UPDATE: Intuit is making it harder and harder to get the desktop version, and it does require a monthly or annual subscription.
The reseller mentioned in our video is no longer able to offer the Desktop Pro or Premier versions; they only have access to Enterprise.
The best way to get access to Pro or Premier is to upgrade the software. Here’s a how-to article: quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/update-products/upgrade-quickbooks-desktop-pro-plus-premier-plus/L8B6lkyCq_US_en_US
If you are looking for the most cost-effective option, check out the Simple Start version of QuickBooks Online.

We have Quickbooks desktop pro 2021..........have already paid the $550 payroll subscription in January of 2024. We use the tax tables, but have the payroll reports processed by our accountant. Do we have to upgrade to Desktop Pro 2024 ?
We had to use desktop because we have too many employees. We are now using ADP for payroll so I called about switching to online and they said we had to check our targets… what are targets? Glad I found you! Thank you!!😊

hi, i still use QBDT PRO 2018. Do i need to change to online? i only use it for invoicing, statements, capture payments and export reports. i email the invoices/statements through outlook.
Hi Candus, thanks for explain everything so well and clear. When explaining about what discontinuation means there is the online backup discontinuation. What is the online backup? What does it have that can affect us? Could you extent a little bit more on the online backup part? Is it going to affect the financial files?

We have Desktop Pro 2020 right now & are thinking about switching to online, with payroll, it shows they do automated taxes & forms, does that mean they submit our payroll taxes each pay period & file the quarterly & annual reports?
Will i be able to download or import credit card transaction if i allow my QB 2021 to discontinue and don't switch to the subscription?

Intuit has made a lot of changes since this video, and you can no longer get the Pro version of QuickBooks Desktop unless you contact Intuit directly and tell them why you need it. However, starting in July of this year you will not be able to get Desktop any more except for Enterprise.

Have sold my business using desktop pro 2019 plus online. If i drop online subscription can i still use desktop for my bank accounts

If you still have access to QuickBooks Desktop 2019, you can still use it for your company, you just won't be able to use Bank Feeds.

Hi Candus, regarding QD Desktop Pro 2020...the bank feeds feature. Instead of going to QBO, can the bank/credit card transactions be downloaded from the bank into Excel and then uploaded into Quickbooks desktop? Thanks for your response. :)

I currently use QB Pro 2020 and am really not interested in the Online version. If I don't upgrade, would I still be able to send the file to my Accountant?
Colleen, Probably not, but you can send them a back up to open and have them give you any changes and you'll have to enter them.

Is it really true that my data will be less safe/protected once the version is no longer supported? We want to continue to use Desktop Pro 2021 but are concerned about the software no longer being updated and running into compatibility and data safety issues because of it.

I use 2018 pro just for making invoices I use to use their email but when my subscription expired I can't use the email is their a way to change any settings that would still allow me to use this function

If we upgrade our computer will quickbooks 2016 still work properly.
If you still have your original product key and installation disc then you should be able to assuming that your new computer software is compatible. -Sam, Team Candus

I'm a contractor and currently use the 2022 quick books premier plus contractor addition, but need to upgrade. Do you have a link to find the 2023 product or to a reseller. Thanks for any help!

Can I do an external backup when using QB online?
If I have corrupt files will upgrading my desktop version fix these with an upgrade
I would start with the "rebuild" utility. Because you could still have an issue in the newer version.
we also email invoices, and have 5 different companies within quickbooks

If you want to continue using features such as payroll and bank feeds you will need to upgrade to Desktop Pro 2024 or switch to Enterprise because starting on July 31, 2024, Intuit is going to stop supporting any version that is older than 2024. I have QB desktop pro plus 2022. I am not an accountant. I run my personal and real estate business through QB. I also have a non profit I keep the records for. Will I need to pay for 3 businesses? If every time I have a rental LLC is that an additional business? I took over QB when my office manager retired. He used each rental as a separate class. My renewal is in 30 days.

My Quick books desktop pro 2021 get disconnected since June 2023. for now i cannot get access to my files. how will you help me please.

If you have a QuickBooks desktop version that requires an annual fee, then that could be the reason that you don't have access. I recommend reaching out to Intuit to see how you can get access to your file. In may require paying the subscription, if that is what you have with your current version.

Candus, I currently have Premier Contracter 2021, only 2 employees now. I've noticed when I entry time on timecards the actually time doesn't show up on the job cost sheets until the paycheck is created. If payroll is discontinued and I just enter time will it go directly to job cost without payroll add on? I can't use online because I live in a rural area without consistant internet.

Candus, I just watched this as I got the scary notification that my QBDT Pro 2021 will need to be "upgraded" at a high price on May 31, 2024. Even though you did this a year ago, it is still the most concise information I have found. Thanks much. Intuit is impossible as they give a different answer every time! I am a retired CPA and have used QB since it was DOS based (circa 1993). I now keep my husband and myself as separate companies and one little bookkeeping client (friend for free) on the software. I really only need bank feed functionality and I am wondering if I could export from the bank, use 3rd party software to convert and then import to QBDT Pro 2021 going forward without going to 2024. I am very proficient with data manipulation, so mapping and converting files is no big deal to me. If I have to go back to manual data entry, I would almost rather just use paper ledgers lol!

Candice, I have Desktop 2020 - 5 user license. The 5/31 QB "Warning of Death" deadline has passed and it looks like QB WAS able to block our ability to email invoices directly from Quickbooks... ughhh! It is not a subscribed (paid) service so I assumed this would not be an issue. Any suggestions? We can only PDF invoices and then attach and send them individually.
QB is out of control.

I have Desktop Pro 2020 I have multiple companies and I am a seasonable business and do not have payroll only in the winter and is a very small payroll. I do not want to do Quickbooks online. I love my Quickbooks Pro.
