    That was great. Have you thought about making online classes for people that want to learn how to sculpt with Polystyrene? I would take such a class.

    I've DREAMED of having a backyard fill of faeries and glowing mushrooms...now I see what kind of labor and expertise goes into crafting pieces like this!!! Amazing work. 👏

    That was some of your best work in my opinion. You guys really should look into a polyurethane foaming machine. While I'm nowhere near as good as you guys, we do make things for our Christmas display.
    We form up the basic shape in chicken wire, and I mean VERY basic shape, and where needed we fill it with newspaper or plastic bags, then spray it with foam. You have very little waste this way both in spraying and shaping.
    The newspaper and bags just give the foam something, other than chicken wire, to hit and expand on. It expands around the chicken wire and that adds a lot of strength to the already VERY strong foam.
    Again, we're not near the pro carvers you are, but we make some fun cool stuff. We shape it and then add the fiberglass right on the polyurethane foam. We don't have to worry about sticky foil or anything like that because the foam does not melt. Once foam sets up, in just a few seconds, nothing really affects it within reason, I mean as far as what you normally have around the shop or home for building with. You can't dump acid on it or anything like that is what I mean, but if you do, cut it out and fill it in with more foam. No magic.
    We use 3 pound foam, that stuff is like wood, and we just paint it. It's so strong we don't really gain anything by adding fiberglass to it. I mean you can literally walk on 3 pound foam that's one inch thick and not break it. I build Monolithic dome homes and I spray one inch of 3 pound foam right on the ground and we walk all over it laying #4 rebar 18 inches on center right on the foam before pouring concrete for the floor. We drag rebar, jump over concrete forms right onto the one inch thick foam and you can not hurt that stuff.
    A couple of other nice things are if you take too much off anywhere, spray a little more foam on that area, and you're good to go to try again. Also, it gives you a lot of freedom to try different looks and if you don't like it, again spray more foam on it to fill it in, and try a different look. Anyway that's my 2 pennies worth of advice, like you need it. haha Keep up the great work.

    Amazing build to your whole team and that gorilla in other vid is amazing. Questions for you how do you find the fiberglass stick to the aluminum foil as it should just peel off fairly easy and you may already know this but if you use epoxy resin instead of polyester resin it will not melt the eps foam and you won't have to use the foil. Epoxy is a lil bit more just look how they make surfboards using same foam and epoxy resin. Again great job to your whole team. Thanks.

    • @AdenHynesSculptureStudios
      @AdenHynesSculptureStudios  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Travis, thanks for the comment and kind words. The cost of epoxy resin comes out much more expensive than polyester resin, and more expensive than it takes to foil the sculpture. So it's just the route we go down. And the glass fibre sticks to the foil well enough, and once cured, is on there securely.
