That dolphin-dive start maneuver looks so freaking cool. I wonder, would this design still work when you attach a crocodile hinge on the bottom, cause I wouldn't be surprised if this craft was really well at vertical takeoff from land... if the TWR is large enough and the hinge does not add too much weight, of course.
If you're looking to min-max your mass a little more, the slightly larger spherical monoprop tank stores more fuel-per-dry-mass than the minified tanks. Should help you squeeze some extra juice out of these super tiny builds c;
So you're on a first name basis with Gene now, eh? :P EEEven smALLer! That water takeoff was both ridiculous and cool. Awww, I was hoping to see a docking at the mothership. Shucks. Gotta watch me that there stream again!
It looks and feels like a shuttle from The Expanse. Kinda like the knight (the ship james holden and his crew used to inspect the scopuli). Has a "brick" feel. Great design!
You could put small nosewheels on the back as landing gear and a larger gear leg on the front to give the necessary angle. That way you'd be able to use it on land due to the better ground angle, it would likely weigh less, and you'd only suffer from the wheel drag
I just found you and started watching your videos but I'm already addicted to them. I love your style of presentation and I think you're tied for my favorite KSP youtuber. (Stratzenblitz) Please keep them coming, these are great.
What about a small shuttle with a Kraken Drive then it could just fly straight up and down no water or racing along the hills to lift up! And unlimited fuel. bit like a anti-gravity shuttle.
Did you intentionally time the glissando at 8:08 with the widening plasma dome? Or did you time something else in the music and the glissando just happened to line up?
5:57 So the rear gears may be preventing takeoff without a hill or whatever. What I ALWAYS do is move the rear gear FORWARDS some to give the aircraft a bit of leverage to rotate. In fact, all of my best and coolest hypersonic crafts employ this kind of tactic.
this is awesome but i have some tips to slightly improve it, for crew comfort id add a pair of ladders on each side of the hull so if for whatever reason u cant climb up the side you have the safer alternative. i would also suggest maybe adding a RATO system to make it fully ground operational, because its so small literally a sepatron on the belly would do the trick
You can turn it back up with the settings button in the bottom right corner. I have to do that every now and then because TH-cam decided to turn it down.
That water launch technique reminds me of... that one ship? from U.F.O. back in the 1970s. Other than SLBMs, nobody has done anything like this in about 50 years. Good save with the replacement sound effects. I was afraid you would try mouth noises! Your channel is almost relaxed enough for that, but no not quite, sorry, no. Just no.
The flying brick, has an almost industrial look

maybe it'd be possible to remove all of the landing gear and have one bi landing gear that posts it up so it can go vertical
The "dolphin launch" is amazing

love that craft breaching the surface!
Awesome craft, as always. I wish I could live in a world where these sorts of creations exist in real life!
The X85 feels very kerbalish: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_XF-85_Goblin
Wow I was trying and struggling to create a compact ssto at around the same time you uploaded this video. Well made craft!
That water launch was amazing. Folding wings, omg! Your crafts are so cool
A Vaos Video? I am dreaming right now?
Hey nice... enjoyed the substituted music and sound effects... you rock
So you're on a first name basis with Gene now, eh? :P
EEEven smALLer!
That water takeoff was both ridiculous and cool.

I love the sound effects for the engines and explotions
Starfleet headquarters was in San Francisco after all. Could totally be cannon for shuttles to land in water. really cool designs.
You're making me want to make my own version of this, but using zompi-kraken drives for infinite fun.
People talk about dolphin-dive maneuver but I think land landing is too important to ignore...
Unbelievable! I'm definitely going to try a water launched mini-ssto now.
quite the novel launch profile

Never fails to impress.
Adjust the spring tension on the gear to raise the nose a bit for take off
It's a little Shuttle... a Shittle!
Wait... 😲

Ya but, would the part even survive re-entry?
Your creations are amazing! Very inspiring and creative! Good work Vaos

Oh these look VERY cool!!
What mod are you using for the enhanced sound effects of the Rapier jet engine at 7:47?
At 6:20 he said he had to use his own sounds as OBS didnt record audio so it maybe a slowed down Jet engine start up
😎👆
Okay the water jumping is hella cool
Woot new SSTO HYPE!
KSP 1 ❤
I love your content man
Amazing video!
Finally a star trek fan🥲
the scatterer wave that affects ships can be turned off in the scatterer menu when you're in the birds eye view menu of the ksc
The underwater lift off is so damn cool

Yay a video finally. So, is this a wingless hybrid flying boat SSTO :v?

Now I want to make a version of that mothership using Kerbal Flying Saucers and Blueshift 😊
we all love the aerodemonic nose cone
Did you intentionally time the glissando at 8:08 with the widening plasma dome? Or did you time something else in the music and the glissando just happened to line up?
just happened to line up 😎
Maybe a launch ramp facing down into the water so it doesnt have to skimp as much

I loved tuning into the stream! Also, about the spider, it hasn’t returned… yet 😨
Noticed you used the ksp2 soundtrack!
Sounds like shuttle even

damn...
I need to see all these "discarded" designs. Pleeeeeease.
if you turn down dampening to 0 then you should have less wobbliness with the folding wings
anyways great video!
sadly, the wobble comes from the actual connection point between the servo and the fuel tank. 😢
I figure you'd need a bigger, draggier hinge for it to be steady.
Elite dangerous sound effects?
these vehicles are soo cool! I wish i can use them
1:41 omg pls make a tutorial on how to make that, it looks so cool
Missed yet another stream eh?
You should check out the trek drive mod it's very cheaty but you can use the nc1701 and comes with many shuttle crafts.
Link to your crafts?
i watched the stream
Bhahahahaha demonic nosecone?
whats the mod you use for the apoapsis and periapsis thing?

Now launch it from a submerged submarine ;-)

You can make an ssto with 2 parts 😎
