I walked into my 6th year of singleness this year. I'm 27 turning 28. I can definitely relate with thinking a husband was a reward for being a "good Christian" I was there at about 22, 23, 24. I only started being content in my singleness 3 years ago. And it's so true. Only God can fill our voids. I trust God's timing. I want a purposeful marriage.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I do hear this a lot from married people. So many married people tell single people to be like Paul and enjoy their singleness. Of course these same married people did not follow their own advice because they gave up their Singleness to get Married. These same married people could have stayed single and enjoyed their Singleness like Paul did but chose not to. Also there are Christians who have been married a few times (because of being widows or sometimes because of divorce). How frustrating is that to see if you're a Single Person still waiting on God for a spouse and other Christians are getting (being blessed) with a second spouse. Just sayn....
Also if your a Single Woman wanting to give birth to her own children, there is a time factor involved. Not too many Single women can have babies in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or even 90s (like Sarah did in the Old Testament when she had Isaac).

Yaaaassssss! PLEASE teach the babies. (Insert exhausted-face emoji) I'm 37 and living my life like it's golden and I have peers who also love the Lord... but the ONLY (no exaggeration) thing they talk about is marriage, their "future husband", and their "future wedding". Literally. No... literally. I have many interests and it gets a little bizarre (and sometimes creepy) to the point where I avoid talking to certain people because they have idolized their fantasy of married life to the point where it's gotten out of hand. There is SO much to talk about and look forward to and focus on!
All about maxmizing my singleness. If you are not whole in your singleness, won't be whole in your marriage. Continuing to pursue God , his purpose, and cultivate my field until my season comes. Thanks Heather!

Yes, us single Christian women have been taught so many mistruths from the church about marriage. We’ve been taught that we are inadequate, thirsty, to feel bad for desiring marriage. At times my heart breaks. I hope to write about it one day.
Careful about those rings though. It has deterred and discouraged me many times to put forth the effort towards someone who was likely married. She had a ring on her finger, even though she always came to church alone, her facebook had only has pictures of just her and her kids. That ring though... I wasn't going to mess with it. I wasn't going to spend months investing my hopes and feelings for someone only to hear months later about her deadbeat husband who's bad to her. I've made that mistake like six times already. To be used as the shoulder to cry on then caste off once her relationship is good again. Any decent guy will stay away from rings.

I've been single 10 years this month. I've gotten past all of this finally. Just happy with the marriage to my Heavenly Father because of I can't be faithful to God, I won't be faithful to an earthly husband. Some areas of your 3rd point I still struggle with. But your second point The Lord rebuked me a few months ago on. I had a dream about marriage to this man who was no where near the "type" I think I have. I was like "No, he's not my type, etc. etc." The Lord fired back and basically said "You'll accept who I choose, or be single the rest of your life!" Y'all I didn't grow up with a father so when I tell you that's my daddy God is my daddy. And He definitely takes daddy tone with me. But it showed me an area of my heart that still needed work. I no longer worship the thought of a husband. But I trust my daddy's timing. And I'm 38 years old with an 18 year old who graduated in May, and a 12 year old.
I agree. My parents died I had no safe family ties. I am a single mom of four beautiful boys! Abba Father has provided for us all! If we focus on living Matthew 6:33 and loving our neighbor as ourselves. The man of God who sees us as a good thing will come. And if he doesn't we have to trust God! Virgins were true worshipers and lived powerful in the Lord. The Apostle Paul, Jesus Christ, John the baptist, Nehemiah, Deborah. Just to give an example of a few people who lived full lives in Christ unmarried. But be encouraged. I desire marriage but if he makes me wait until I'm 50 now I can say I'm for it because His love is the best! 😊

I really feel like even if you have the desire to be married and have kids doesn’t mean it will happen. Everyone just doesn’t find the “one” God has for you. Some people just don’t get married. I’ve never idolized marriage or chased men I’ve literally been single minding my own business until a guy approaches me yet I’m still single.
I'm tired of being single at 51. You don't know what it's like to be single for 20 years. It is difficult not to be held... This is very difficult. I hear what you say, but some seasons are lasting very long. Blessings.
Been single for almost 3 years, and so content and at peace with it. I look back at my previous years when I wanted love and marriage so bad. I was so messed up, didn't know myself, and never had the peace of God. When I finally decided to give all to Jesus I let go of all desires, wants, EVERYTHING!!! And I just praise God for not giving me what I thought I deserved back then, because where I am now would never of happened, and I am also certain I would of ended up in a marriage that was not from God. It is worth the wait, because God knows what we need in every season, especially when we are blind by toxic situations we can not see through. Lay it all at his feet, and say God obviously it isn't the time for this desire so I will lay it at your feet. Praise him for all he has given you: health, family, friends, jobs, grace, mercy, etc. And work on being the best child of God, mother, sister, friend, server of the Lord, etc. There is so much we have in our reach that God wants us to excel in, and be of service to the kingdom, we do not have time to stress over something he clearly isn't ready for us to have, its just a distraction from the enemy. Focus on what brings peace, understanding, and joy, because all those things come from the Lord, and you can never go wrong.

Definitely needed this! I sat in an ungodly relationship way too long.. wasting my own precious time.. I inadvertently idolized marriage and put unknown pressure on my ex. He’d been married before and didn’t wanna be married, but didn’t express this to me verbally, but his actions said it all. So now here iam, 39.. about to be completely single and Im not thrilled about it. But! I’m grateful God is removing me from this! While going through this, I discovered that I have major healing to do.. feelings of abandonment and rejection from the death of my parents at an early age and the severing of a deep ungodly soul tie. I’m learning to cast my cares on God and to trust him fully that he has a better plan for my life. Although I have days where I’m saddened because I love this person.. or think that I’m too old to have a baby and find a husband..It gives me an opportunity to really lean on God like never before and draw closer to him..
I went on a dating fast after ending a relationship last year. I knew I needed to refocus on my relationship with God. A few months later I turned 30 and God gave me dreams and a word. After the new year I heard God speak to me about giving full control and addressed some fears I had. I live in Korea and am working as an English teacher. I know that where Im at is where I'm supposed to be but teaching english is not a desire I have for life. I just assumed that I'd go elsewhere AFTER meeting my future husband or write a book after all that happened. What's interesting is I started writing a book after I turned 30 on the topic of "obedience" (not finished) and applied after feeling led to go to YWAM for further training. I did get asked out for a date last month (still dating fast) but I had decided beforehand, I would go on one date IF I got approached by someone who asked my pastor first...I was surprised that they did before asking me out. I told them during the date that I was on a fast and needed to wait. Well, I was so distracted at church the next day and later communicated with him that it was not my season to date again as I realized that dating is still an idol in my life (I'm being real here). Also, I was reminded of Abraham when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac. If it comes back to me its mine but if not then I need to trust God has something better.
Heather, I am a newlywed and I have to tell you how on point this message is for single women. Don't stop doing what you're doing I pray one day I will be able to meet you, because there are many things we have in common God bless you.

I recall one of my sisters in Christ telling me that the reason I'm still single is because I don't go out. I watch you all the time and you said something that was right on. You have to knownwho you are before you are with someone else. That was right on the nose ..lately in my spirit ive been noticing somethings about myself that i need to fix . I need to really learn myslef and build my confidence and i would often get mad at myself becasue i hate the clubs and all my friends are in the clubs and getting engaged and i just feel like wow whats wrong with me but i believe im on a journey of self discovery at this time in myself life and in due time god will place the right man on my life. But before he can do that i have to build me first. And surrpund myself with uplifiting and positive people.

I have really been struggling with this. I have been single 9 months, almost 1 year. I'm 39 and I really want a family but despite that I'm doing the best I can with my talents. I'm here to help others.

I really feel like even if you have the desire to be married and have kids doesn’t mean it will happen. Everyone just doesn’t find the “one” God has for you. Some people just don’t get married. I’ve never idolized marriage or chased men I’ve literally been single minding my own business until a guy approaches me yet I’m still single.
I'm tired of being single at 51. You don't know what it's like to be single for 20 years. It is difficult not to be held... This is very difficult. I hear what you say, but some seasons are lasting very long. Blessings.

Been single for almost 3 years, and so content and at peace with it. I look back at my previous years when I wanted love and marriage so bad. I was so messed up, didn't know myself, and never had the peace of God. When I finally decided to give all to Jesus I let go of all desires, wants, EVERYTHING!!! And I just praise God for not giving me what I thought I deserved back then, because where I am now would never of happened, and I am also certain I would of ended up in a marriage that was not from God. It is worth the wait, because God knows what we need in every season, especially when we are blind by toxic situations we can not see through. Lay it all at his feet, and say God obviously it isn't the time for this desire so I will lay it at your feet. Praise him for all he has given you: health, family, friends, jobs, grace, mercy, etc. And work on being the best child of God, mother, sister, friend, server of the Lord, etc. There is so much we have in our reach that God wants us to excel in, and be of service to the kingdom, we do not have time to stress over something he clearly isn't ready for us to have, its just a distraction from the enemy. Focus on what brings peace, understanding, and joy, because all those things come from the Lord, and you can never go wrong.

Ann Rey just surrender, that's all I did. I'm not better then you. I just decided I didn't want to live for me anyone. Only guidance by Christ. That's the only true peace and purpose. Don't want to be like me, want to be like Jesus, because he is our example in all things.

Definitely needed this! I sat in an ungodly relationship way too long.. wasting my own precious time.. I inadvertently idolized marriage and put unknown pressure on my ex. He’d been married before and didn’t wanna be married, but didn’t express this to me verbally, but his actions said it all. So now here iam, 39.. about to be completely single and Im not thrilled about it. But! I’m grateful God is removing me from this! While going through this, I discovered that I have major healing to do.. feelings of abandonment and rejection from the death of my parents at an early age and the severing of a deep ungodly soul tie. I’m learning to cast my cares on God and to trust him fully that he has a better plan for my life. Although I have days where I’m saddened because I love this person.. or think that I’m too old to have a baby and find a husband..It gives me an opportunity to really lean on God like never before and draw closer to him..

Great message for the single woman who desire marriage.
I went on a dating fast after ending a relationship last year. I knew I needed to refocus on my relationship with God. A few months later I turned 30 and God gave me dreams and a word. After the new year I heard God speak to me about giving full control and addressed some fears I had. I live in Korea and am working as an English teacher. I know that where Im at is where I'm supposed to be but teaching english is not a desire I have for life. I just assumed that I'd go elsewhere AFTER meeting my future husband or write a book after all that happened. What's interesting is I started writing a book after I turned 30 on the topic of "obedience" (not finished) and applied after feeling led to go to YWAM for further training. I did get asked out for a date last month (still dating fast) but I had decided beforehand, I would go on one date IF I got approached by someone who asked my pastor first...I was surprised that they did before asking me out. I told them during the date that I was on a fast and needed to wait. Well, I was so distracted at church the next day and later communicated with him that it was not my season to date again as I realized that dating is still an idol in my life (I'm being real here). Also, I was reminded of Abraham when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac. If it comes back to me its mine but if not then I need to trust God has something better.
Heather, I am a newlywed and I have to tell you how on point this message is for single women. Don't stop doing what you're doing I pray one day I will be able to meet you, because there are many things we have in common God bless you.

Thank you so much for this. I really needed to hear this. I've been single for almost 4 years now and I'm 21. My peers around always find that strange, even Christian peers. I recall one of my sisters in Christ telling me that the reason I'm still single is because I don't go out. I truly thank God for you and receiving revelation on this topic, because I realize now, that when I made that vow to God to wait, I was planning on doing just that, wait!! I don't have to go out of my way to manipulate God's design for my life.

I watch you all the time and you said something that was right on. You have to knownwho you are before you are with someone else. That was right on the nose ..lately in my spirit ive been noticing somethings about myself that i need to fix . I need to really learn myslef and build my confidence and i would often get mad at myself becasue i hate the clubs and all my friends are in the clubs and getting engaged and i just feel like wow whats wrong with me but i believe im on a journey of self discovery at this time in myself life and in due time god will place the right man on my life. But before he can do that i have to build me first. And surrpund myself with uplifiting and positive people.
