Such fantastic acting from the both of them. You can tell Bobby Deniro is having the time of his life playing this character. Mickey Rourkes screams terrify me all these years later. A boss film!
Indeed. There is something just so confident and smooth the way he carries himself in his earlier movies. Brad Pitt couldn't even light up the screen in those roles as much.
When this movie came out - all you heard about was Lisa Bonet and how she was in trouble with the Cosby Show over the sex scene. It is a real shame that all the emphasis was on that rather than the awesome movie that it is.
This scene hit me harder than it should. Hearing him cry "I know who I am" resonates with someone like me who's been suffering a severe concussion that led to memory problems and identify crisis. Many say that embracing cinema with heavy subject matter is unhealthy, but as a person that never had a resolution from that incident long ago, help me feel happy that art shows these various walks of life this constant struggle, regardless of exaggeration. RIP Alan, this is probably the greatest noir detective horror film ever made the Blade runner of its day....perfect in every way..acting scripting cinematography, and the music is haunting....Perfection Alan.
Mickey Rourke was something else. He had all the coolness, beauty and charisma of a Burt Reynolds or James Dean but also all the emotional reservoir of an Al Pacino to Robert De Niro

Mickey Rourke produced the finest performance I can remember in Angel Heart. You couldn’t take your eyes off him for a second, even alongside De Niro. Nobody since has achieved this kind of brilliance in my opinion.

De Niro gives an acting masterclass in how not to overact. This movie is sadly forgotten. Deserves to be hailed as one of the greatest of mystery thrillers.
"But how the world turns! One day, cock of the walk -- next, a feather duster!" Unfortunately, Rourke to a large extent squandered the good luck he'd been given.
