To me, this is honestly one of the happiest songs in the world... It just makes me think of the feeling that opiates give. What may seem to sad to an onlooker is really bliss.
I remember seeing woodstock 98 on mtv i was about 6 years old. Hard to believe it was 14 years ago and today im listening to the same songs i listened to as a kid. Just trippy is all i can say. But amazing song. I like at the end he has the strings muted and strums over them. " thats a cool sound"
Ive only heard sex and candy and one night I was on acid so I decided too listen too there first album and absolutely left me mesmerized this band is literally perfect
AGH! Why haven't I seen this!? I'm always looking for live Marcy Playground videos! I love this song and this performance and John's voice and EVERYTHING! Thanks! :D
Still love the way he does the intro- combination of strumming and picking. I keep telling myself to look up the tab/chord progression and play it. I wish I could afford a Porsche that comes with opium.... LoL (Yes, i know it's "pusher", but the background noise kind makes it sound like Porsche...when pronounced correctly.) Luckily, my seizures don't come from opium.
@NotIkeman Idk dude, i think that it adds to the affect. He is so down and depressed, while everyone else is happy and excited. It gives that "never alone, alone all the time" affect. I love it
One of the few singers these days whose voice actually sounds exactly like his recordings. Those stupid MTV-pushed woodstock concerts from the 90s lol. Man that was pathetic. Reminds me of the Hippy Music Festival episode of south park People (including me) were basically instructed by MTV as to what was cool for about 15 years. Good thing the M in MTV disappeared. I foolishly believed MTV was the pinnacle of musical talent when in fact I could already play most of the songs I was listening to
You can buy opium pods on the internet, and make a tea out of it, you get a bunch of morphine and codiene, but the price has gone up on them drastically over the past year
Wow, I'm just gonna say besides how great marcy playground is, how cute he was back then. Sorry if that offends anyone. People seem to be so sensitive about youtube comments these days
dude that is definitely not bliss. he's trying to sing about heaven and hell and he's upset because he knows the audience is going to misinterpret and think it's just a 'yay do drugs and dont think' song. thats my interpretation anyway but if you listen to the rest of their music its pretty obvious
its about drugs but not in a good way. pretty well crafted; he says things like "i'm so happy" in a tone that shows he really isnt, showing how drugs make you think youre doing great when you clearly arent
If only more people had listened to their whole album... the whole first album is a masterpiece.
One of my favorite of all time!
It's unmatched
@@torrancebalthis3252 great album - but 2nd one may be better
This album is so sick
@@muzwellI did love shapeshifter but there’s just something about the ST.
Marcy playground is one of the most underrated bands in the 90s. John wazniak just criminally underrated
Man this song hits deep my mom, a junkie, OD on fentanyl and I found her like that blue as the ocean dead as the dirt thank you marcy playground
I never saw the symbolism before
God bless you
There are very few artist that sound better live than on a cd...and this is one of them!!
I never get tired of hearing this one
this song has REALLY stood the test of time... a masterpiece.
In my opinion sex and candy (while being a good song) is at the bottom of the list when it comes to the rest of their stuff....
That was fantastic. I love how he puts so much soul into his music.
that chords progression are a beautiful tribute to Comfortably numb ❤
This is so fucking good
This song sends chills all throughout my body ugh so fkn good
My favorite Marcy Playground song
Marcy Playground is one of the latest and best true alt bands. Hope they keep making music. rock needs it.
I love how he just stops mid song to scratch his ear :) Marcy Playground FTW
Great song. Underrated band. Somebody please tell those screaming fools to zip it
🤣🤣🤣
One of my favorite bands
Not underrated...this is one of two good songs they have...
They're enjoying the Playground
@@bennattj wtf you talking about?
To me, this is honestly one of the happiest songs in the world... It just makes me think of the feeling that opiates give. What may seem to sad to an onlooker is really bliss.
The masses are ignorant, crazy we let then control us like that

I'm going to see Marcy Playground tomorrow at concert!
Absolute best band ever.
If it weren't for the screaming fans, the live version would be better than the studio.
this is a fucking jam if i ever heard one. the world is seriously lacking in respectable popular music at the moment.
Ive only heard sex and candy and one night I was on acid so I decided too listen too there first album and absolutely left me mesmerized this band is literally perfect
Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was the album that floored me on acid.
He has a very unique voice and song writing style. Their songs are great!
"This song is about pain" *crowd surfing, cheering, talking*
I guess it's hard to play a soft enjoyable song when the crowd is going nuts. I don't care though, awesome song with or without a crowd.👍
AGH! Why haven't I seen this!? I'm always looking for live Marcy Playground videos! I love this song and this performance and John's voice and EVERYTHING! Thanks! :D
im just gaggin on all the alrightt.... (so real)

yes and sooooooo much more great music!!!
oh these seizures come from opium
@NotIkeman Idk dude, i think that it adds to the affect. He is so down and depressed, while everyone else is happy and excited. It gives that "never alone, alone all the time" affect. I love it
This is epic
This show was awesome!!!!! So glad to say I was there!!
Amo que este video sigue aquí después de 14 años ❤
Love these guys
i love you, Marcy Playground.
I just hear: this song is about... is about... is about pain 😂😂
Haha same!
Real
00:1 that on kid in a middle school talent show trying to be serious and dark
One of the most underrated bands of all time
Awsome song!!!!!!!
Umm.. this song is about duhh is about, its about pain... - John Wozniak
"...these seizures come from Opium."
I epileptic, and that hit me hard.
this song is sooo good but i cant even listen to it, its just makes me want to use...and ive been clean for 12 months..heroin and oxcontin 80's
hey man still hope you’re going strong
Im 27 years old not to many peoples my age would ever give this a chance and its a damn shame
saw them last night at BB Kings and him and Dylan played this song alone, still effin awesome though
Never did drugs but this song make me feel alright and so happy .......yeah.
this is...so amazing.
I’m alright… I’m just gagging on all the alright.
This has been my slogan for the past few years. Only people who really stop and think about it.... actually "get it".
une merveille
"this song is about uh... its about...its about pain."
can anyone tab this version out?
Great band with lots of great songs that most people don’t seem to know about except for that sex and candy one.
this song is about pain
WOODSTOCK 50!!!!!!!!!
I NEED IT :)
@thedarkpoets. Totally agree!!
Mr JD22 nice profile pic
I was there
zach shepherd same
@woz22 Hear hear the words!! Just jam!!!! luv it thank god there is still som1 left!!!!!!!!!!!!
the only song that keeps me sain
Most definitely.
Great how some people can turn their pain into beauty. I just turn mine into bad habits.
Did they play Gin and Money?
Half the views are probably mine. MP such a great band.
Great song.
This life is about pain
G-D brings me back!!!
@IIIonamatch what do you mean?
Not the venue for this song....what was he thinking putting that on the set list?!
can't say much more than wow
No audio?

Crowd surfing is awkward as fuck. This song though >>>>
You can buy opium pods on the internet, and make a tea out of it, you get a bunch of morphine and codiene, but the price has gone up on them drastically over the past year
he is literally the Kurt Cobain from another dimension
This sounds like Comfortably Numb , by Pink Floyd , almost the same chords
i hadn't noticed that... it's like a baby sister of comfortably numb
Heroin-comfortably numb.
But way better
@IIIonamatch Well yeah, he doesn't sound to happy though.
mmazing in concert
Best song wen you are on oxycotin
Lol pussy used to bang dope to this , nothin like it
Fucking hate this song and love it at the same time. I listened to this after every drink of codeine and later after every shot of heroin or oxy.💔
Best song when your on heroin. Oh my pusher come with opium
cant fucking like it enough. not encouraging it but this is the perfect song to listen to on opium.
'latest'?!
@woz22 You know that has nothing to do with NA. Somebody in NA would talk to you like john is...
Marcy Playgrounds songs have feeling. Justin Biebers and most of todays pop music is empty.
Their first album has no skips, 10/10 album for me but god damn that opening line sounds like shit here 😂
@111thRutlandReapers Glycerine? Lol
Dude youtube isn't NA, go preach at an NA meeting. Just enjoy the music
Comfortably numb on drugs
dear sirsparky121, you're obviously not listening to the song.....
Wow, I'm just gonna say besides how great marcy playground is, how cute he was back then. Sorry if that offends anyone. People seem to be so sensitive about youtube comments these days
Does anyone else think he sounds a lot like Kurt Cobaon here?
dude that is definitely not bliss. he's trying to sing about heaven and hell and he's upset because he knows the audience is going to misinterpret and think it's just a 'yay do drugs and dont think' song. thats my interpretation anyway but if you listen to the rest of their music its pretty obvious

its about drugs but not in a good way. pretty well crafted; he says things like "i'm so happy" in a tone that shows he really isnt, showing how drugs make you think youre doing great when you clearly arent
It's about being mentally aware of the [seemingly endless] cycle of heroin addiction..... similar meaning behind NIN's "Hurt".
yea its just to much like pain
I saw these guys play the other day in an audience of about 100 people and they played much better than this!
@SirSparky121 no I d rather smoke a big old tootsie roll in a big turkey foot joint from Hades, and laugh at real life . Eat me
this isn't Woodstock
great preformce tho
it's A Day in the Garden Woodstock 98
Yes it is.
Hey shit for brains..one more post your blocked..this isnt a drug rehab
I like opana nowaday since they ruined OCs and my part of the country has no H. Who the fuck sells opium any more?
jockstock, rapestock is more like it
dude..shut up..it's just lyrics...I dont know you must of wrote a number one song at one time right? Fucking pathetic comment
