How To Clean New Balance 990v5

Today we’re working with a dirty pair of the New Balance 990v5. These specific pairs are the Vegan friendly MADE in USA model that features a synthetic construction made without the use of animal or animal by-products, the addition of TPU accents, and Ortholite inserts.
After a long build up, this pair of 990s released in January 2022. The first iteration of the 990 hit shelves in 1982 and has since seen different version releases with updated design and functionality. The 990’s silhouette makes it a staple in any sneaker rotation!
We used the products found in our Premium Kit to clean and look after these pairs. The Premium Kit consists of our Sneaker Cleaner, Sneaker Protector, Odor Protector, and Premium Brush.
First, we remove the laces and then use our Premium Brush to dry brush any excess dirt. This will remove any dirt laying atop the sneakers and will allow an easier cleaning process. Grab the Sneaker Cleaner and spray around the sneaker, focusing on the heavily dirtied areas. Dip the Premium Brush in water and drip off excess water. Start scrubbing in a circular motion on the mesh panels and the faux suede sections. For suede, iterations of these sneakers, do not oversaturate with water, and make sure you dry the suede with a microfibre towel when done cleaning.
Clean the uppers first then move down to the soles and then wipe off excess foam with a microfiber towel and set aside to dry.
Next, you will simply clean the laces by spraying Sneaker Cleaner on the laces, scrub them together in your hands and dip them in water and continue to keep scrubbing. Ring out the water and set aside to dry.
The last process when everything is dry is to re-lace the sneakers and then spray Odor Protector inside the sneakers and on the inner soles. Then use our Sneaker Protector around the sneaker to fight off any dirt and stains.
