That was by far one of my favorite songs of 2023. Spencer’s vocals are unmatched in that songs the high note he hits at the end of the song is stunning. Musically that song is beautiful. Lyrically it hits like a truck. 10/10 song
Spencer’s vocals are on another level here! This song brings tears to my eyes every single time around 6:34 when he hits that note!! And I’m a guitarist, but the human voice will always invoke the most powerful emotions!
That ending is legitimately one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever heard in my life, I would put that in the pantheon of perfectly crafted passages of music in an already AMAZING song
"That took me on a ride" Thats textbook periphery. The wildest ride they have is Omega "I fuckin love music" That was my exact reaction to the last song on this album, Thanks Nobuo. Happiest metal song there is with some of my favorite guitar riffs ever. Also was written by Mark Holcomb just like this song.
Juggernaut itself is an insane ride. It's the music equivalent of seeing a movie or reading a book. It makes me sad that they'll probably never make another concept album because it's my favorite album of all time. They're just so good at pacing and making you feel.
@@Tony-tg8wq their new album is part of the Juggernaut story, so it's also a concept album! Misha jokingly said "no it's not a continuation of the story, maybe we are just bad songwriters" so people say it's not, but it 100% is, the protagonist finally escapes the cycle and ascends by remembering who he was in life.
this reaction was awesome. wasnt you spewing your opinion all over their art. just appreciation and gratitude in the moment. my fav kind of reaction. spencer is hands down one of the most talented vocalist of our generation. earned my sub :)
@@MarleneMendozaMusic Thanks Nobuo, Wildfire and Zagreus are my top songs off that album you should check out AVRALIZE Bright, Alive and Lotus you won't be disappointed up and coming German band.
I am so glad that i had the chance to see them two times on their last tour in Europe. I would def say that Periphery is one of my favourite bands (or maybe my favourite tbh) and it is really hard to say because almost every song of them has its great unique style but just for myself, Wax Wings is the best song of all time. I feel it every single time when you say "i fucking love music" ❤
Satelites was what made me fall in love with Periphery and I didn't imagine that they could equal or improve a masterpiece like that song until I heard Wax Wings They are my two favorite songs from the band.
I cried like a little baby when I heard that bit at 6:30 in your video. Spencer is so freaking good in singing and transporting emotions! I was kind of turned off when I heard them for the first time back in 2012, but somewhere in time (!) it clicked and he is now my favourite metal singer. Besides Devin Townsend and Mike Patton of course. Much love from Austria!
Marlene I"m subscribing to your channel hoping you do some more Periphery songs. Honestly, this reaction is how I feel with 99% of their songs. Please try Satelites, Reptile, The Way the News Goes, Atropos, Wildfire, Lune or Absolom for some epic Periphery tunes. This band are so underrated except by their fans who love everything they are involved in. I love even watching their "making of" videos showing their writing and recording process. Great reaction to a great song from last year :)
@@MarleneMendozaMusic Please pay attention to him and react to Satélites pls, it was the song that made me fall in love with the band, I highly recommend it
Ok their musicianship and his vocals are unmatched, I highly suggest their songs Satellites, Dying Star, Stranger Things, Scarlet, Reptile (long one but worth it), Heavy Heart, Priestess, The Way The News Goes, and lastly Thanks Nobuo (sorry not sorry they’re my favourite band)
Subscription Earned!!!! I been a Periphery fan for 10 years and get so hyped watching others get the same rush from them that I do! React to more Periphery songs please! Do "Omega" or "Stranger Things" next
Of course they know music theory. lol. You can’t write like this without having solid understandings of time signature and knowledge of scales and modes as these songs are very complex. They may not be PhD level of music theory, they certainly know more than 99% of the planet
If you can recognize how good these vocals are right away, you have good taste. I don't know how familiar you are with metal, but based on your reaction to this, you'd like most of Periphery's stuff. You could check out another song like "Absolomb", that was my first Periphery song and it basically lead to me becoming a metalhead. Or, you might want to check out a band like Tesseract, which is similar to Periphery and has another unbelievable lead singer. Listen to Dystopia from their live album PORTALS.
I second a reaction for Satellites. That is one powerful and moving song. I'd also recommend Reptile if you don't mind doing a 16-20 minute reaction. I interpret Reptile as the sort of song where someone took a screenplay and wrote an epic instead of directing a movie. It's got some good textures, some really heavy bits, great composition, and who couldn't get down with a song about a reptilian alien takeover and mankind trying to take back their freedom?
It’s about Icarus. God gave him wings of wax and said don’t fly too close to the sun. So Icarus, being the mortal he is, did exactly that. I feel like that’s what love is, we get so close to someone and feel the warmth of their heart, like Icarus to the sun. When we have poor wings, like falling in love young and it not working out, is like falling out of the sky and looking at all the pieces falling with you. The memories of said lover following you until you hit the ground, and when you hit the ground, you die as you impact the earth and go beneath it, then you have to climb back up to be reborn, and realize that the surface is where the true beauty is. Those fragments of the wings attached to your shoulders are burdens of ignorance that follow until you declare yourself as not free anymore. You’re free before your first love, after, you’re not. Just a normal surface level until you’re given a set of better wings, or build your own. That’s my take.
“I fucking love music”
Hell yeah. Me to

One of my favourite Periphery songs. I can play that intro riff over and over again and never get tired of it. Glad you got to react to it....
