    Great video. Partner saws were better than most , and more advanced for their time. The reason these 55cc saws cut so good is that they have 3.4HP, more than most others of the same displacement The farmer models were cheapened versions of the R models, so they could compete at a lower price in the market. Partner was the first company to make plastic crankcases, so as to cut production costs to compete in the lower price brackets. This was one of the few mistakes they made, but now most companies make plastic saws, so they were ahead of their time. My F-55 is one of my most used and favorite saws, and have been in some of my video's.

      Thank you Sir, Yeah I was suprised by how light the F55 is considering it's age, They run really well! I think I pretty much concluded that I have 1 R16, 2 R17s and the F55 Farmer

      I heard the plastic also helped with the acidity of some trees.

    r-420 and 421t had the heated handles. If you can find the kit with the muffler it will fit your R-17. They have a valve to turn off the exhaust running to the handles but it doesn’t cut it off completely so they can be a little warm in the summer to run.

    Very cool, have you found any more since uploading this? I was buying a used Stihl MS250 that "runs okay" but was pretty thrashed , the guy had a P70 for sale as well. On a whim, I lowballed him $120 for the pair of them and he accepted. Turned out the Stihl was blown up - but this little yellow toaster has quickly become my favorite saw! It came with the weird bumper dog, someone else said those were just for shipping ? I'll find something more aggressive and put a 24" bar with some full chisel loop on it soon. Right now I've just got the 16" this one came with. (not original). Nice to see a saw as old as I am happily munching through wood like the day it was made!
    Would love to find a 100cc some day...

    I have the granddaddy the McCulloch PM1000 ...I first seen them in early 1980's after leaving high school. My first workmate had a Partner. In those days they were the hottest saw out of the box. I always in my mind called them "Cube's" . I hope to buy a Partner 650 soon.

      @@KainKustomGarage I have not got the 1000 going as it's a little altered. It came from the ex great company called New Zealand Forest products which it's great era was the 1950's to 70's.
      I got the 102 cc McCulloch 1950's era goin which is a massive handful and very annoying as if back fire it can hurt fingers as the started handle departs hand so fast. They are noisy as hell. Trick is to never sit Aluminum or Magnesium saws on bare concrete as it reacts. The old saws I have had this reaction but very minor and annoying.

    I have an s50 that I cannot get to oil. Any ideas? The oil in it was like gel I used an air compression and blew it out. I don't think it is clogged. Do these actually have an oil pump that can go bad?

    • @KainKustomGarage
      @KainKustomGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jacob...if I remember right, there is a pump and a pickup under the square cover on the bottom of the saw, or you could try the kerosene or diesel fuel rinse out of the oil tank, sometimes that gets em flowing again! Good luck!🤞🏻
