  • Gun dog training with Jeremy Moore will begin to change as we approach the fall. Here in Wisconsin, we are only about three weeks away from early goose hunting and dove hunting season, with ducks opening not far behind. How do we prepare for the coming season with our gun dogs? We turn training grounds into hunting grounds.

    Great video and what a fantastic facility you are creating. Graham Cox? Now there is a name I have not heard for a while. I used to read his stuff when I got my first lab 30 years ago! Some of the old British writers are great such as Peter Moxon and Keith Erlandson, along with Mr. Cox, obviously. Keep up the good work.

    Great drills! My lab was slow in training compared to hunting as well!

    What fine animals doing what they do best. In regards to sending a dog out for a dummy that isn't there--- it was there, back on the bank with the whistle :)

    Great video! I have an 18 month old working Black Lab, she's fantastic. However when I throw a dummy or ball she goes mad for it, her eyes change and her drive is so high. She won't give it up and runs in circles around me. I have to bribe her for her to drop it and even then if she drops it and I try to pick it up she grabs it. Any advise on why she does this and how I can stop it? I would be great-full.

    Hello.
    Great video.
    A quick question, why do you reakon the two out of 3 labs consistantly refuse to go on the first send off?
    I've had labs like this before, and I'm not convinced its always a confidence thing.... Do you reakon it could become a habit?
    Thanks

    You need to remove the whistle when talking, confusing the dogs unintentionally. (I know you normally aren't speaking while handling) Otherwise awesome content.

    Your to busy with the other dogs to get to those dogs ...what ... you got to many dogs , as much as I appreciate you , I wish I had one of those amazing ones ! Just saying, can't hardly get a good dog here on the far east coast of Canada in N.S. Sadly my labs aged out of my life lot's of ducks n geese , no dog! Thanks for your series ! Ps what do you do if they pick a duck up swim to the other side and won't return or choose to run back around a wide and long pond . Won't swim back , been there ?

    Do you have a video of setting up feathered bumpers?

      We have multiple training series such as "Cody Go Back" and "Bella Be Good" where we utilize feathered bumpers in many different situations. You can see how we utilize them in these different playlists of ours on our channel!

    May I ask why you use canvas bumpers instead of rubber?

    • @DogBoneJeremyMoore
      @DogBoneJeremyMoore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Harley Simmons I find that the rubber ones tend to be slippery and when that happens I have seen dogs get very mouthy and chompy on them. I think they often times firm undesirable behaviors when it comes to delivery, particularly with young dogs. I much rather the feel of the firehose dummy over canvas or rubber. I think they are more realistic feeling and float nice and high as they are cork filled. They will dry out reasonably well if you leave them out before putting them back in the bag.
