This means 240 damage over 4 seconds and not 480 damage over 4 seconds! If you are confused why it is a 4 second channel time instead of 8, it is because spell casting speed also effects channeling speed/rate so the damage ticks are twice as fast

as someone who has put a lot of time into this game, i looked at the perk, the spells damage scaling, and knew it was busted immediately. so idk im having a hard time believing they dont realize what theyve created here. they got an entire build variant around giving up movement for high dmg casting and honestly thats probably the lamest build you couldve given a class that has so many options. sdf cannot get the idea of one taps being fun out of his head after being told countless times its not.
Couldn't agree more. I was at work and saw the patch notes on Discord before playing the game. Then I saw someone's video that they put up that showed the spells and perks prior to the servers being fully up and operational. As soon as I saw that I thought "yup, Sorcerer is busted and going to be insane". Same thing they constantly do... Just roll out completely, off the rails broken updates and go "oh gee, sorry" and will pull it back. I get it that there is no way a team that size can play test at the scale of the player base but this is a complete joke that they pushed this out. Whoever is balancing this should probably be fired at this point. If its SDF, I am starting to think we might all be better off if Nexon wins the lawsuit.

Don't let sorcerer detract from continuous dungeon being half baked, with spawns starting you in looted modules and third partying being a guarantee with the delayed spawns. If only there was a test server to discover these issues before being introduced to the main game...
How I feel as well. This was an unbelievably awesome game and then it just tanked and died so fast. Hopefully a real Dev team can make what this game should have been, some day.
This game peaked during the playtests. Used to love it so much. Miss the old spawns, the old portals, the limited classes, bandages dot healing, the circle closing in to make everything more tense. DaD is a hollow boring shell of it's former self. They had lightning in a bottle and completely shattered and ruined it. It's just not as fun anymore. Too many bad design and balance choices. Sometimes devs don't know when to just leave shit alone and stop changing everything.. Sad.
Sorceror feels fun otherwise, and definitely playable without these massively damaging spells. Personally I'm quite enjoying the class with mud shield being my favorite spell. If I were the devs I would disable those 2 spells for the moment though so they can tweak them to be better. They are just way too unfair. The apex perk is also pretty crazy and unneccesary, people know how to bhop and such and the devs *know* this. I also see people complaining about the continuous dungeon but I feel like that can be solved with some tweaking quite easily. Make the continuous dungeon only allow people in the first 2 minutes and limit the number of portals again (because statics are currently unlimited). With that I feel like there might still be some bad cases but most of the issues would be gone. Too many players per lobby, monsters killing people on spawn, spawning in the crossfire of other players, I feel like that will all be solved for the most part if the number of players joining is way more limited. And the fact people can sorta just leave whenever they want does feel very annoying but that can be solved by making the statics limited again. I'm also quite dissapointed the expressman is gone. I feel like you could incorporate him by just having a really quick mid section between matchmaking like there used to be. Overall I expected socketing to be the most overpowered thing this update but I guess I was very wrong!
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. Im usually a 'look on the brightside' kind of person and was so excited for this wipe. Continuous dungeon and spawns need some serious tweaks and this info just adds to the ridiculousness. Something i havent seen mentioned is the sheer mountain this game has become for new players with this update. My first sub 24 game today was absolute chaos with all the spawning nearby. new (and more casual) players are going to have a really tough time with this patch in my opinion.

How do you get the spell to cast? Most of the times i try to cast it, the spell simply doesnt go out, 80% of the times doesnt go out. When im in highground it always works, but when i try to target an area above or at the same height as the ground im standing in it seems to bug out and dont work.
Biggest aoe in the game, like 5-10 times that of currrent lightning strike, instant cast with perk, 100% casting speed and immobile casting with another. Instakills a whole team. Sincerely do tell me how this got in the game? It takes one test to figure this out. If someone doesn't test it even, from the tooltip math it is obvious. How was this released..?

Every new class that came out was op at least for a few weeks. The problem here is that most people play at wipe and whoever is not playing sorcerer might get too frustrated to continue playing.
There is also another bugg with how the insta cast perk and the 25% cooldown perk interact as well. makes a 15 sec cooldown into a 14 sec cooldown. Also im pretty sure lightning storm is just bugged as it says the damage is supposed to tick every second but it triggers like 3-4 times per sec
100% the class feels terrible without those perks but then feels hilariously OP with them. Def needs a little better base casting stats (slightly higher dmg on a few single spells and maybe some better cast speed) and then perks that *accent* the class, not *make* the class. Another huge issue that is just as bad is the drawback from the giga-damage/castspeed perk is supposed to be that the caster cannot move, but any decent bunny-hopper completely negates that. Sorcerer players are switching their mousegrip and/or adding extra primary/secondary attack keybinds specifically so they can do scrollwheel jumps while combo-casting. The class relies on ranged insta-kills and a developer-disapproved movement mechanic.
yes some of the spells are broken and need to be fixed, however i think that glass cannon sorcerer could be very fun and fit well. give him like 50%health penalty when using apex. with cooldowns on spells being so high dodging and baiting 4 spells isnt that hard
I thought Ironmace was trying to stick to the DnD setting as much as practically possible. It should be the Wizard who gets the bigger arsenal and creating hybrid spells. While the Sorcerer should run around with only a couple spells, only with little downtime.
I guess what they could do is make it so the lightning strikes the ground randomly within the AOE rather than auto targeting any enemies, this could allow for barbs and fighters to potentially run through and gap close the sorc since they can get 350 max move speed now. Running it with time distortion is kind of throwing since it puts the spells on cd for over a minute. Just dodge their 2 high dps spells and then close the gap. They can also fumble by aggroing mobs and getting distracted, I think it only looks this bad in medium to highly skilled hands.
Barb already counters us. Fuck me, whinning melee players always hate on magic damage users. it's a fantasy game, go play Mordhau if you only want to swing an axe.
Yo ryan, fighter main here. spell reflection hard counters the storm, atleast it did for me in normals on multiple occasions. Spell reflection stays active as it doesnt hit the shield, and you take heavily reduced damage. The only viable build in the game against it that I've found so far. Honestly it may be time for shield fighters to learn to aim spell reflects now.
Side note, I have not tested this with a friend yet to see if the damage is reflected or not, but surviving 500 raw instant damage makes you feel like a god
Future of the game look very bleak, constant issues with balance and patches. I don't see the game recovering. Have any game ever recovered after losing such a huge portion of their player base? I cant think of any. Your videos are goated and I feel bad that the popularity of the game affects you directly, you'll do good making vids about anything.
I was running at a sorcerer yesterday with my ranger, was shooting at him decently and I think he was quite down on HP. He was running thru a door, I was running after him but the moment I arrived at the door he came out and one-shot me with whatever spell I cannot even tell because I was just dead instantly. Full HP to dead in less than a second and I did not even saw receiving damage, it really was just full HP to instant death... how in the world is this possible, nor even to mention, is that meant to be balanced. Just to mention, he was at 4 HP when I checked the death cam. 😆 But hey, its a new class, they will hopefully balance it soon enough thou.
should have more spells like wizard, but it should have a cool down of 20s or something, making the class a very breathable and a skill expressive class. or giving it a certain amount of spells to regain from campfire.
don't even play the game but I assume they will be adding gems that counter elec. magic damage/reduce slows or nullify either all together, like a "null whatever gear" set. But since I don't play this game I'm probably way off the mark. I imagine a lot of people are upset by the changes the same as all the other changes before (accepting the ones that benefited their classes). I guess the developer sits there working on fixes to issues people are making videos on, literally watching the videos...while fixing the issues. Most of us can't even imagine what it takes to change things in a game, let alone keep everything else from breaking during the process. Ironmace releasing an overloaded class that has a single ability that’s obviously overtuned while the rest of the kit is useless? Color me surprised! It’s almost like they don’t play the game!
Also, a perk like time distortion is terrible game design imo, it just rewards running away gameplay more, when the class is already based around cooldowns. What im saying is: even if the numbers were balanced, sorcerer gameplay will always be throwing everything you have and running away until you have it again and losing no resources in the meantime. I dont think cooldowns have a place in this game, warlock also basically doesn't use resources, it is annoying but at least their spells dont instakill you.
Like im sorry, you cant convince me Ironmace isn't entirely deploying changes to Production with more than 5 seconds of testing. Like this just needs 1 person testing dmg against a Dummy, testing every single spell with squire gear to notice the damage (in fact, if you just read, you dont need to be smart to realize 100% MPower increase and 100% Cast SPeed may be out of touch, but idk)
im convinced they didnt test it, theres no way after over 2 years of development they still do these beginner mistakes. worst start of a wipe ever so far (at least for me). the continues dungeon has a ton of flaws rn too, people can revenge queue to get back into ur lobby when they die early againt you. u spawn right next to people or sometimes even 2 (yes in solos). the hp change made bards extremely strong in u25 gs (125-130 hp with 30% pdr AND all the music buffs is insane in solo u25) i had more points but i was getting high while typing so i forgot some T-T
Yeah I managed to wipe out 3 squads in a single match with sorcerer and I ain't even that good. I think the instant cast speed but longer cooldowns is nice and should stay that way, but the sheer damage burst is crazy as hell. I'd probably rework Apex of Sorcery to only a 30% damage increase, it would still be viable with Time Distortion but not as crazy, and scale down the damage on lighting storm maybe around 85% of its current state. The spear and the bolt merge spells would be good as they are with the Apex of sorcery nerf I propose.
Actually stopped my update and I'm logging back on poe. There is no way I'm doing the 11th wipe in a row being cooked by ironmace like that. they couldnt balance a book on a table

Sorcerer spells and perks are busted 100%. But honestly that’s not even the worst part of the wipe- The continuous dungeon feature is far, far, far more egregious and awful than the sorcerer one shot. Until sorcerer gets nerfed and continuous dungeon gets reverted, this wipe is not worth playing
Yea as soon as I got enough perk slots this was the first thing I tried and I too was melting entire teams. The nerf is on its way. Sadly the rest of sorc kit kinda fuckin sucks so once again Ironmace makes something op af and in one patch sorc will be dog shit and then starts the yo-yo patching
the instacast lightning orb shield + blink lets you swap items during the blink. letting you pull out a sword and swing immediately upon landing. its actually pretty sick.
Meh i disagree. Barb and barber and longbow ranger have been cancer for so long with very little adjustments made, and barbs keep getting buffs. Let a magic class be busted aswell. If iron mace nerfs it to hard it may actually kill the class, iv been melee and ranger for so long cuz the are busted in hr pvp. i see no issue with having 3 big chunky damage dealers in the spectrum of ranger/rangedphysical, barb/melee, and sorc/magic. This game should have a spectrum of classes and damage profiles, sorc is magic. Its rock paper scissors. Not fair balanced and equal.
I'm on the same boat with rangers and barbs, but i think IM is gonna forget about those issues in pro of nerfing or just disable the class. Barbs still needs so many nerfs e.e

Most fun I’ve had playing dark and darker in a long time. It’s not as easy as you think to use this OP skills it’s very clunky and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could easily be killed. Ranger counters big time. You literally have to stand still to cast that making for easy Headshots.
I understand what you're saying and you are making a good point. It is also reasonable to assume that the novelty of it is part of how scary it seems. However, the current damage numbers are simply overtuned in comparison with other classes

the only thing holding this spell back from being unstoppable is the cast-fail bugs that put it onto cooldown

that's a current bug with some of the Sorcerer spell combinations, the devs are working to fix that but I think it might be server related

yes some of the spells are broken and need to be fixed, however i think that glass cannon sorcerer could be very fun and fit well. give him like 50%health penalty when using apex. with cooldowns on spells being so high dodging and baiting 4 spells isnt that hard
Its so god damn obvious that the devs don't test anything before updating the game and forcing people to play with this trash.
This spell particularly causes problem because its scales like magic missiles on casting speed (the speed of each tick) and magic dmg...

I thought Ironmace was trying to stick to the DnD setting as much as practically possible.
It should be the Wizard who gets the bigger arsenal and creating hybrid spells.
While the Sorcerer should run around with only a couple spells, only with little downtime.
thats what i thought when i saw the trailer. they went a little off-road with this one.
I guess what they could do is make it so the lightning strikes the ground randomly within the AOE rather than auto targeting any enemies, this could allow for barbs and fighters to potentially run through and gap close the sorc since they can get 350 max move speed now. Running it with time distortion is kind of throwing since it puts the spells on cd for over a minute. Just dodge their 2 high dps spells and then close the gap. They can also fumble by aggroing mobs and getting distracted, I think it only looks this bad in medium to highly skilled hands.

elemental bolt is also 50base dmg it flies a bit faster at the start other than the spear and it is on half the cooldown
Yo ryan, fighter main here. spell reflection hard counters the storm, atleast it did for me in normals on multiple occasions. Spell reflection stays active as it doesnt hit the shield, and you take heavily reduced damage. The only viable build in the game against it that I've found so far. Honestly it may be time for shield fighters to learn to aim spell reflects now.
Side note, I have not tested this with a friend yet to see if the damage is reflected or not, but surviving 500 raw instant damage makes you feel like a god
Future of the game look very bleak, constant issues with balance and patches. I don't see the game recovering. Have any game ever recovered after losing such a huge portion of their player base? I cant think of any. Your videos are goated and I feel bad that the popularity of the game affects you directly, you'll do good making vids about anything.

I was running at a sorcerer yesterday with my ranger, was shooting at him decently and I think he was quite down on HP. He was running thru a door, I was running after him but the moment I arrived at the door he came out and one-shot me with whatever spell I cannot even tell because I was just dead instantly. Full HP to dead in less than a second and I did not even saw receiving damage, it really was just full HP to instant death... how in the world is this possible, nor even to mention, is that meant to be balanced. Just to mention, he was at 4 HP when I checked the death cam. 😆
But hey, its a new class, they will hopefully balance it soon enough thou.

should have more spells like wizard, but it should have a cool down of 20s or something, making the class a very breathable and a skill expressive class. or giving it a certain amount of spells to regain from campfire.
don't even play the game but I assume they will be adding gems that counter elec. magic damage/reduce slows or nullify either all together, like a "null whatever gear" set. But since I don't play this game I'm probably way off the mark. I imagine a lot of people are upset by the changes the same as all the other changes before (accepting the ones that benefited their classes). I guess the developer sits there working on fixes to issues people are making videos on, literally watching the videos...while fixing the issues. Most of us can't even imagine what it takes to change things in a game, let alone keep everything else from breaking during the process. I guess that's what it is for all small groups making games that cater to a large audience though, a process. Excellent video though thanks for the information.

Lightning storm is so broken but fails to cast 60% of the time lol
Also, a perk like time distortion is terrible game design imo, it just rewards running away gameplay more, when the class is already based around cooldowns.
What im saying is: even if the numbers were balanced, sorcerer gameplay will always be throwing everything you have and running away until you have it again and losing no resources in the meantime.
I dont think cooldowns have a place in this game, warlock also basically doesn't use resources, it is annoying but at least their spells dont instakill you.
Like im sorry, you cant convince me Ironmace isn't entirely deploying changes to Production with more than 5 seconds of testing. Like this just needs 1 person testing dmg against a Dummy, testing every single spell with squire gear to notice the damage (in fact, if you just read, you dont need to be smart to realize 100% MPower increase and 100% Cast SPeed may be out of touch, but idk)
I use lightning storm as well, and 60% of the time it cancels when i release it normally to cast. It extremely frustrating
im convinced they didnt test it, theres no way after over 2 years of development they still do these beginner mistakes. worst start of a wipe ever so far (at least for me). the continues dungeon has a ton of flaws rn too, people can revenge queue to get back into ur lobby when they die early againt you. u spawn right next to people or sometimes even 2 (yes in solos). the hp change made bards extremely strong in u25 gs (125-130 hp with 30% pdr AND all the music buffs is insane in solo u25) i had more points but i was getting high while typing so i forgot some T-T
just to add the elemental bolt (fire arrows and water bolt combo) does 170 (without buffs) to the head
50 base + 50% headshot multiplier = 75 (+3*3 burn damage), or what am i missing?

Yeah I managed to wipe out 3 squads in a single match with sorcerer and I ain't even that good. I think the instant cast speed but longer cooldowns is nice and should stay that way, but the sheer damage burst is crazy as hell. I'd probably rework Apex of Sorcery to only a 30% damage increase, it would still be viable with Time Distortion but not as crazy, and scale down the damage on lighting storm maybe around 85% of its current state. The spear and the bolt merge spells would be good as they are with the Apex of sorcery nerf I propose.
I was so confused on how I got one shot as a barb with 150 hp by a sorcerer been running the anti knock back perk

Sorcerer spells and perks are busted 100%. But honestly that’s not even the worst part of the wipe-
The continuous dungeon feature is far, far, far more egregious and awful than the sorcerer one shot. Until sorcerer gets nerfed and continuous dungeon gets reverted, this wipe is not worth playing

Yea as soon as I got enough perk slots this was the first thing I tried and I too was melting entire teams. The nerf is on its way. Sadly the rest of sorc kit kinda fuckin sucks so once again Ironmace makes something op af and in one patch sorc will be dog shit and then starts the yo-yo patching
the kit has 3 almost 1 shots
the instacast lightning orb shield + blink lets you swap items during the blink. letting you pull out a sword and swing immediately upon landing. its actually pretty sick.
i can confirm they need to be nerfed : Rogue 110hp one shoted by frostspear xD... Nice we got test server but they aren't tested yet...
Meh i disagree. Barb and barber and longbow ranger have been cancer for so long with very little adjustments made, and barbs keep getting buffs. Let a magic class be busted aswell. If iron mace nerfs it to hard it may actually kill the class, iv been melee and ranger for so long cuz the are busted in hr pvp. i see no issue with having 3 big chunky damage dealers in the spectrum of ranger/rangedphysical, barb/melee, and sorc/magic. This game should have a spectrum of classes and damage profiles, sorc is magic. Its rock paper scissors. Not fair balanced and equal.
I'm on the same boat with rangers and barbs, but i think IM is gonna forget about those issues in pro of nerfing or just disable the class.

Like 3 -4 weeks ago I went back to see if things have went for the better. It was during the item stat change. Bse Gear 40 str barbarian one shotted me out of game again :D

Most fun I’ve had playing dark and darker in a long time. It’s not as easy as you think to use this OP skills it’s very clunky and if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could easily be killed. Ranger counters big time. You literally have to stand still to cast that making for easy Headshots.
