Brilliantly creepy. A criminally overlooked film, and brilliant performance by the Criminally overlooked Mickey Rourke. This scene is amazing- a work of art. It conveys utter desolation and death so powerfully it's hard to watch. And when the heartbeat drops one last time into the music at the end it's devastating. One of the top movie endings ever.
Angel Heart was not overlooked. The movie was deliberately destroyed by critics and boycotted by the Academy after its release, because it did not fit into the petty-bourgeois worldview.
Like so many others ie. "A Face In the Crowd" Andy Griffith's masterpiece, but producer/director Elia Kazan was blacklisted as a commie. @@ichabodcrane2487
This movie puts the soundtrack as a main character with this beautiful leit motiv, just as John Williams' theme in Jaws. And its perfect. I was searching the song in the version of Johnny (player in a long play in the movie).
@@BaronOfTeive Falling Angel. I have no idea how I missed your comment, but it sounds like you found the book. No Country for Old Men, by Cormac McCarthy is a great book. Movie directed by the Coen brothers, great also. If you like the dark…stories.
@@BaronOfTeive And I realized why it took so long to reply. I had foot surgery 8 weeks ago, so I was kind of out of it that whole time. You were talking about the soundtrack from Angel Heart(yes very good) & I go the extra mile regarding the book. Then continue the miles on No Country for Old Men, which doesn’t really compare to Angel Heart. Kind of apple & oranges on comparisons. You But both extremely interesting to me. But I’m to blame for topics; soundtracks, films & books. All very noteworthy, but I may have wandered off the primary subject without realizing it. I was somewhat sedated.
Ive listened to the entire soundtrack and the song that Johnny Favorite actually sings " If I could just hold your charms, again in my arms .." etc is not on there ??
My heart bleeds every time I think about poor Harry Angel, makes me wonder who he really was before the war, before Liebling.
Johnny Favorite waz a devil himself.
Yes it's tragic Johnny stole his soul Harry has no idea what's going on
The best twist in movie ever !!! Awesome Robert de Niro ....
deniero isnt smart enough to understand it, he is jusdt paid to say it
A man remembers his soul is lost. Nothing more, nothing more.
I love how the elevator stops at what’s clearly hell and Harry/Johnny is just waiting for the doors to open for the eternity of torture to begin

Rip Alan Parker
I don't know that he is dead!
What a sad, depressing and macabre music! Perfectly matches with Jonny Favourite´s going to hell.
Donny taking the elevator down in the Trump Tower?
The whole elevator thing is so haunting ;-;
