reply and if you do they put you on a list of potential victims and get signed up for more spam. i never accept calls or requests from people i've never talked to (at least, unless it's not something actually potentially worthwhile) and if they ask about money or my personal accounts it's an immediate block. some of them make it look legit too, pretending i played a steam game with them or something but i figure if they're asking if this is my steam profile or if they just say "Hi" from a new account in a random server it's fake and block
Your channel has grown so much since I first subscribed, and it's still some of the most entertaining techie content on TH-cam. I appreciate all the work put into this, thanks bro 🫡
Classic, one of those games where you either spend money, or play nonstop until you get to a point where you also have to spend money. Basically if you have an addictive personality or an active gambling addiction stay far away.
I’m pretty sure that for those type of games, streamers and such can get sponsors for them where they tell their viewers to play the game and then they will get like 5 bucks, but instead of giving them 5 bucks they just advertise it to random people, then they keep the money. I’m sorry if this didn’t make any sense
I've known those sorts of games years ago from being like clickbait-style games on browser or the app store, that basically have the same micro-transaction hellhole with timers to build stuff, that you can pass by paying real life money, wait times for everything and obviously the PVP is skewed towards being Pay-to-Win. They made those shitty ads like Mafia City and such on TH-cam that was a trend as well, none of the ads showed any gameplay and relied on 'low level becomes high level'-types of stories, absurd/gross factor or whatever else. It was them. So I'm not surprised that they are trying to attempt this now on Discord. (Funnily enough, the big companies are trying and are actively doing the same shit to you now as well, and get away with it.)
I want to add information to why they ask for the player ID. it's so they could confirm thst you truly own the character, otherwise it would been counted as fake. many games that offers tasks for points or money, usually will ask for player ID if you go in support of the free money app in order to confirm the task completion.
And also they possibly get paid for how many people they can make to play and somehow possibly they have to prove the amount. At least if i were hire advertisers like these, then i would ask for a proof of their head count.

I fell for this, it sucked alot. Goo to know that NTTS has reviewed it. More people need to know about this.
I got one of these and I instantly knew what it was all about. This type of "game" has been copypasted for decades upon decades, I wish I knew which one was the original or what base they use (though they could probably just hire developers to build it from the ground up tbh).
ah the perks of not having a rare username on discord, almost no one randomly adds me, unless its from a server im in
I just tell them, "No thanks, been a lot scams of people asking the same thing. Though if you really are a game dev, I wish you the best of luck." Then, I never hear back.
ntts saying "izla" instead of "eye-la" is hilarious

This man is so cool. These videos would work as podcasts bc the video is unnecessary.
Edit: (Only the visible part)
Alright so time to grab a bunch of Eustace Bagge's gifs from the What's your offer episode of courage the cowardly dog.
strangely how i still didn't get any AD or any other guys like that in discord
"are you being evil, yes" nah we aint evil we just chaotic neutral
to be fair, the occupancy on the web refers to CPU occupancy
I am actually a business owner in discord and we do graphic designs and editing in our server. and I am sad that we get bad reputation for this and we don't get trusted straight away.
Arnold is like if Jesse Pinkman started doing mobile scams on Discord and looked 100% better.
Tip NTTS forgot to mention or he is just tired: turn off your dms
Chaotic Neutral video. Love it.
If they ask for a screenshot, take a screenshot of another game / or ask how do i screenshot
I literally had this happen to me a few months ago. Good thing i denied, but yeah, she would conversate and keep asking if id want to play it and join them. Its over with now, but damn, seeing this video later is crazy.
All I get is graphic designers trying to sell me stuff for my twitch and when I say I can’t afford it or I’m not interested they say that they can offer me deals and stuff💀
1:29 absolutely unhinged 💀
0:40 i would say nah ill pass my phone cant handle discord and ur asking me to play a realistic graphics game 💀
5:37 Note: most revenue from china
And yes i play honor of kings but in my country they never do shady stuff because players invite their friend to just play together (idk for other countries but in my country they never did it or i just don't see it)
Oh yea, I got one of these. Assumed it was just some weird guy wanting free rewards in a game, didn't know it was weird like this.
