    Mr Peyote he is my man. He dances on my head whenever he can! Just when I think the dance is over, he dances more as the night is over. I laugh, and laugh, and laugh as the waitress looks at me odd in the Dennys but doesn't call the cops. 24 hours. The good old days in Madison Wi on Halloween 35 years ago. Never try to eat someone's red mushroom costume after consuming Peyote. They will not understand.

      The strychnine causes you to puke your guts out. It is essentially announcing the trip is starting and if you eating a lot 8-10 you better have someone watching over you cause you will not be in control. It is not, I repeat not a party drug. It does not enhance music. I agree, it is better to do mescaline. in pills if you can find it and know for certain it is real. Better know an organic chemist who makes it from gallic acid. I don't even know how I got here but by the time you made it to the old pyroclastic flow by the side of the road I was charmed. I salute your botanical knowledge and appreciate your running commentary on just about everything, including the expletives. Dr. Terry, thank you for your work and hope and knowledge. (All my cactus up here in Ontario (3) are houseplants so to see a whole world of them down there is amazing.) Thanks! I especially love the idea of staking plants and coming back to check on them, and your true love for plants shines through -you are literally watering plants in the desert. Good on you.

    Drone view is excellent! I’ve acquired 100 Lophophora williamsii seeds. I’ll used crushed limestone in the base. Expanding the cactus garden in Phoenix. Extremely dry. Fingers crossed for monsoon moisture. Very spotty. Makes for humidity. Dust storms. Rain is more like steamy mud drops.

    My 3 Peyotle seedlings became a bit chubby so I measured the diameter...and they are over 1cm/0.4inch now! It took them only 6 years to grow that big. Since YOU can eat a peruvianus or bridgesii don`t even think about touching these grandma`s and grandpa`s!!!

    • @WinterReflections
      @WinterReflections 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes! Too many people selfishly insist on consumption of peyote that they don't know or care how it was harvested, when Peruvian Torch or San Pedro cuttings can easily be found online without harm to an endangered historically significant plant.

    • @MrEiht
      @MrEiht 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@WinterReflections I never ate a Peyotle. For exactly that reason I tried Peruvian Torch. I cut back the plants properly so they can regrow. And still have them. After +20 years. I am too old to take a mescalin journey now plus there is no need too. I just love plants and since it is not illegal to have them in Europe, I take good care of them. Better than mother nature :)

    Loved the video, thanks to your videos on botanics and geology i have a much better understanding of the cacti i grow. I don't consider myself a collector because collectors want to collect and have things to brag of and many times don't care if a plant is poached. Aside from cacti i also love caudex and poaching there is horrible, everything is poached and no one wants to have small caudex only big individuals extracted from nature for example what's happening with Stephania species.
    P.s: loved the rain at the end of the video, it gave me a good vibe thinking how much all those species needed the water

    If you harvest peyote correctly it grows back double mass with several new heads in relatively short amount of time. Ive been growing them for 16 years in pots, in a very natural neglected kind of way. And i have cut a few down just to make en pup several new heads. Within a growing season or two depending on how old and big root it has its bigger in mass than it was when harvested. This is how the tribes harves their peyote, never killing the plant.
    I never tried it either even if i wanted to i probably have to eat my whole collection and still not feeling anything. As ive seen countless reports that their alkaloid content is very low in homegrown plant. Wouldbe nice to see if theres a difference in mine one day as ive "neglected" them trying to immitate natural growing conditions. Im keeping theese plants till i die!
    They are the start of my whole Journey in gardening and plants in general. And still theres no plant i love the most. I had a couple of rough periods in my life and theese plants surviced 2years without watering or anything. I havent repotted them in all this time either. Sure there are growers growing them really fast but they dont look right to me.

    I'd love to come see this place before and after a rain.
    I live in rural Georgia, and that first spring downpour is magical.
    The day before everything is so dead and dormant, it's a landscape of brown and grey, except for our pines.
    The day after it looks like a completely different place, I don't know how they respond so fast. It's like someone airbrushed shades of green everywhere while we slept.

    For a change Tony is varying the videos with stills. Which in terms of production values is a step up. The nice thing about the videos is Tony handling the plants to see distinguishing features. It’s more difficult in stills to find visually plant features for identification. Yet stills offer more clarity about features. This is a conundrum of photography about knowing what’s there. It’s interesting to watch Tony struggle with self expression. The key element of features is how Tony names them. That naming can be very ambiguous in what is what in a photo. Sometimes clarified by drawing lines from words to feature. Never the less humans don’t need such things to know features in the real world. So this struggle for self expression is really exploring what seeing does in the real world.

    That aquatic plant is also known as pennywort or dollar weed and it's actually a pretty delicious edible plant.

    What a treat. I was hoping to hear a mention of Dr. Terry's work since you were in West Texas but as a guest!! On a walking trek!! My knees are garbage so a walk through my favorite desert with plant experts was an unknown dream. I was at Sul Ross studying geology (highly appreciated the rocking commentary) and fell in love with the biology of life there.

    Thank you for showing everybody how beautiful the desert can be ❤️ 🌵
    I cannot understand the logic behind poaching plants that can often be grown from a single pad or leaf or piece of stem, and you can buy pieces rooted from other legit collectors or societies. Idk why you would steal something that gives so freely of itself anyway...

      Some people are just lazy and greedy. Peyote can be grown very easily from seed yet people still pick it in the wild not caring how many years it took to grow not to mention get lucky to grow in a spot that can sustain a bit of life.

      @@billastell3753 I know. I still think those people are ridiculous. Like taking a bucket and stealing water from a public fountain...
