I feel like everyone forgot that lots of bows were under 4 lbs in the 2017-2018ish time frame.. I remember all of the expeditions, even the Denali (34 ata) were 3.9 lbs
Nice review. I appreciate you picking one or the other as your favorite and expressing your opinion. So many reviewers don’t want to take the heat of stating an opinion. But we should all recognize it’s just your opinion. Nothing to get butt hurt over. Not too many really bad bows out there these days, after all. Thank-you, bow manufacturers!
Couldn’t agree more!! Thank you for your support!! In all honesty you could pick up any bow in the last 10 years and shoot it no problem ! Bows are all good now days! It’s down to being extremely nit picky when you “choose” a bow
Just to confirm, you have pre checked and adjusted the draw weights, right? Because it’s very common for bows to come from the manufacturer on the hot side. Wanted to confirm this is a head to head comparison, and one isn’t drawing heavier than the other. Thanks again!
@@NMBowhntr draw length too. Matthews is apparently shipping the Lift 33 with an exaggerated draw length. One inch draw is usually worth about 10 fps. so when they produce a bow advertised as 30.0" but it is actually 30.25" they are adding about 2.5 fps to the arrow speed that is seen in tests and probably also in their literature. Sure, 2.5 fps isn't much but when you are selling tens / hundreds of thousands of these bows and competing against the likely suspects the manufacturer wants a "favorable" comparison for folks that can't or wont' dig deep enough to understand the differences.
I’m a bit confused. You say the Lift 29.5 settles well and feels very stable at full draw but in your previous video you said the Lift 33 did not settle and felt stable at full draw? I shot both and both are great bows but the 33 is definitely more stable and settles better than the 29.5 due to the longer riser. Both great bows
He just makes up non-sense honestly. What he said is it settles when you don’t shoot the Hoyt as well. So apparently, the presence of the Hoyt makes the Mathew’s nervous and then doesn’t settle
Haha no what happened was I filmed this video prior to filming the one against the Hoyt, I felt that the Mathews settled very well and then when I put it against the Hoyt you realize it doesn’t settle as well as the Hoyt. So a better what of saying it would be “the Mathews settles well, but the Hoyt settles better”
Will say I bought an Rx7 ultra off your videos, loved it just a long bow for my style hunting. Shot the lift 29.5 and was just impressed. All my complaints other than the grip were addressed. 29.5 lift in all black on the way.
I personally don’t care either way but I’ve watch atleast 7 different TH-camrs do a comparison and also show the draw weight on a scale and the lift blows the Hoyt away everytime. It’s one thing to say it’s 70lbs but another to prove it’s 70lbs
Alpha X 30 vs Lift 29.5 next? I shot the RX8 and 29.5 and liked them both equally well, although neither was set at my DL. I'm going to shoot again with the 29.5 and X 30 at my draw length. Appreciate the speed test as I probably will not be able to do that.
Ya the best thing is most people don’t no geography ya the Hoyt riser is made in Italy I guess they wouldn’t Drive a Ferrari either that’s made in Italy
It's amazing that mathews made a aluminum bow as light as a compound bow, and it cost about 600 cheaper😮😮😮and to be honest the draw cycle of lift is very smooth. The only reason I bought rx8 it's it looks super cool!
Great video. Was curious about this one seeing as how Mathews was kinda misleading on advertising their speeds. Shot the Hoyt and loved it still wanna shoot the Mathews but they’ve got to really impress me to win me over from that rx8
Yeah that is the difference of IBO and ATA speeds. Hoyt uses ATA speeds and Mathews uses IBO. Dont get me wrong the Lift is an incredible bow! I honestly have nothing bad to say about it! But so is the RX8 and so it really comes down to preference and what you look for in a bow!
@@HaxenHunt Also, as I've said in other comments, it has been shown in other reviews that at least with the Lift 33, Matthews produced a bow with a longer draw length than advertised. Meaning the actual DL on the "30.0"" draw bow is 30.25". That extra draw length should pick up about an additional 2.5 fps. That can't be an accident. Matthews engineers know EXACTLY what they engineered and delivered.
I like your videos however, you were absolutely the only one that tested both of these bows and found that the Hoyt was faster. Why is that? Every other test I saw through a Chrono had the Mathews faster.
You should have mentioned that Mathews rated is rated faster than the Hoyt. They’re straight up lying this year with their speeds. Thanks for the review
Your the 1st I've seen that has taken off stubby stab on hoyt for a review, why? Your draw also is very strong and irratic, with noise! . Anyway you could draw with ease?
So I went to shoot Mathews at 2 different bow shops and each time they had the Mathews draw weight at 65 pounds. I made them turn it up to 70 to compare a bow tec and Hoyt and I can see why these dealers did that to Mathews because man it’s a hard cycle to draw. Both Hoyt and bowtec had a way better draw and think Hoyt had a slight better draw cycle plus you get the speed. And Mathews definitely had more jump in the hand after the shot. What Mathews got going for them is the bow looks sexy!lol Hoyts line up is way better trust me! If your wanting a lighter bow then the pse is better than Mathews this year.
I dont see how the matthews would have more jump with the phase dampening rubber they sandwhich between the eight limbs but i guess people have their fantasy’s.
The Lift I shot had the best draw cycle I have ever felt, and I have been a Mathews hater for 30 years and swore I would never own one. I've owned PSE, Hoyt, Pre-Bowtech Diamond, Darton, Obsession and Athens and the Lift would be my choice for a new bow.
Not just this guys but reviews in general. Everyone getting wrapped around the handle with 5-10 fps difference……….its hilarious. And I’m guessing that the majority on here critiquing prob couldn’t put 5 arrows in a pie plate at 50 yards.

Super interesting. Every other comparison I have seen gives the draw cycle to Hoyt. Most of those are the Alpha X 30, but same geometry and cams
I think it would really help to verify the draw weight to have more of an apples to apples comparisons
They were verified off camera, next time I go in to film I will do that in my future videos!
