to reference Misha, they all don't like playing guitar solos especially since they have to play them live lol. they usually would rather let things be instrumental or have vocal parts. But if something really calls for a solo, they all have a very distinct sound to their soloing (Misha's proggier Meshuggahy scales and runs, Mark's liquidy slidey jumpy style, or Jake's super clean and melodic phrasings), so they can usually easily decide which fits the song/part best!
it's funny that Misha has a solo on their first new single because he was the one saying he never wants to play a solo again after the last album

@@ericswearingenmusic9967 this is basically why I'm drifting away from a tonne of modern metal bands lately. But I would like to say that Periphery helped popularize the sound of the ‘genre’. There is no question the impact Periphery has had -and still has- on ‘their’ genre. I always get inspired by listening to new stuff from Periphery, they are innovators and truly unique.

The solo hasn't a single not on the scale, it's not that easy listening or something you'd play your first day. Where's the shitty strat one hundred twenty years before Bon Jovi?! Namastè.

This one actually feels like the periphery I like. Listened to the last album like once or twice and was done with it.

I felt like everything sandwiched between Periphery II and IV was just meh
Clear, Alpha, Omega, III, IV, whatever else they might have written, I just forgot about it
PI was so foundational that I can't blame them for mostly just having cool sections rather than coherent songs, but PII had always remained my most "complete" periphery album
V seems like I might enjoy it though, sounds like an evenly balanced combination of every album they've released previously, not even in a bad way

Bro it's the same shit it was 15 years afo. Nothing has been taken to any heights. Its just regurgitation at this point. Djent was the trap/soundcloudrap of metal and its kinda tiresome at this point. How many chuggachugga breakdown riffs as intros can you really listen to?

It’s true they have similar qualities but neither of those bands have nearly as much of an emphasis on melody as periphery does. I know it’s the meme to say they’re a meshuggah ripoff but that just couldn’t be further from the truth.
