Mulaney wrote those Stephan sketches. Bill Hader wouldn’t see the script until the night of or during the skit so he never rehearsed them/was seeing them for the first time on air!
@@tierneybla, not quite. Bill and John wrote Stefon's pieces together, then John would change stuff when the cue cards were being written out. The changes were new to Bill, not the entire pieces.
I hate all of the weekend updates and Stefan and every other person who "shows" up. Weekend update is the worst part of the show. Good thing I do not have to watch the entire show and can cherry pick what I want to watch here on the tube..

As a late night Uber driver, I can confirm the girls Halloween sketch is 100% accurate.
Too true. My hubby used to drive Lyft on the side in a college town. Scariest was when he ended up taking a p.k. to the hospital with Alcohol poisoning. He drove the whole load of them to E.R. for free. He used to be any EMT. Poor girl couldn't stand or respond. Her parents were missionaries out of the country. Can't imagine the friends phone call to her parents that night @ E.R.

Does anyone else never get tired of John Mulaney working hard to make Stefon laugh?
John Mulaney is fantastic, of course, and the trick of adding stuff to the cue cards without warning Bill is a joy forever, but let's not forget: Stefon is primarily Bill Hader's creation, with John Mulaney adding fine tuning and additional twistedness. The changes John makes to the cue cards would be nowhere without Bill agreeing to work like that ... and without Wally holding them up 💞

The fact there has not been another David S. Pumpkins sketch is a travesty.
I worry if they did that, it'd feel too much like milking it.
I'm SURE they've tossed around ideas in the writers room, but it all felt rehashed.
Still, they DID do the whole David S pumpkins special a few years back.
@@AC3handle Milking it? They do variations of sketches all the time! The "Whats up with that" sketches comes to mind.. so I dont think that is an issue for them. A second Pumpkins sketch YEARS later isn't milking it. I think the bigger issue is Hanks availability, not milking it or rehashing it. I know they did the cartoon.. that is why I specified a sketch.
