i am once more absolutly impressed about your ability to activate so much people to carry out a safety training with so much effort. Your are really great team leader with a great team!
@@matzappeldorn5136 thank you for your continous support, much appreciated! We had more than a dozen different exercises, on different days during the past 3 months. The secret lies in making it a win-win-situation for both parties!
That looked like so much fun for all involved in the Exercise. I don't now if the same is done over this side of the Channel with the RNLI and Coast Guard.
@@Simon_W74 thank you! Yes it was! We had a lot of laughter (neve during the scenario itself of course) and it is a win-win-situation. We know of sea kayak groups that train with the RNLI, but it is mostly one time in a season. We now had more than a dozen times in less than 3 months. And this really gives us the edge. 🙏😊
@@Northseakayak That is good to know that there is some training with the RNLI. It wouldn't hurt if this was increased so that all parties involved in possible rescue scenarios could work together to both gain invaluable experience. Like your doing. Once I am more experienced kayaking on the sea I would happily volunteer with like minded Paddlers. Where I live on the East Coast of England it isn't really know for Sea Kayaking. I have been out in our Creaks and inlets in my Sea Kayak with my Club, but we tend to focus on trips on the River and the Norfolk Broads, were we can go as a mixed group of craft. There are those that do sea kayak, but tend to travel out of County to places like Anglesey or the South West of England and the West Coast of Scotland.
@@Simon_W74 a good tip would be to send this video to your local Coast Guard, so they see that we're no lost tourists. We spent years on bringing our sport to the attention of Coast Guard and other authoroties, and gained mutual understanding along the way. It is for that reason that we can ask a lot. And we always make sure that it is and stays a win-win-situation for both parties. Besides that, and should you be interested in honing safety and other skills, we offer a Sea Kayak Training Camp each year in Croatia for reasonable price. A lot of fun, and it will level up your skills significantly. Best of luck!
Amazing video (again), great to see everybody's dedication and enthusiasm! Surprised to see that you do not opt for gloves when you operate under the pier, with all the barnacles (did not happen too often to me, but those scratches are nasty). What is the make&model of the pyro flare that is seen in the 2nd minute of the video? Contrary to what some other/older seakayaking videos convey, those seem reasonably easy and safe to operate (though still no toy!).
@@patrickh621 hi Patrick! Thank you for your kind words! Right on the gloves, but we use our feet more than our hands to keep away from these barnacles, you can see this at one point in the video when I'm pushed towards the pier by the strong current. Can't exaxtly tell you the brand, it was a old one. Believe it is Comet, but not sure. All the best from us!😊💪
