Making the SV650 WORK on TRACK! // How I found the IAM Ladies Skills Day at Mallory Park

- Hey Everyone,
Before Labyrinthitis took hold of me, I managed to complete an IAM Ladies Skills Day!
It was an awesome day and I met so many wonderful ladies!
Mallory Park circuit is privately booked by the IAM for these days and this day was specifically a ladies day!
The IAM also host IAM SKILLS DAYS that are for anyone, so no matter which of the 74 genders you identify as, there is a place for you.
Even though this day takes place on a track, it should not be viewed as a track day but a day where you can learn advanced principles of riding in a safe and flowing environment where you have no traffic coming the other way. It's actually a really good place to better understand your bikes (as well as your) limits, regarding grip, brakes, suspension etc in a safe environment.
For every track session, there was a classroom session prior to it and honestly... there is a lot to be learnt in these sessions.

Ah Mallory… my nemesis… riding for a photoshoot for Practical Sportsbike magazine, I managed a whole 1/2 lap when cold tyres and overtightened Headrace bearings caught me out with a highside. Great vid though Kate, looks like a fantastic day. Brilliant idea these days, regardless of gender etc. keep up the great work and hope you’re all fixed up now. 👍

Nice lines and safe overtakes, great footage. I should have been with you as an Instructor that day but the dreaded Covid prevented it - so disappointed. You witnessed how well controlled these skills days are and everyone I know always leaves with a smile and a bit amazed at how quickly the time goes during the day.

Yeah, i think you would definitely benefit if you had never been on track, gets you used to being on there without being intimidated and the classroom lessons were good too!

Great video Kate, took my IAM many years ago in Uk.A great idea having a safety coarse for cornering skills on track so to improve in a safer environment.They have the same in Sweden called the SMC, which does exactly the same on track improving cornering skills and throttle control.Think you covered it well, and probably promoted it well for the IAM ,Well done Kate, hair looking good😂😎❤️🏍👍🇸🇪

I really enjoyed my day & developed significantly.
I haven't done any other track based training or any track days....I might later try to book California Superbike School (familiar with twist of the wrist (2) book & vid by founder Keith Code)
Not interested in ego nonsense....just want to continue to develop.

I am definitely showing this to 'er on the Stripple' . She doesn't want to do a 'normal' track day - too many boys. Too much willy waving. But I think she would love to go out with other gurls on track and push it a bit, learn a bit. I think she would have a great time in a more controlled environment. I am going to put her on the case. We just did the Pyrenees from left to right and back again and, in the immortal words of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, 'Never 'been a better time, than right now!' This could be just the ticket after the roads we just rode and the chicken strips she just obliterated. Thanks for the idea!
You know what, if you're UK based, I'd definitely recommend a Jamie Witham trackday too! 20 people on track at once ( that's nothing, for a big track like Anglesey, you feel like you have a private track to yourself!) There's no egos, willy waving, everyone there to learn and it's a wonderful day!

tell me Y it is Kate that ladies have got to have their own track day , thought the purpose of the word empowering was that you step up to mix it with the fella`s ! or was it tried and it didnt end well as one woman was using her mirrors as duel purpose !
Nooo, alot of women, this does not apply to all women of course there are exceptions, but by DNA - I think we are generally more timid and less confident in a typically male dominated sport. A women's only day in my eyes is so valuable in helping us to step up our game in an environment that is less intimating. If men want to do a skills day, there's nothing stopping them, but this day is very beneficial to a lot of ladies hence the market for it.
@@UsernameKate was just jesting , its a good thing of course , was simply pointing out that some may be using there mirrors for lippy / make up whilst riding ! hence duel purpose mirrors , think you could make a decent racer Kate if you learn the trade

Track noise limits are among the most stupid things I can think of. I wish an incurable case of pubic lice on people who buy houses close to long-established tracks and then whine about the noise 😡
