I see the concern. If I was walking around in heavy brush, rocks, areas where I couldn’t see the ground I’d be worried. But here open desert, dirt, and some gravel I’m not too concerned for me. More for the dog that sniffs all over the bushes and in holes

Hey great video fellow Arizona guy good to see their are fish in the canals also you should get a portable air bubbler to keep inside the water with a live bait which will help keep the water oxygenated and keep them alive for you to use
If you are worried about throwing your bait off hook it between the dorsal fin and spine twords the front of the dorsal fin . Wont kill the fish and the bones and cartilage from the dorsal fin give it alot more strength to keep your hook from ripping through the meat . I hook them like that when bank fishing so i can really get a good cast .
Flathead cats get pretty big. From what I have heard, the flathead are huge in the upper Salt river. There's flathead and gray channel cats in the lower Salt river, too. I have caught both fishing the Salt. And I have caught channel cats in Saguaro and Canyon lake on a white 3 inch artificial minnow playing it off the bottom.

You need to fish the Gulf from Florida. Pier and Bridge fishing is fantastic. But you're gonna need bigger gear. Shark is fun to catch. Spent 6 months in 2020 living out of hotels (Covid) and my son and I fished almost every day in Fort Myers. Came back to Az in November of 2020.Now in Casa Grand. Had around $5k wort of Salt and fresh water gear stolen out of my storage. I'm still pissed. Enjoy,I used to fish the canals when I was a kid in the 70's out here.
The reason he doesn't disclose these spots is because they're secluded and if even a few dozen of his viewers show up the spot changes for the worst. I recommend spending some time on google maps and finding some spots for yourself...good luck.

People can still google like you said so either way it only takes 1 person to find his locations some people already know based off background scenery so doesn't make sense. Angler to angler we should be more enclined to share spots so other people to can enjoy what he has. I know the guy really loves fishing but also doing it for the money and thinking his secluded areas are not vulnerable to other anglers then that aint know fellow friend.

My house in Cali. just hit the market and my plan is to move to Kingman. I'm keeping my fishing gear but have no idea what type of fish are in the area. I have light trout tackle, heavier gear for crabbing and my other gear for Cod and bigger ocean fish. I can no longer walk very well but this looks like fun. If there are any waterfowl working those backwaters I'll be tickled to death!!

If you haven’t. Go get your dog rattle snake training. Out here its not if. Its when you run into one. I relocate them on the regular and you are in prime areas for them.
Hook thise gills right infront of back fin above the line that goes across the middle so you don't hit gut area...remember all fish eat bkuegills head first and hooking them that far back is why the flathead came off.
I feel like thoes gaurd rails are super low, i don't get why they didn't make them taller. Im not from there im from oklahoma and all rails ive ever seen were at least waste high or higher.
Where else can a fish hide from the heat of the day but in either deep water, or shade (cover)? Weather will concentrate animals under shelter, even on land. Experienced this during a storm in Colorado. I see very little cover...work what there is. You should try casting a rubber worm across from one side and have it 'crawl' into the water (like a small snake) and swim.
I used to fish those canals when I lived down there. I'll let you in on a little secret, I was a foreman for pulte homes and my brother was one for KB and while we were building anthem, tons of large mouth bass, channel/blue/flathead cats, and of course a couple different bait fish species bg etc all got stocked😂. The key is knowing what lakes hold which. The upper lake/ponds by the train station have some of the biggest bass I've seen. The very lower pond is where the catfish live and is the deepest. I used to go to a little fishing store and would buy waterdogs and let me tell you, the biggest bass and catfish I've ever caught have been on waterdogs in pleasant and horseshoe lakes. Also, on the salt river, where everyone floats, the bass are used to being fed marshmallows and all you have to do is just let it float. Lots of good fishing in AZ, almost better than here, almost.

I'm not sure who stocked those but they are STOCKED! 🤐😂. I used water dogs from an old bait shop that was on Peoria and 35th Ave I believe. On the river was bass only on the marshmallows but makes for really fun top water fishing 👍
The easiest way to keep nightcrawlers alive and big is to just keep them in a small cooler with a little cold water, ice and in very hot conditions, add a blue ice pack
hey, just thought i would HT you this interesting info.. ( that MIGHT apply to you in arazona.... up here in minnesota when river fishing.. ( the minnesota, the mississippi, and the St. Croix River) the DNR asks people to NOT throw carp back in water.. they want us to bring home and burry or throw out carps.. all the hundreds of carps i have landed i would walk about 50 feet then throw fish into the woods for the racoons.. maybe check your dnr to see if they have an invasive species catch and dispatch
The fact that a flathead that size can eat a bluegill that big sort of blows my mind. As an inexperienced fisherman, I would have NEVER thought you could fish with bait fish that large and catch a fish that small (no offense?) on it.

You should try to catch your bait with small lures. Artificials won't likely attract catfish.

They do not have one here. The carp are actually stocked here to maintain the canals.
