- So many people are heading to Vancouver Island these days Moving to Nanaimo. But look at any Nanaimo Facebook group or message board and you'll see not everyone is happy about it. What's so special about this place? I'll explain what makes this place extra special and what I think the locals don't want you to know!

Rita, you have good audio, but I'd recommend spacing the audio between jump cuts. It's like you are talking constantly without taking a breath. Try adding about 5-10 frames after each cut and it will sounds more natural. And don't be afraid to pause. Your videos will sound much better.

What a great video! My husband and I are moving out there in May. We'll he may have to go ahead of me while I finish selling our place in Alberta but I'm very much looking forward to the new adventure.

This makes me wanna move even sooner! Still hoping for July to move now but we’ll see how much money I have saved! Lol we’re coming to the island for sure in the summer to visit family so will see if my aunts can take me to Nanaimo just to see the areas!

Does Nanaimo have markets and opportunities for small businesses to thrive? I make wearable art and home decor pieces, I am curious about opportunities for entrepreneurs!
I think anything unique will do well here. I know a number of small independently owned businesses that do well just because of the fact that Nanaimo is growing and people want more! If you're asking in terms of markets, there are a number here in the warmer months such as the night market! nanaimochamber.bc.ca/nanaimo-night-market/

My wife is worried it's going to be boring moving to Nanaimo.
What makes her think that?
@Ritaisrelocating : Someone told her it's like a small town atmosphere not very many restaurants not many things to do except go hiking and stuff like that. What's the movie, Community Center swimming pools, events, restaurant, coffee shop etcetera situation like their? Is there a mall in Nanaimo? On the other hand somebody told me it's kind of like West Vancouver near the water where there are lots of restaurants and shops but I'm not sure. Have you been to West Vancouver? She also likes downtown Yaletown what's what's the name of probably doesn't have

pros: the boat is right there so you can get off, at least 2 seaplanes, Nesvog meats, tacomania truck / cons: what is with the insane amount of hobosapiens doing drugs in public, like wow wtf

I find that very strange.
The ferry is unreliable and expensive
yup, got trapped on it for 8 hrs while the keystone coppers investigated a drunk guy and his missing buddy
I hate nanaimo
