After visiting the Grand Canyon a few years ago for a couple days and being lucky enough to witness a sunrise and a sunset there, it really is one of the most awe-inspiring places I've been to & photographed at. This time-lapse really sums up the beauty of the Grand Canyon. Well done David!
Wonder photography! I really enjoyed your film, the photography, editing, panning and the music you selected. I tried a few time-lapse sequences but when I was there this summer for a couple of days but only one short one turned out. Great work!
@PugetExposure Thanks. I used a Vello Shutterboss remote. They make timers / intevolmeters for different cameras. This one i have fits the Canon G12 and has a sub mini plug.
Actually, right about now (March - April) is a great time. It's starting to warm up on the top of the rim. For day hikes, try the Bright Angel trail. It has good views and turnaround points for different level hikers.
Great video love the music as well, one of the places l love to visit. 1/2 of my life has past, and saddly still do not have the money and just so far away. I pray l will see it before my time. But thanks you for sharing it with us just get me a little close :]
@davidmurphey ahh cheers. I'm looking at possibly doing some similar shots in my home town Cambridge, but ive been really unsure about how to go about doing it. I saw this video and was like 'Perfect'
@TrinitynBeyond The 5D mkII would have been much better. Cleaner shadows with a more "3D" look. It's actually a pretty dumb reason why I didn't do the time lapse with the 5D - I forgot to pack my battery charger on the trip. I had 3 batteries and a charger for the G12. That was supposed to be my backup camera. Well... It did it's job. Thanks!
Not internally. You need to use an external cable release / timer. I used the "Vello ShutterBoss Timer Remote for Canon with Sub-Mini Connection". It's $52 from B&H. Works with all cameras with a sub-mini connection.

Love the video!
Beautiful work - I'd love to have the chance to shoot time lapse there - would you have any recommendations for time of year and locations?

love it. looks so beautiful. just out of interest, in the time lapse parts, when taking the photos how much time did you leave in between the shots?
great video :) what is the name of the song ?
Nice Time lapse. Does the G12 have a built in intevolmeter or allow for a cable release to take the shots?
@JOHartmusic Sunrise was shot at 30 second intervals. Sunset at 15 seconds. Thanks!
New River Dawn (Instrumental) by Bill Leslie.
Thank you.
Does the G12 have a timelapse function?
@31dollars New River Dawn (Instrumental) by Bill Leslie.
Owning a laptop = $900
Purchasing wifi for your house = $300
Having a youtube account, allowing you to comment on and watch this in 1080p = Priceless
