Short but to the point video
I suffered oil line failure while on a family trip and was VERY lucky a Toyota dealer near by was able to replace the RECALL issue for free. Plus the A/C Evaporator I changed myself, don’t use Denso replacement as they will fail in the same way by springing a leak. This job is massive for DIY and can be done, to save you about $1,500. Love my 2009 Highlander!

I also experienced the oil line failure on my 2008; however, this was not a Recall, but rather some type of warranty extension, but mine failed after the time period Toyota extended the warranty for, and Toyota would not budge on covering it. I was quite angry especially considering that the replacement part clearly indicates the original design was flawed.

The steering wheel rattling/clunk is annoying.. i tried libercating it for now to avoid replacing. So far so good.

How many miles approximately do the rear hub assemblies and the water pump experience failure? My '08 Sport has about 131,000 miles and just replaced the alternator (original starter and 2nd battery). Water pump pulley has notmuch play. Steering shaft is clunky yes, so considering replacement in near future. Replaced plugs at about 90,000. Also, did have oil leak jetting out of original oil cooler line assembly so I replaced it and it wasn't too bad honestly. Use an OEM Toyota NOT aftermarket part for this job!!! I've heard about sunroof drain tubes clogging up and building water flooding into interior because water wells backing up & not draining properly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated concerning W/P & rear bearings! Thank you!
