This is one of the times I wish I was not alone as a full time RVer. Every once in a while I am confronted with an issue that I cannot solve on my own. I try anyway and just end up causing more damage. I have found so many cool places that I like to call my own. But the truth is, they belong to everyone. It’s funny because I tend not to pick the most epic looking places, but they often feel epic to me in their own right… sometimes that feeling comes across in my videos…
Always keep your ribbon/strap tied loosely around the arm closest to the retract catch on the awning roller barrel. That keeps it from flying away. Then before you ever untie it lower & loosen the arms and slide them back, then untie the ribbon and hold onto it wth no slack while you click the retract button, then allowing no slack walk over to the center of the awning while holding onto the ribbon allowing no slack and without allowing the awning to retract at all. Then when in the center let the awning retract part way and insert the cane into the loop and let the awning retract the rest of the way. I'm under 5' tall and 70 years old and that works in all kinds of wind for me. I always do it that way so it's 2nd nature even in a thunderstorm. I just pretend I have a bucking bronco by the halter rope!😁 Best wishes. 17 yrs. Fulltime same truck n 5er with pets!😊Happy trails.
The thing I hate the most about the awnings is that stupid stick. They give you this 4 foot long metal stick with a hook on it that you’re supposed to use to grab the ribbon. It’s like a stupid game forRVers! I never use the stick. I just position my ribbon so it is over the doorway so I can just step on the entrance step and reach the strap with my hands.
I was actually going to use clear repair tape. You’ll probably laugh when I do show the damage because it’s not that bad but I was really bummed when it happened.
Stellar spot with an ‘all you can bathe’ waterhole.. Being near a stream like that is paramount. Wonder if there are any worthwhile fish to catch and eat.
Looks like you're having quite the time. I thought that campsite looked pretty good too, but we all find out after the fact, don't we? Hope things go better, and the creek is everything you thought it would be.
Wet dogs and sand. Good thing you bought a vacuum. LOL! Dodger looks like that dip in the creek made him feel frisky. :) Truck driver tip: Always position the rig so the wind helps keep the tarp (in this case, awning) down where you want it. LOL
Poor Dodger went head first but that cool dip must have felt good. Eco seemed to enjoy himself. Dodger like screw you Dad let’s go I feel lucky and like a spring chicken. Beautiful area. Enjoy
I've seen awnings along the shoulder of the freeway that were ripped off by the wind as the trailer was traveling down the highway. They open up and wosh there gone. The driver doesn't know until they get home.
Yes, awnings are one of those things that are very useful, but also kind of a pain. The thing I don’t get is that the top of the awning is always exposed to the sun, so this is the part that deteriorates very quickly over a few years if you are in the sun. They do make a cover for this part of the awning, but I can imagine that getting ripped off in the wind while driving down the road as well.
I have an power awning on my 2011 trailer, almost ripped it off driving on I29. The power motor had stripped gear and that's what holds it on!! I had to cut it off on the side of the hwy😢. Now I use 4 zip ties while travelling!
Ugh yeah that is my fear with electronic components, especially on a trailer. I guess the good thing about an electronic awning is that some of them are able to detect when it’s windy out and retract the awning for you. I can’t imagine having an electronic step. I have seen some rigs with those and I just imagine it breaking and then you can never get it inside of your rig again until you fix it.
One day you’re going to have to show us how you maintain your rv, myself keeping mine from leaking water and falling apart is a constant battle. 2005 fleetwood prowler 30ft bumper pull. Thousands of travel hours on it countless miles from original owner.
@@GotOut bought it for 6k was in perfect shape I thought, till I found dry rot from a hole in the roof and the front storage has rot from water hitting the bottom when it rains. Seven years the roof liner I put on hasn’t cracked or bubbled hot water heater still halfway works but I had to caulk every seam on this thing and replace the screws holding the corner molding on found more dry rot barely caught it in time.and I have leaky plumbing in the wooden frame holding the weight of the back of my rv. So I have to be careful to use an extra leveling jack. Then the horrible suspension I back up to tight and the weight nearly blows the tires everything moves so bad. Needs air shock mod or vibrations and bumps open almost all my cabinets and storage drawers. Next project saving the slide before the really bad weather comes, trying the gorilla tape technique to permanently seal the top against the side it’s such a big gap in one area. Was like that from the factory. Even with all that if the roof don’t leak everything else is not a big deal and the AC had been upgraded but takes 2500 watts just to fire up maybe on the fourth try. Even if I were rich and healthy I still wouldn’t choose any other place to live because I can take my home anywhere when neighbors are to much.
I had a dust devil rip my awning brackets off the side of the RV, luckily amazon had then and I got them delivered to an amazon locker about 20 miles away.
Great camping spot, looks like Dodger & Ecko like the stream and the cooler temps. You’ll never be alone as long as you got your road dogs along for the adventure!

That is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful camping spots I have seen. I’d have to stay there until I ran out of supplies.
Ha ha, that’s how I think a lot of times too when I get to a cool campsite. I might be here until I run out of food or water…
Great view. So glad the dogs got out to run and had a nice swim. I am sure that water felt good on Dodger's leg. Enjoy and as always, be safe!!
What a wonderful place to camp! Loved watching the dogs run ❤❤
Some of my best memories living this lifestyle are when the dogs are obviously happy. It really makes the day so much better.
Oh goodness... cool swim. I could hear the breeze in the leaves -- lovely scene. Awesome campsite. Thank you!
Thanks for hanging with us, JT.
Bummer about the awning. Got to get that AC and generator issue figured out ... Great episode!
So fun seeing the Dodger run!!! Amazing camp site!

@@GotOut whatever works!👍
Wow that is a beautiful place.
Dodger sure got a pep in his step after the water hole swim.
Haha he’s the best!! 🌲🌵🐕🐕🦺
Oh, yeah, that creek looks nice...
It’s a real treat, and quite rare when we find decent water to get in in the southwest.
Some stitching and all fixed. A project that can be satisfying when accomplished.

Tadpoles in there.

Yeah I think Dodger has trouble swimming with the brace on. Now I know… 🌲🌵🐕🐕🦺

Really the good thing about a well used and older trailer is that you probably don’t have a lot of money sunk into it when it comes time for repairs .

I try and park so I have a straight path out of camping site. It may rain, other campers parking on exit path
You don't have a roller on your door ? You also need some deflappers.
I do have a roller on the door, but it needs to be replaced, so it really didn’t do the job it was supposed to do.

Basically the same thing happened to
Me Last year!
Hey GO, do you have any merchandise you're selling to help your channel? I'd definitely buy a GO sticker. 👍
Hey this is a great idea. Thank you! I
May just put something together and make it available in the future! 🌲🌵
Is water safe to wade in looks really great for swimming
I wouldn’t drink it but I would swim in it. I barely got past my knees.
Don't beat yourself up regarding the awning. Live and learn.
Thanks. Haha I always get so bummed when I wreck something. But it’s really not a big deal. I’ll show the damage and repair in an upcoming video. 🌵🌲
What state / town are you in? Cool spot for sure!
Utah.

Yes, you are right you definitely get it. I never feel alone.
