It’s been so long since I’ve seen any episodes of Manimal that I had completely forgotten how great the transformation sequences were. For an early 80s tv show, Manimal had excellent practical effects. I’d love to rewatch the show now as an adult. Thank you for uploading this video and for showcasing the best part about the Manimal tv show!
Automan, Manimal, Knight Rider, AirWolf, The Guyver, Supersonic Man was the go-to sci-fi for someone off us back in those days when there was only VHS and no cable TV
I loved this show when I was a kid but didn't realise it took him a long time to transform. Time was really of the essence when falling from the sky. I think he also transformed into an elephant. A shame it was short-lived. Great spfx ! Ahead of its time, IMO.
Watching this show as a kid I used to try to turn into a Panther, I would look at my hand and try to stretch my fingers and concentrate on turning. Lmfao 🤣
Only the hawk transformation I never understood. How can his hands become the claws...where did the wings come from? It made more sense for his feet to become claws and his hands/arms to be wings...but still, it was amazing for its time!
Still wondering where his clothes went when he changed. They made a valiant effort but these kinds of transformation effects were just too expensive and difficult to do well on 1980s television compared to something like The Howling or Altered States. Still, Manimal must've done something right since so many of us still remember those 8 episodes after almost 40 years. This is one of those old shows that would make for a good remake though and I'm surprised nobody's tried so far.
Used to love this series when i was much younger and was totally blown away with the effects, bck then…watching all of these now..gosh..I cant stop laughing my ass off..he can literally change into every damn animal?..LOL!..
I love that show as a kid. NBC on Friday nights central time. I've been meaning to catch this up for sometime now but kept forgetting. Still dig it...but as I'm older now🤔....goddamn it took him 9 hours just to transform into one animal 🤦🏾♂️😆. Love to see a remake of this
Essas transformações eram o auge dos efeitos especiais da época. Só queria assistir a série pra ver ele transformando kkk. E causava muito impacto na galera.
This, hulk, a-team and knight rider. Of course many others too, but these were like a family or something. Somehow i even remembered it in a way, that manimal was played by dirk benedict. That's why i couldn't found this show.
Bonjour et merci pour cette vidéo. Ah...
When turning into a bird, his hand should be becoming a wing instead of a talon. But I think the reason was they had his hands become talons instead of wings was because it was easier for practical special effects and makeup to pull off on television at the time. But then what is the rest of his body is like when transforming into a falcon? This is my main problem with these transformations.
@@kattdaddy974 Let me clarify my actual problem with this show and it’s transformation sequences, parts of them are good but they’re mainly ruined by the lack of detail they’re giving when he’s turning into an animal. Why does he usually start in a standing pose when he turns into a four legged animal like a panther or something armless like a snake? Does he stand on all twos until he’s fully a panther? When he has turning into a snake, why did he have to stand with his right arm our even though snakes don’t have any arms or legs? And I don’t see any point of having his clothes ripped off of him during some of his transformations when every time he turns back into a human, the clothes somehow magically appear back on like nothing happen to them. These transformations make no sense at all. Now do you understand my problem with this show?
@@AlexMcGillvrey I was just messing with you. I used to wait up or get up at all hours of the night for these awesome transformations and when I look at em now I just admire how much imagination and patience "little me" had, to really immerse myself 1000% into these shows. It was bad, but it is what we had.
Considering that a falcon uses it's talons like we use our hands, it makes perfect sense to me why his hands became talons when transforming into a falcon, in the pilot episode he transformed into a white house cat but we never saw that transformation, when his old army buddy asked him how it went, he said "I was a real pussycat".
I remember playing “manimal’ during recess at school! 😆 we’d do the breathing and concentrating think like the doctor and almost believed we’d really change! 😅
nossa que saudade, assistia muito, tinha também o Automan, trovão azul, esquadrão classe A,super herói americano, águia de fogo, isso tudo na década de 80
So underrated. Johnny Carson's late night crap show and comment was the partial demise of this series. Not to mention the baby boomers could never really appreciate this work of art. Show was ahead of its time.
Damn Nostalgia of the 90s. Those were simpler times. I have always wondered how he regained his clothes since they were torn to pieces during conversion. And I think you missed the one in which he converted into a Dolphin. Anyways thanks.
At work last month a guy had an upset stomach and stunk the toilets out. When he rendered the room I called him minimal and since that day it’s stuck and everyone calls him it. He’s now paranoid and afraid to use the toilets lol
Damn, I remember this show! ...as a kid I used to love watching his transformations. Now as an adult watching this now it's kinda creepin me the fuk out ... lol
Transform part is the most interesting to watch since american werewolf in london. As a kid I will be waiting for transform part, now it looks silly but very nostalgic.🤗
I remember this show. This series was shown in the 90's in my country. Same goes with the Hulk series and that aquaman or namor like series starred by the same guy who played Bruce banner in the Hulk series. Love them very much
I must have been a patient kid watching this. It takes forever for him to transform.

I was thinking the same thing, it takes half the show for him to transform.

It was amazing at the time! I remember always being excited for the next episode.
The reactions from the random nearby animals are the icing on the cake. 😄
The lion and the tiger thinking WTF

Could we just talk about how creepy these transformations were to watch and why this was on network tv? I’m glad, but this was amazing for the time.
Exactly, and the music didn’t make it any better. Also the heavy breathing was creepy.

It's crazy how the effects look exactly the same as the American Werewolf in London and Teen Wolf movies and MJ's Thriller 🤔
