  • Interview Malcolm Young (AC/DC). Bon is like the Scottish poet Robbie Burns. And about Brian Johnson: a lesser man wouldn't be around.

      They _could_ have done better. Brian is a one trick pony. He ruins at least 50% of their live shows by not reaching those (way too) high notes live. I think Malcom and Angus just wanted to not get into the sadness losing Bon Scott so they hired the first and best singer, which turned out to be Brian. Being a trooper and loyal doesn`t mean you`re talented.

      Brian was the perfect guy to take over. I think almost no other band has or could have survived the loss of their lead singer (and such a huge personality) as Bon and been able to carry on so successfully. Brian was distinct from Bon but totally fit the band so perfectly.

      @@eltoro969Gotta disagree. He was the right guy, right fit. The success of a band had a lot to do with personalities fitting together, the chemistry. Brian and guys had that, and that’s why they were so consistently successful. You can’t argue with success and longevity.

      Nope. Bon Scott had so much more range and personality in his singing while Brian is just growling out words. Many other singers would have done a much better job in AC/DC but I guess they just wanted to move on fast after Bon died and went for the first guy they liked.

    Brian so good guy but Bon Scott was one of those freaks of nature in terms of his singing. He had this extra gear he could go up into the stratosphere it was a cross between a scream and a solid rock ‘n’ roll note.
    Angus comes across as really down to earth guy here, one of the most impressive things about him is that he’s been a teetotaler his whole life. That’s freaking unbelievable given his Temptations.

    Yeah, that is so cool! I think that Big Balls, altho it's all a joking type song, is one of his most brilliant lyrical compositions. It never gets old, "Crayfish," that was the perfect hilarious word to say at that moment in the song, all sounds so effortless too but so clever. And then Aint No Fun, jeez, that is a great narrative poem with touches of gritty humor. It's the story of rock and roll. "I left my job in my hometown, and headed for the smoke, got a rock and roll band and a fast right hand, gonna get to the top, nothing's gonna stop us, no nothing....you got the dollar, we got the song, gone boogie-woogie all nite long, yeah boogie." Insane! "Got a mama, who's a hummer, she's keepin me alive.." Hell yeah, rock and roll!

    My devoutly Catholic grandmother bought Highway to Hell for me on my birthday in 1979. I would have loved to see that when she did. I still think that is one of the greatest albums of all time. And then when Back in Black came out in 1980 and I heard the title track for the first time I was completely blown away. Loved Bon but Brian filled the void like nobody else could.

    I like both Bon and Brian, yes, I do prefer Bon's voice but that probably has more to do with my youth growing up in 70's Oz. But without Brian, I don't know if AC/DC would still be about or as popular as they are - great band, whatever the line-up and hats off to Brian, 40 years and counting - I think Malcolm is the one that's hardest to replace, it's all on Angus these days. I love both singers. But, as Malcolm said, Bon was an excellent lyricists. I think his lyrics are basically those on Back in Black. I would love to hear a tribute band with a singer who imitates Bon, go ahead and do the entire Back in Black album vocals so that we could hear of Bon’s voice would have matched up with those lyrics. Of course Brian sings like a cannon going off so it’s hard to imagine anyone else singing those songs.

      @@fifthof1795 i don't see any reason why the band would not give credit to bon if he wrote parts of it. Its just an old stupid rumor that ppl still beat to death because they can't stand that acdcs biggest selling album was done with the new guy just after bons passing. I love both singers. Angus addressed this topic directly in an interview not too long ago and explained in detail what happened. They had alot of the music done for it and discussed with one another getting together the next week to go over lyrics and stuff but bon passed before that happened. That has alot to do with why the album came together so quickly alot of the music was done and it just needed lyrics final tweaking and recording. In those days they were coming out with 1 sometimes 2 albums per year so it isn't that unbelievable that they was able to get it done in the time that they did which I think has alot to do with why people can't beleive bon didnt write the stuff. You shook me was the first song Brian wrote with acdc the first line about she was a fast machine she kept her motor clean...brian wrote that because of his love for cars. And has anyone ever thought maybe Brian wrote it in a style that is like what bon would do on purpose to try to fit into the band be just joined? They dedicated the album to bon and gave proceeds to his family to this day from it...which makes the rumor even more stupid in my eyes. If they're already paying money to his family what good would it do them to lie and not give credit to their fallen brother whom they loved? Its just stupid imo. People even say bon wrote the song back in black and that was written about him dedicated to him after his passing. How could that have been wrote by bon? People have been hanging on to that bs for 40 years now its time to let it go. People spread bs around as say it as if its fact that is what causes these ridiculous rumors to start with just like the rumor bon picked his own replacement. He did see Brian perform and raved about him to the band which he never did before or since so it stood out to them and when their producer suggested Brian when they were looking for a new singer they remembered bon Raving about him and the rest is history. So in essence it's as if he picked his own replacement but he didn't literally do that yet everyone is always saying that. Its called people stating things as fact when they in fact DONT know the facts.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fifthof1795 ok I looked at it..bon didn't write it. Enough with the 40 year old rumors and wives tales. People just can't accept that their biggest album was done by bons replacement months after his passing. Angus addressed this topic directly not long ago in an interview and shed some light on the details of what happened and it makes perfect since to me. I don't see where they have anything to gain by not giving credit to their fallen beloved brother if he wrote lyrics on the album its just ridiculous. Ecspecially when you consider the fact they dedicated the album to bon and still give proceeds to his family from it to this day. Naysayers will say see they pay his family money that proves bon wrote it no it proves that they are helping his family out because they loved the guy. Why in the hell would they NOT give him credit when they're already paying his family money what would it benefit them by lying about it? It is just utter ridiculous speculation.
