Our Orchard grass is about 1 inch high. Just can see it from 10 feet away. The natural grass is coming along. We will get one cut this year, maybe two. Planted a bunch of seed so that was expected.
The lime is paying off, it seems to extend the nutrients already in the ground.
Got a few things to do while waiting on grass, hope to fish a day or two.
Good info, tell Susan Sally and I say Hi.

Thanks, Tom. Raising our pH level does so much for our dirt/forages too. Once our pH level gets good, it seems all the other soil nutrients start leveling out and doing better too, allowing the forages to intake those nutrients MUCH better.
All our hay equipment is maintenanced and ready except for an engine oil change for the Kubota tractor, which is planning for next week. For now just watching the hay grow and going fishing some!
      Susan says hello back!

I noticed that you have the same browning of the tips and occasional brown spot on the leaves that we do. Do you know the cause? I sent a picture of ours to our new crop adviser and he didn't have an answer which was a bit disappointing. Fungus? Frost burn?

Most of it is the growth left from last year that went thru the winter (frost/freeze burn) and some of it is fungal that Orchardgrass seems to always have. My understanding is the fungal matter is harmless, just makes the tips look “burned”. I’m no expert on that matter but that’s my elementary understanding and could be wrong.
      Thanks a bundle for watching!
