the definition went yellow at 18:29 because you didn't lock your definition before importing your animation. so at that time before you import your animation, click the lock icon (second from the left) it won't turn yellow after you import the animated rig
yellow indicate is not a problem, it means two hands not in same position, example ( right hand move in x axis +4, left hand is not there in same position left in "0" or +3 to -4 or maybe more) if both hands in same position it will show you green...
Thankyou heaps and heaps for this tutorial. It is the definitive method for transferring Mixamo animation data to a custom character/rig. And thanks to 'daveyhu', for the comment on how to solve the referencing problem if using Maya LT.
The yellow color on the character is calling for you to define it. if you rotate the character hands and the feet to T pose, and when it aligned to the appropriate axis the yellow will disappear. You don't really need to waste time importing/exporting etc
Hello BK or anyone who could help. I imported an animation from Mixamo to Maya, scaled it down but when I press play the animation jumps above the scene I modeled. How can I move the animation back down to the scene and keep it there. Its a a basic walk and I am using Tim a little boy with a red hat. Reply
Is the way you assigned the fingers correct? Maya automatically switches to the other side after clicking on a finger, don't you have to assign the other hand's fingers? Right now it looks like you've assigned right hand and left hand fingers to the same hand.
You are correct. I incorrectly assigned the fingers. I didn't realize it was switching until after I made the video. I made an update video explaining this, but not sure how to direct people to it. It is because the "Mirror" option is selected. Disabling this option prevents the hands from switching back and forth when rigging.
Hello can you please tell me how can I import an animation from mixamo into Maya with the skin and scale the animation down because when I try it the skeleton scales down but I lose the skin. Thank you
I am honestly not that good with 3D modeling, so I couldn't help you. I was just barely able to figure out what I show in the video. I am basically just a hobbyist when it comes to this stuff, just figuring it out on my free time. But maybe someone else on here can help you more than I can.
Thank You! I'm assuming you'd need to do this template setup for each individual character you have, but not multiple animations for the same character, yes?
@BKISHDROID Worked perfectly. Retargeting in Unreal Engine sucks. This did the trick. Also, did you find a fix for character floating? After the retargeting, the root bone is on the floor but the character is not on the floor..
@@BKISHDROID I figured it out. Select the character. In the Human IK tab, click on the Blue square icon on the top, Edit Character Definition --> Edit HIK Properties Expand the Retarget Specific Section. Set Hips Level Mode to User. Below that, set Hips Level value to something negative. Like -5. Adjust accordingly. You can see that your character's hips align with Mixamo character's hips. Do the same for Ankle Height Comp Mode. I did this and my animation is back on floor again.
HIK characterization only recognizes T-Pose. Once you import the animation on to the TPose you don't have import the animation again. Just bake the animation you imported. So define HIK, import mixamon by update, not add, and bake.
Your video is great, just tried like you did. I was able to transfer the control rig to fit other mixamo animations but i have some other issues. First everytime i try to save my control rig, i get an error. I ignored the error and i can use this control rig for my other mixamo rigs. So dont know why there is an error. But my mixamo animations actualy dont have animations at all. I only have a starting pose at frame 1 but there are no keys, no animation. Just nothing. So if i follow your guide, my Tpose as a base transforms into the first frame of my animation. There is also an issue with my other model i want to use it on. I wanted to download a mixamo animation, use the animation time editor and blend these animations together. But unfortunately if i pick my model and my other human ik rig as a source it doesnt work. Would be great to know how i can actualy use the mixamo animations on any of my human ik rigs.
I am guessing your T-Pose template could be applied to all our custom rigged characters. Would that be possible for you to upload that template for a us? Since I am having problems setting one myself. Thanks.
Just a random desktop background I found somewhere. it is called "Chica Mirando Hacia Arriba" or "Girl looking up". Think I found it on the website "hdfondos"

Can't thank you enough for this tutorial . God bless you man .
Well put together tutorial! I eventually figured out what I was doing by myself, but I would've saved so much time if I'd watched your video first!!
Thank u so much, You made my day! So happy to use Mixamo anims, they're professionally keyframed.
Still relevant video... thanks for this.

Great tutorial! Super easy to understand!
Danke Bro für die geile Hilfe! Nicer Background!

awesome tutorial, thank you very much!

Is this method suitable for custom model with twisted bones ?
Супер урок! Спасибо большое.
Video is 29.97 per second. So use 30 frames. 24 is for film.
if you're on Maya LT and not sure how to Reference your original character, just drag & drop the MLT file onto the viewport
I use Maya LT and I think this is my problem. At what point in the process do I drag my LT file into which viewport to get the reference working?
Ok, I worked it out. Thanks for posting the solution for Maya LT referencing. Not sure I would have ever worked it out without your post.

Where can I get this female character for the Mixamo?
@BKISHDROID Worked perfectly. Retargeting in Unreal Engine sucks. This did the trick. Also, did you find a fix for character floating? After the retargeting, the root bone is on the floor but the character is not on the floor..
I haven't figured that part out yet.

@@RatPoisonVendor Nice! I will have to try this.
Nice video. i have Maya 2016. Will this technique work the same way?
I am not sure. I only have the 2018 version.
BKISHDROID Ok, I’ll try it out and let you know if it works or not.

That is what motionbuilder does best in story mode!
im having the same issue!
you rock!
I have a question in the arms, my skeleton is in the y position, how do I handle this
But I don't have the T-pose D:
Where I can find it?

The T-Pose is specific to the rig you are using. It more than likely wouldn't work for your rig, unless you used the same one.
where did u find ur background
It was just a image I picked up somewhere online. Not sure to be honest.
@@BKISHDROID i want it do u still have on ur pc add me on discord Display3D#4555
Does anyone know if you can do this in cinema4d? Any help would be super appreciated!
Thank you sir.
good tut!By the way,the color shows yellow just becoz the define rig pose must be T pose
In T-Pose arms are parallel with X ose , on animation not , but that donot made some issuse
mention here
g8f character link????
please give me that wall paper
Who is the girl in the photo?

@@BKISHDROID Why did you use this 😂
Can’t you just upload your character, Rig it and then choose a move?
