Loneliness depends on the person. Retirement is not about sitting on the couch. Put yourself out there and eventually you will meet like minded people. There are many good people in Pattaya who enjoy a coffee and company.
Thanks for the updates I will be arriving back in Thailand pattya next month for 4 weeks I am retiring next year moving to Thailand pattya see you next month
Just had a quick question I'm wondering regarding Street Food I'm wondering if I need to get some type of vaccination for water and food so I don't get sick I have a pretty good stomach and don't mind the spice too much I'm thinking I will be okay without taking anything just thought I would see what your advice would be if you don't mind me asking? Hope you're having a great day
@dalemyers759 you'll be fine, mate. I don't have any jabs when I go, never had a problem with street food, if the thais eat in certain places just eat in them
I'm American, never really had problems meeting people in Thailand. Go out for a meal and sit by some Brits (or other expats) who seem to be the majority of the expats in Thailand and strike up a conversation. If you're a new comer to Thailand they'll tell you all you need to know. Where to go to find other expats with similar interests. Where to shop or to go for a good night of celebrations, etc.
my negatives are mosquito bites i react quite badly to them sometimes, and they always find me wherever i am seem to leave others alone to bite me ha ha. And probably my biggest downfall is myself not having the will power to resist all the temptations and or the common sense to leave the bars early a few nights instead of staying out till way to late, positives i just love pattaya .
That was a great video mate , if you don’t mind can you tell about queen club soi lk , is it good place And what abt the girls and the services of there ?
I can see it being lonely if you're not around people who speak English well. I would assume that having expat friends is pretty important. I don't want to watch tv and swim by myself all the time. It can get boring.
Living in the UK puts me on a downer, especially the winter months, when I`m in Thailand I feel much happier, even on the days when I dont do much, for now I can only do a month or two a year but in five years time I`ll be in a position to move there permanantely on a decent monthly pension etc. Good luck to you mate, i`m there in January & will try and have a beer with you.
How many of this vlogs are there already. What a crap. Especially about Pattaya, the city for older westerners looking for some fun, if you know what I mean.
the only 2 negatives i can see to moving out there permanently are health cover and potential legal disputes involving police/courts locals etc..2 incicurities more than negatives i rekon
I have friends who live in pattaya, i can afford to retire and live there, I dont move there because i would have to find somewhere else to holiday, its a holiday destination for me,and i agree, it is still cheap
The NHS isn’t free though. We pay taxes that goes to the cost of providing the health care. It’s no different to Thailand or other countries that require health insurance. Just in the UK you pay tax and in Thailand you pay insurance premiums. It’s also a psychological thing. For most employees, their tax is deducted automatically and you get what’s left, rather than having the money in your bank account and having to send it to HMRC yourself. It feels more painful paying taxes (or insurance premiums) out of your own pocket than having taxes deducted from your salary having never really had that money to spend in the first place.
Hospitals here in Thailand are now charging huge money when Foreigners needing medical surgery! All those cheap operations are a thing of the past ! Be warned!
When i opened my Bangkok Bank account i took out the accident insurance, i think it cost just over £100.00 you get a card with it and in the event of an accident you show the card to any hospital and they patch you up to the value of 100.000 Baht the second year the price of the policy goes down, When i go back in November I'm going to see if i can get better cover , i know it will cost more money but worth it , Then if i have a long term illness i would come back to the uk . And use the 800.000 Baht that is in the thai bank to rent somewhere in the uk👍😎✌
Pattaya is definitely not dead. Just returned from a short 2 week trip and the soi buakhao area is rocking and everywhere you are massively outnumbered by women which I consider to be a plus. My biggest tip would be; pay the 1 month membership for the Thai friendly app and let the games begin.
Pretty much right there pal 👏. I'll be retiring in 2 years and can't wait to move out there. I'm coming out in 6 weeks for a month holiday so we'll have a catch up and a few beers, glad to see your health improving. 👍
Loved this Webby, really look forward to thoughts on Jomtien but as you said only time will tell. I have to smash it up with ya in Webby Wednesday at Xmas ! Take care pal
Never lend money, don't invest in schemes and never tell anyone how much money you have! Don't show money and try to live frugally! Keep off the drink!
I love how honest and authentic you come across. That's rare. I wish you good luck in Pattaya, I'll be over there in March 2024, can't wait!
Thank you 😊

How much does health insurance cost? You do not include in your summary. The cost of not having insurance is extremely high?
The cost of having medical insurance for me is crazy, and it doesn't even cover me for most things,
