As a power gamer myself , I could very readily see high-level, open world player versus player being structured into non-party kill teams where in the high-level magic casters would only be in a party with the people who were immediately charged with protecting them. I'm going to assume being in a party with a player means that you have immunity to their spells IE protection from Friendly Fire. Otherwise it would only make sense to have the high-tier Mages completely remove from any party to prevent the whole party's super tier magic from going on cool down. At max level, you don't need to worry about gaining experience from kills and any degree of kill credits would, reasonably, be traded between players within the same Guild on a voluntary basis. Therefore, the optimal strategy would be to have all of your magic casters position as far away as possible and not being a party with any other players, or only the players that are signed to protect them in the case of friendly fire prevention. Then, through use of some manner of external coordination, like how people use TeamSpeak or Discord these days, each of these kill teams casts a unique instance of a long-range super tier Magic. Each of these casting instances would, if executed correctly, have almost identical casting times. Therefore, the actual spell would impact its Target or targets at nearly the exact same moment. In effect, this is a tactic similar to how modern militaries use mobile artillery pieces in that they coordinate between separate units to have the actual munition impacts be almost simultaneous. Therefore, this would bypass the restriction and global , party wide cool down on super to your magic and allow for multiple castings super tier magic during one combat engagement. a party who is able to come to this realization would have an unparalleled ability to Simply eradicate entire armies of opposing regardless of number or level if what we see from momonga's S-tier magic is representative of the tier of magic as a whole. They would be limited only by the number of magic casters able to cast any degree of super tier magic. I'm sure that lasted all of a week before the devs patched it out XD
1) Super tier magic has a long cast time without the use of cash shop items 2) Depending on the spell, the pillars of light would tell away the mages exact position 3) A certain amount of damage to a caster will end the spell (Easily done by someone like Peroronchino who could snipe from 2 kilometers away and who's attacks can only be negated through magic or skills) 4) Is your team also fighting near the opponent? How do you make them not take damage? 5) Friendlies also take damage regardless if you're in a team or not. The super tier spell "Creation" altered the terrain and would affect friendlies too. The super tier spell "Fallen Down" damaged Ainz during her fight against Shalltear. The only reason he didn't take damage was that he had cast "Body of Effulgent Beryl" before the fight. The spell negates one instance of bludgeoning damage. Only WCI like Picture of Nature and Nation (Basically the WCI version of Creation) could control who was affected by it.
@@meme0taker87 As I mentioned, the Super Tier spell Creation did do damage to friendlies as well. This damage is indirect damage as the Super Tier spell alters the terrain, and thus it is considered damage from the environment. Therefore you should still make sure not to cause damage to your allies.
Overlord is underrated but also very popular. Its just the kind of anime that is overshadowed by other popular anime like BHA, Nanatsu no taizai and others...
Not most platinum rank adventurers can use Tier 3, it is just that people who can use tier 3 are at the very least platinum ranked. As for Tier 4 that is reserved for the insanely skilled ones (by NW standards). 5 is the realm of heroes as for 6, there is only one (not immortal) human who can manage that in the NW. Yes the guardians can use tier 7, but they’re governed by the same principals as players in that tier 7 is not nearly their top. Extra: An average lvl 100 player had around 300 spells to choose from, while Ainz using one of his skills was able to gain 700 of them.
Even for lvl 100 players tier 7 was the bare minimum one used when fighting other lvl 100 players And that's simply because of the High-tier nullification passive. That basically allows them to ignore all spells below lvl 7.
For a time there was actually 2 people in the NW that could use Tier 6, also thanks to items left behind by previous players it was possible to cast higher tier spells. The big angel that was summoned in Carne village was Tier 7 and could cast Holy Smite which was also Tier 7. As for the Guardians, not all of them had Tier 10 spells as not all of them were magic casters. however Narberel Gamma is capable of squeezing out a 10th Tier spell when in her best condition according to the Comedy spinoff series :)
10:10 as Yggdrasil is based on DnD I'd argue that maximize magic makes a spell always do the maximum amount of magic it can like if shock would do 1d6 damage, maximize shock would always do 6 damage
IMO that's Boosted Magic remember that Momonga so far only used boosted magic on magic arrow. If upping his damage output in the 1st phase of the Shalltear fight was his aim, shouldn't he have used Boosted Maximized Reality Slash a lot more? IMO that's because Reality Slash is a tier10 spell that can't have its power increased, just maximized and seriously it's in the wording tbh
Going by D&D, Boosted Magic is Heighten Spell which isn't used for damage so much as for resistance difficulty on status inflicting spells and for bypassing spell-level-based (or tier-based in Overlord's case) magic immunity. The only metamagic that doesn't have a D&D parallel is Over Magic, as far as I can tell. I will fully admit I know relatively little about Overlord, though. ^^;
Ok so here's the dealio: My guess is that the creator of Overlord played a lot of DnD 3.5e. Here's why. Maximize was a Metamagic feat in there and it worked the exact same way. Maxes damage out. Boosted Magic is Heightened Magic because in 3.5 it amps the level of which the spell is cast at. For example, a Heightened Fireball in 3.5 would be cast at a higher level than 3rd. Penetrate Magic is actually Fortify Magic. They both do the same thing in terms of overcoming resistances. Twin/Triple Magic works the same way as Twin Spell in DnD. Silent works the same way. Widen works the same way. Over magic was a bit difficult. The closest things I could think of was if someone applied two Metamagics in 3.5. The first was Enhanced Magic. Which in 3.5 increases the damage dice of the spell by 10. So you roll the initial set of damage dice....then roll 10 more and add that damage to the initial damage. The other Metamagic to apply would be Empower Magic. Which takes the spell damage and multiplies it by ×1.5. So for example, in 3.5 a Fireball does a maximum damage of 10d6 fire damage. Then Enhance Magic would add an additional 10d6 to that damage. So now we have 20d6 being rolled for damage. Then Empower Magic multiplies all of that by 1.5 so if all those d6s rolled the max damage possible (120), the damage is now 180 fire damage. Oh and 3.5 did in fact have a Delay Magic Metamagic Get it? Got it? Cool.
I don't think yoy can roll for damadge in an DMMO RPG and it might be random each time but in most MMO games they have a flat amount of damadge so it is more likely it just increases the damadge
Overlord magic is one of the most interesting takes on it,its not the classical "Out of Jail" card, but its situational and dangerous to abuse even for the simpliest and easiest spells
Nabinoor Shahil But Ainz is the perfect example of what I'm saying? We are told that Ainz doesn't have great or amazing mp but monstrous amounts of it Plus he has the largest list of spells in Ainz Ool Gown Even Ulbert, someone with the title of World Disaster, comments how his build has no right being so versatile And when he fights Shalltear he measures himself spell by spell
fernando gonzalez ferga He was mainly versatile, but not optimized. Ainz was dangerous because he used knowledge extensively and always tried to make things favorable for himself. Matching himself with Shalltear should not come as a surprise, since he's the one more optimized for magic, even if Shalltear is a munchkin's dream with the way she's crafted.
Dude, I would actually love to play this game. It's simply, yet cleverly and convienantly designed in a way that makes sense and brings out the best in people's actual abilities. Would love to play a summoner/alchemist/somewhat warrior build in this game if ever the chance occurs.
Yes as an Overlord fan I love these vids. Overlord needs to be talked about even more! Btw as a fan it is my duty to nitpick anything you say, but please don’t take is hate.
Amine Bachir It was meant to be tri weekly, some shit like that. So much for even that though. Suppose he underestimated the amount of information he would have to research.
I believe he's talking about level 0 as in not losing the character. Players would always drop to at least level 1, while other beings would drop to 0 if their level was lower than 5 upon death.
That explains a LOT. I was just looking at running an Overlord D&D game in 5th edition after realizing how easy it was to translate the abilities. My shadow stalker (Level 10 monk, level 10 rogue) would be a pretty good match for a lot of the threats seen in the LN.
@@Kilo181 I may be wrong, but I've heard that the author was his group's DM in DnD. Just like in Overlord, his friends slowly but surely left the game due to priorities like work or family. In the end everyone just stopped coming and he was left all alone. Just like Momonga in Yggdrasil. From the loneliness, love for his friends and game, and his skills as a DM, Overlord was born. Some theorise that Overlord is actually morphed the author's past experiences in his game sessions translated into a LN and the start of the show signifies the end of his (and Momonga's) time with his friends

Nabinoor Shahil I wouldn’t get my hopes up. With only 12 ep in the season a lot of info is going to be tossed out. Best to enjoy what is given and critique what has been left out.
Jhonatan Perez It is a shity cyberpunk style word where corporation control everything. So much that one of the supreme beings were killed by them after learning something fishi about them. Satoru's (ainz) mother died of overwork while making his favourite food, something similar happen to Uber's (demiurge's creator) mother aswell. The world is destroyed to the point where rain could melt your face do to contamination. It is theorized that the government is someform of Neonazi dictatorship due to the fact that ainz seems unaware of the crimes comited by the Nazis. But this is just speculation There's probably a lot more things i don't know so i recommed you to go and ask on the subreddit. People is always happy answering this kind of questions
The first statement was mentioned in a character card for a supreme being. I can't remember where the rest of them are, but I think I have heard something like that at some point.

I'VE WAITED MONTHS FOR THIS!!!!!!!! Great video as always! No mistakes that I caught, (then again I'm not a savant on the Overlord/DnD magic system) this video got me hyped AND nostalgic for Overlord all over again. I don't know why, but I feel like Overlord is always going to be that anime that changed my life. Not in a big way or anything too ridiculous, I just never loved a single story like I've loved this one. I've never related to character on a deeper level than I have with Momonga. Keep this up Ani, I forsee great things for Overlord, and for you. We're cheering for you buddy!
What I don't understand is why the New World has the same magic system as the game. Is the game's magic based off the New World or is just a wiered coinicdence ?
200 Years ago, Players also came into this New World, they taught the inhabitants of this world how to use Tier Magic, which then, due to its simplicity and convenience, ran Wild Magic out of use. Now only dragons use Wild Magic.
Adding in to the discussion: there is also a theory that states that the first players used One of the Twelve (a world class item) that allowed the players to change the magic system of the game in the New World, allowing it's inhabitants to learn the magic system from Yggdrasil.
new sub here, first of all i wanna thank this channel's owner, i learned so much about overlord from your videos since i'm not a LN reader, and i have one request, please keep making videos about other character and lores, PRETTY PLEASE.
Kastela They tend to cut a noticable ammount from the Light Novel source material. One of the many good scenes they cut was the introduction of Nigredo, Albedo’s horror themed older sister, and a potential comedy scene they could’ve put in the anime. The scene in particular was how the guild members were first introduced to Nigredo when she was first made, and how they were all scared and shrieked (Ainz included) which made them all use some of their strongest 10th tier attacks.
celso Zampieri there are a few other yotubers who made overlord videos on TH-cam can't find their channel anymore though probably deleted it because of all the hate. If your wondering the hate was because of inaccurate information and the videos made it obvious that they were anime only.
you can buy and play this game IRL. its called Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 or Pathfinder. the tier magic system is essentially the core of spellcasting in D&D, your typical upstart caster adventurer's, your average church clerics, etc can use level 1 and 2 spells, moderately famous (character level 5+) adventurers tend to have 3rd and 4th level spells. Highly famous adventurers (10+ character level) will have 6th and 7th level spells, and your legendary heroes (character level 15-20) gain access to 8th and 9th level spells, one such 9th level spell being the mighty Wish spell which can be used to cast nearly any other spell in the game, boost ones attributes, etc. Once adventurers go beyond legends, and enter into epics, caster can even gain the ability to apply metamagic to 9th level spells by gaining even higher spell slots. find some friends, roll up a wizard, and begin your quest toward unmaking reality.
the Author of Overlord wrote the original web comic after his D&D group got too busy or left due to life... i.e. the beginning of Overlord. It's only natural he took a lot of inspiration from the game system he really enjoyed.
Yes it is based on D&D but there are also lots different things that makes them completely different game. Read the novel if you’re interested especially the setting for NW is more original
The first season of the show is much better than the second, and I love the anime I have watched the first season over 10x and the second twice, but both pale in comparison to the LN (light novel) which has 13 volumes for a total of like 4-5000 pages and is still ongoing, the anime turned each season into 3 volumes each and the 3rd season will be volumes 7-9 which you can probably guess means they cut a lot of things which they do. I can not recommend this series enough the LN is pure gold and I honestly just have a smile on my face the whole time I’m reading it which I have read 3x and if the LN sounds scary just go watch the first 4 episodes on the anime, and be careful because you will spoil yourself if you go father but if you like the first 4episodes I recommend you go read the LN and then come bk to the anime
Great detail on the Super tier so op they break the game best part this game so diverse it’s nuts and makes since with all the rules and how you can stack levels
some things that aren't true or simpy never stated about things you said in this video: - It's never said you lose 5 levels on death, you just lose a certain amount. Nobody knows how much. - Skill points don't exist. You gained levels in Job/racial classes but you never get to allocate them as skill points. - third tier magic isn't available to most platinum adventurers. if you can cast the third tier you will at the very least be at platinum level - tier 4 isn't really orichalcum, the 4th tier is extremely rare in the New World and while it's true that some orichalcum's know this tier, most don't. - I don't think it's clear which tier Twin Dragon Lighting is, it's either 7th or 8th tier. - the max amount of spells you could learn is 300 (400 with cash items). Ainz learned more because of his Dark Wisdom skill. - Boost magic can also be used to make a 1st tier spell a 10th tier spell I believe.
she says that skeletal dragons are immume to 6th tier and lower magic. Kahjit just assumes that means it's 7th tier magic casue 8th tier is unheard of.
Well all of your questions can be answerd if you read the short stories and the dramas they aren't as good as the main story however they give a lot of world building.
The spells here are heavily based on the D&D game, hence the tier, this is good but otherwise useless They have been using it since ages past and not really unique
I wonder if with that many spells if there's a super tier magic that could make Sword Art Online good... who am I kidding, there's no way magic that powerful exists 😂
There's a spell called "wish upon a star" that on NW can make anything happen, but it is highly discussed which are it's actual limits. On the other hand there was also a WI of the twenty's that allowed a player to ask the developpers to change anything whiting the game, which would translate into re written reality on NW. So yeah, you could make SAO good, but it's too much fun hating on it xD
If anyone wants to play and rpg like this, the closes one I've found is called B100X. It's available on PC, Andriod and IOS. There are about 30 different going from rank 1-3. Every item has data slots that can be fitted with attributes and tons of unique effects. Different dungeons with their own unique buffs/debuff and items. And it has story that's delivered along with your progression. The combat is auto so it's a bit like AFK games but I really recommend it.
The tier magic reminds me a bit of the circle magic from Mage the Ascension. The key difference being that instead of things like abjuration or arcane, they had sections like matter, spirit, and forces because of how OP you could make spells. That's right, I said MAKE spells because in Mage the Ascension, you literally make spells in the Hope's of becoming god.
As a game designer who is hoping to someday design fantasy RPG titles this is definitely interesting! Thanks TH-cam for recommending something interesting for once!
Ya know pre isekai Ainz/momonga is pretty nuts. Memorising 700 spells is one thing but being able to use it effectively makes it all the more difficult.
I think it's simpler to say: D&D 3.5 tier system +1 (Seeing as cantrips are at tier 1, and things like time stop are tier 10) Super magic would be Epic spells in D&D and the meta-magic feats also exist there. Spells in D&D are also cast with experience as a component. The death and resurrection in Yggdrasil works like negative levels in a D&D game. It's obvious that the author has experience with D&D and based his concept on it.
1:49 A correction: I recall reading in the books that dying at less than lvl5 in YGGDRASIL would just reset your character to lvl1. The whole "disappearing from existence if too weak" thing is more a feature of resurection spells consuming "life energy" when used in the New World, though higher-tier resurrection spells consume less life energy than lower-tier ones, allowing one to bring weaker individuals back to life with less risk of the resurrection process turning their body to ashes (as theorized by Fluder Paradyne in volume 9 and demonstrated by Ainz himself on Neia Baraja in volume 13 of the light novels).
ITS HEEEERRREEEEE! God you have no idea how long I waited for this video! Was well worth it though, content of this quality is so hard to come by. I would give you some criticism/corrections, but looking in the comments seems everyone else has beaten me to it! :P
what's interesting about the tiered magic system inspired it is by d&d. obviously it isnt based on it, but its clear that the writers do their homework. for example, you said that the big tier 3 spells are Lightning Bolt and Fly, which are also level 3 spells in d&d. it could be said that this is set off by tier 1 being equivalent to d&d's level 0, but still
What I find most interesting about this is that a light novel author basically wrote a complete video game, with all the mechanics included. Even if he did draw from other games, that is still a ton of work.

Noah King guardians can use 10th tier like breathing air
Paper Cat Exactly. Even for lvl 100 players tier 7 was the bare minimum one used when fighting other lvl 100 players.
Noah King it barely does anything to lv 100 except annoying them
Even for lvl 100 players tier 7 was the bare minimum one used when fighting other lvl 100 players
And that's simply because of the High-tier nullification passive.
10:10 as Yggdrasil is based on DnD I'd argue that maximize magic makes a spell always do the maximum amount of magic it can
like if shock would do 1d6 damage, maximize shock would always do 6 damage
Not really, the LN says otherwise. It also doesn’t seem very similar to DnD, did the author say something?
IMO that's Boosted Magic
remember that Momonga so far only used boosted magic on magic arrow. If upping his damage output in the 1st phase of the Shalltear fight was his aim, shouldn't he have used Boosted Maximized Reality Slash a lot more? IMO that's because Reality Slash is a tier10 spell that can't have its power increased, just maximized
and seriously it's in the wording tbh
Going by D&D, Boosted Magic is Heighten Spell which isn't used for damage so much as for resistance difficulty on status inflicting spells and for bypassing spell-level-based (or tier-based in Overlord's case) magic immunity. The only metamagic that doesn't have a D&D parallel is Over Magic, as far as I can tell.
I will fully admit I know relatively little about Overlord, though. ^^;
Oh and 3.5 did in fact have a Delay Magic Metamagic
Get it? Got it? Cool.
I don't think yoy can roll for damadge in an DMMO RPG and it might be random each time but in most MMO games they have a flat amount of damadge so it is more likely it just increases the damadge
Overlord magic is one of the most interesting takes on it,its not the classical "Out of Jail" card, but its situational and dangerous to abuse even for the simpliest and easiest spells
fernando gonzalez ferga tell that to ainz
Nabinoor Shahil But Ainz is the perfect example of what I'm saying?
We are told that Ainz doesn't have great or amazing mp but monstrous amounts of it
Plus he has the largest list of spells in Ainz Ool Gown
Even Ulbert, someone with the title of World Disaster, comments how his build has no right being so versatile
And when he fights Shalltear he measures himself spell by spell
fernando gonzalez ferga He was mainly versatile, but not optimized.
I’d so do a sea monster tamer/water wind mage build and have my go to spell be sharknado
YES!!!!! NEW OVERLORD VIDEO!!! u have no idea how long i been waiting
Was it a month and 7 days by chance :/. I didnt realize that it was actually 5 weeks since my last one. Im sorrrrrrrryyyyy
lol ya xD thats it but don;t get me wrong i love every bit of this video :)
Captain Kin me to
Yes as an Overlord fan I love these vids. Overlord needs to be talked about even more!
Btw as a fan it is my duty to nitpick anything you say, but please don’t take is hate.
No I wont. Please correct me if Im wrong. That way you can help me make my vid better :)
O_o.......your weekly (cough cough.... monthly) Overlord video series is great ;) keep it up man
Just you wait buddy. Once season 3 starts, im gonna shock everyone with weekly overlord videos. You guys will be so proud of me.... I hope :)
Amine Bachir
It was meant to be tri weekly, some shit like that. So much for even that though. Suppose he underestimated the amount of information he would have to research.
key word HOPE
"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment"
truth
i'd be the guy constantly creating new characters because id constantly be dying before reaching lvl 5.... this is waaay to complicated XD
You could NOT drop below Level 1 in yggdrassil
Only the new world has that drawback
How could you have a negative level is beyond me...
I believe he's talking about level 0 as in not losing the character. Players would always drop to at least level 1, while other beings would drop to 0 if their level was lower than 5 upon death.
Overlord videos are life!
Season 3 is just up ahead ♥️
Cytruz Helix the hype is reallll
i just want to see what they will do about the dark young...
Angel Of Darkness God I hope it lives up to expectations. I need the splat splat splat lol.;
Oh yeah it better be good
When is season 3
Tier magic is based on D&D or D&D inspired system, if anyone is wondering.
HA HA some one else noticed ;)
Whats D&D?
I think its Dungeons & Dragons
My god... the Metamagic is just DnD...
I want to translate my Lvl. 20 God Wizard into Yggdrasil and play it now.
Maruyama (the author of Overlord) has stated that he's a avid fan and player of DnD 3.0 - 3.5 and has based much of Overlord's mechanics on it.
@@HazeEmry if ainz would represent the author/dm that would explain why ainz just goes along with whatever demiurge thinks his plan is just like a dm watching his players trying to figure out the lore he just improvised
Please share level 20 Wizard. I would love to see it.
now thanks to this channel i know that each words chanted by a magic caster does have a meaning, a purpose and is actually deep, makes me appreciate those games with crazy, intricate mechanics in player class, leveling up and magics...
I would lay my life down to play as an undead necromancer in a game such as this. The thrill of being a metamorph and being outcasted from regular players appeals to me very much. The thought of being an antagonist in such a setting is a dream to me.
The romantic appeal of villainy, you are truly Ulbert Alain Odle 🤣 But I’d say go for it, what’s a fantasy world without a villain?
DND where you are AINZ and having your Underlings near you
Brilliant.... simply BRILLIANT - you have the mind of a true strategist ;)

Thank you, Amino Apps, for supporting independent content on TH-cam!
Cast greater magic on overlords posts....
Bonus points for relating my inconsistent upload schedule to the video
Excellent video, keep the Overlord videos going, also i would recommend everyone to read the LightNovel of Overlord, is amazing and not boring to read at all, is the only LN that i have been reading since season 1 was over.
eduardo perez I'm afraid I must disagree although I love the light novels alot I must point out this one flaw the first light novel was a bit boring or at least the start of the first was a bit boring the rest of it from when ainz visited the village to the end was great. Please don't kill me or hate me nooooooooooo!
So hyped for S3, great content m8.
AnimeEnTranced I'm just so scare that they might mess up season 3 like they did season 2 if done well it can be the anime of the year but it will be harder to do well compared to season 2 and in season 2 they ruined some great characters and story I'm scarred for season 3
Nabinoor Shahil Season 2 was still good
Nabinoor Shahil I wouldn’t get my hopes up. With only 12 ep in the season a lot of info is going to be tossed out. Best to enjoy what is given and critique what has been left out.
They did not mess up season 2, it was just that it had less Ainz which is always a downer.
very interesting, i read every light novel and you still can make me learn a ton of things, thanks dude.
Hype for seson 3
I NEED MORE OVERLORD VIDEOS, AND I NEED THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One day Ill be able to mass produce them XD
One day Ill be able to mass produce them XD
ty, i will wait for that day with my hopes up.
Thank you for this. I'm an author writing on this subject and having an explanation for how this job system functions is very helpful.
How about the world of 2138, where Suzuki Satoru originates from?
Jhonatan Perez It is a shity cyberpunk style word where corporation control everything. So much that one of the supreme beings were killed by them after learning something fishi about them.
Satoru's (ainz) mother died of overwork while making his favourite food, something similar happen to Uber's (demiurge's creator) mother aswell.
The world is destroyed to the point where rain could melt your face do to contamination.
It is theorized that the government is someform of Neonazi dictatorship due to the fact that ainz seems unaware of the crimes comited by the Nazis. But this is just speculation
There's probably a lot more things i don't know so i recommed you to go and ask on the subreddit. People is always happy answering this kind of questions
wat i dun remember this information in teh novels??
The first statement was mentioned in a character card for a supreme being. I can't remember where the rest of them are, but I think I have heard something like that at some point.
im So Anguru it's scattered through all the novels. the one i remmember it's specific source is the one about the rain. It's mencioned in the prologue, it's the history of Ainz becoming guild leader and the guild conquering nazarick
@@c0pitos where did you get that "ainz was unaware of the crimes commited by the nazi's".
Dynamo7 people from the game introduced the game magic to the new world
200 Years ago, Players also came into this New World, they taught the inhabitants of this world how to use Tier Magic, which then, due to its simplicity and convenience, ran Wild Magic out of use. Now only dragons use Wild Magic.
Soul magic wasn't all that accessible regardless because of its requirement so it was rare to begin with
Adding in to the discussion: there is also a theory that states that the first players used One of the Twelve (a world class item) that allowed the players to change the magic system of the game in the New World, allowing it's inhabitants to learn the magic system from Yggdrasil.
Six great god introduced the tier magic. Eight greed king makes it popular by using them to wreck every one else. Also weaken the wild magic.
Hope more people would watch your wonderful videos, great job!
5:58 omae wa mou shindeiru
Honestly this is some great material to draw inspiration from.
Do an item video. You need to do like 2 more world videos, one for items and stuff, and one for the new world stuff
damn, I am loving this series keep it up, man!
Make a video about the races of the characters.
This is getting better and better. Looking forward to the next video.
10:11 "Mazimize magic"
new sub here, first of all i wanna thank this channel's owner, i learned so much about overlord from your videos since i'm not a LN reader, and i have one request, please keep making videos about other character and lores, PRETTY PLEASE.
Ahhhh man ican't wait for Overlord season 3
Chris Anderson I'm terrified that they may mess up season 3
why would u say that? what would happen/go wrong #not a manga reader
So glad someone is doing overlord vids in TH-cam
celso Zampieri there are a few other yotubers who made overlord videos on TH-cam can't find their channel anymore though probably deleted it because of all the hate. If your wondering the hate was because of inaccurate information and the videos made it obvious that they were anime only.

Facasinating video AniNews! The world of Overlord is very interesting and cool.
Only if you could have buy this game IRL. Its clearly worth the money.
There's an official Overlord mobile game in development, called Mass of the Dead.
The game itself is Free2Play. But it uses lootboxes basically for *everything* or pay2win stuff.
And you haven't even heard about Royal Road (LMS) yet :P
you can buy and play this game IRL. its called Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 or Pathfinder. the tier magic system is essentially the core of spellcasting in D&D, your typical upstart caster adventurer's, your average church clerics, etc can use level 1 and 2 spells, moderately famous (character level 5+) adventurers tend to have 3rd and 4th level spells.
ShadowAraun Thank you
this shows how much work u put on your videos dude, keep up the good work and definitely subscribing !!!
A lot of these Metamagic feats were first used in D&D.
the Author of Overlord wrote the original web comic after his D&D group got too busy or left due to life... i.e. the beginning of Overlord. It's only natural he took a lot of inspiration from the game system he really enjoyed.
So basically Maruyama-sensei is Ainz if he didnt get teleported into new world?
Yes it is based on D&D but there are also lots different things that makes them completely different game. Read the novel if you’re interested especially the setting for NW is more original
Paper Cat Thanks I will :D
I tried looking for it but never found it...little help?
Wow!!!! So much info in such a small amount of time!! This is insane!! Keep up your good work!!🤙🏼
What is overlord? is it worth watching??
It's worth watching and reading.
Go watch NOW! and if you don't like the anime read the BOOK!
its worth watching but most of all its worth reading. READ THE LN!
Jason Grey oh my God dude. It's so worth if u like video game turned real. But it's a thousand times better than Sao.
I can not recommend this series enough the LN is pure gold and I honestly just have a smile on my face the whole time I’m reading it which I have read 3x and if the LN sounds scary just go watch the first 4 episodes on the anime, and be careful because you will spoil yourself if you go father but if you like the first 4episodes I recommend you go read the LN and then come bk to the anime
really want to see someone on RoyalRoad used that kind of Magic System :D not only your Classes but your Racelevel as well
Bro, why you whispering so loudly
Great detail on the Super tier so op they break the game best part this game so diverse it’s nuts and makes since with all the rules and how you can stack levels
some things that aren't true or simpy never stated about things you said in this video:
- It's never said you lose 5 levels on death, you just lose a certain amount. Nobody knows how much.
- Skill points don't exist. You gained levels in Job/racial classes but you never get to allocate them as skill points.
- third tier magic isn't available to most platinum adventurers. if you can cast the third tier you will at the very least be at platinum level
- tier 4 isn't really orichalcum, the 4th tier is extremely rare in the New World and while it's true that some orichalcum's know this tier, most don't.
I'm pretty sure Nabe heavily implied Twin dragon lightning to be 7th tier, i'm pretty sure she stated its exact tier but i don't remember.
she says that skeletal dragons are immume to 6th tier and lower magic. Kahjit just assumes that means it's 7th tier magic casue 8th tier is unheard of.
My friend it is clear to me that you did not read the short stories did you
Well all of your questions can be answerd if you read the short stories and the dramas they aren't as good as the main story however they give a lot of world building.
i have read every single side story and novel 3 times.
Woot woot new video, thank you for doing this. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching bud
The spells here are heavily based on the D&D game, hence the tier, this is good but otherwise useless
They have been using it since ages past and not really unique
The hate system is invisible. that was why Bukubuku chagama-sama was so impressive because she can manage this invisible system so well
I wonder if with that many spells if there's a super tier magic that could make Sword Art Online good... who am I kidding, there's no way magic that powerful exists 😂
The ring will reject it cuz its too ugly to fix and the twenty's WI is impossible to get in the NW because it can only spawn in the YGGDRASIL game
There's a DL who has one of the twentys (DDDL if i'm not wrong) he stole it from a player he killed
c0pitos yeah he probobly had one of the twentys but not sure that it was the ouroboros
I think Ouroboros was already used on the game, so i guess it no longer exists.
Love these breakdowns, keep up the amazing work
On THIS DAY you have earned a subscriber Sir!!
I’ve watched OL 8 times in a year cus just how good the plot and character is
I just learned about this anime like last week and I watch a lot of anime! Its crazy I never heard of this until recently
I appreciate you not going into spoilers c:
The amount of detail this writer put into this is astonishing god DAMN
i would love to see the second part u mentioned there
The tier magic reminds me a bit of the circle magic from Mage the Ascension.
It makes sense. Good job explaining this.
Great content you deserved more subscribers tbh
Ya know pre isekai Ainz/momonga is pretty nuts. Memorising 700 spells is one thing but being able to use it effectively makes it all the more difficult.
I do better.
So Like 700 Days where you Use 1 New Spell each Day And Remember It
I think it's simpler to say: D&D 3.5 tier system +1 (Seeing as cantrips are at tier 1, and things like time stop are tier 10) Super magic would be Epic spells in D&D and the meta-magic feats also exist there.
Serpentking789 carp you just spoiled volume 13 for me noooooooooooooooooooooooooo my life no longer has any meaning now good bye beutifull world
There are multiple things that happen in the 13th Volume. Don't lose hope. Believe in Ainz-sama. You can always also wait for the third season!

All this information about the old world we only saw for a moment. I would love to see a spin off series about the old world.
thanks for bringing this vid back!
Overlord is way more deep and complex than most actual MMOs nowadays. I think the writers true calling in life was a game designer.
Dixie Normus this was actually just a part time job.
and here i thougth overlord just took big notes from D&D and MMOs. cool to see that there is some system to it
ITS HEEEERRREEEEE!
God you have no idea how long I waited for this video! Was well worth it though, content of this quality is so hard to come by.
I would give you some criticism/corrections, but looking in the comments seems everyone else has beaten me to it! :P
what's interesting about the tiered magic system inspired it is by d&d. obviously it isnt based on it, but its clear that the writers do their homework. for example, you said that the big tier 3 spells are Lightning Bolt and Fly, which are also level 3 spells in d&d. it could be said that this is set off by tier 1 being equivalent to d&d's level 0, but still
also, lots of the metamagic, and the metamagic concept itself, are most likely based on the d&d sorcerer
I mean, the series was inspired by the authors sadness at his D&D group breaking up. Much like the start of the series
One of the things I love about Overlord.
*Theres alot of lore.*
