Hey Dire! I have a suggestion for optimizing your Biofuel output. The most efficient way to get it is by using melons in a botany pot. Melons take about 1:30 (with farmland) to grow. If you put the melon blocks in a compacting drawer (or some other block that can uncraft them into slices) and suck them back out again, you'll get 36 Biofuel per crop cycle versus the 10 (accounted for growth time) you have now.
@@X11GAM what's the growth time for melons (approximately) in a garden cloche? I think it's faster, but the trade-off is that you need more setup as it requires water to operate (and fertilizer to be even faster) .
I went with potatoes ....and just used more hopper pots ...about 10 , cheep enough even using hoppers to direct them into a single 2xdrawer with void to avoid worrying about poisoned potatoes
The gas burning generator produces either how much empty space is in its buffer, or how much it can from how much ethylene is in it, whichever is lower. ie it fills its entire power buffer every tick.
So then shouldn't you be able to add energy upgrades in order to increase the capacity of your generators power buffer? Allowing someone to later game produce more rf with the block. Or is this a limiter for this block being early/mid game?
Mekanism energy cables don't actually have a throughput limit, the capacity is just how much they store, I was able to move 20M rf/t easily with basic cables.
i use a few of flux cells along pneumaticraft's Flux Compressor. it's the best way to apply power and redstone signal in one single face (the leadstone is solid, thus capable of transmiting redstone signal) while at the same time using 4 faces of the compressor to passive cooling and the remaining side for compressed air...
pneumaticraft is the mod that uses compressed air to craft things like compressed iron to do weird stuff(such as having drones to do the farming, having a personalized spawner etc) there's a pneumaticraft generator that uses RF called Flux compressor but it has 2 problems. 1- it can be overheated, wasting A LOT RF to produce compressed air (the energy for the mod) which is bad because the compressor by default is quite slow 2- it can produce up to 20 units of Air pressure but most machines can't handle 20 psi by themselves without breaking. so one way to turn off the generator is providing a redstone signal to it, like most mods stop their machines with redstone control now, in order to prevent that generator to overheat i can use compressed air on a machine to cool it off, but for me is wasteful or i can use a limited amount of heat sinks. 4 is the minimum required for not overheat at all. with 3 eventually overheats and that's bad. however the heat sinks are not solid full blocks (such as glass or the Energy cube) now, we know that a block has 6 sides. so if i'm using 4 for cooling and 1 for the air ouptup means that i only have 1 side to provide RF and also a Redstone signal i can use the RF energy cell to provide energy to the compressor directly, using the last side availeable from the block and that gives me an advantage. since the cell is a solid block (like a cobblestone block, dirt, wood etc) i can run redstone signal through it, using a repeater this way i can have a pressure sensor output a redstone signal when the pressure is high enough for the machine i use and automatically stop the compressor using said redstone signal. the energy cube doesn't allow transmision of RF through it. that's why the energy cell is perfect for the job.

Storage Drawers will accept from the botany pots, I've been using it for Myst. Agri. crops. A 1x1 will stock the potatoes and void the poisonous ones, no need to worry about them filling the chests. And don't forget to lock it.
Hey Dire, you can enchant the jetpack with Fuel Efficiency 1-4 to drastically reduce the power consumption. (unenchanted: 100,000rf in ~9s, Fuel Efficiency 4: 100,000rf in ~54)
You can use Create grinding wheels to grind wheat into flour, then wash it for dough, and cook it for bread. Bread crushes into lots of biofuel. I made a pretty beefy and sustainable power system with Create, Botany Pots, and several gas-burning generators.
Oh! I almost forgot. Pneumatic craft has a very good experience storage item called the memory stick. Pretty easy to get too, takes about 15 min if you make a quick and dirty plastic setup.
I know the gas burning generator is efficient and stuff, I just wish Dire would have gone outside the box and would have tried other power generatory by Mekanism. Additionally the models of the Advanced Solar Generator and the Wind Generator look sooo cool! Even though it would be only a rather small output having a few Heat Generators would maybe even a good idea. And if some of that lava around the heat generator would turn into obsidian it would mean Dire could do some... *automation* Now I got your attention, right :D EDIT: In general I noticed and I like that Dire does some things different this season
Dire, please, set dumping on excess on the Electrolyzer not the tanks, time ago it used to be smart enough to stop the machine if both gases weren't being used, at least try it
i also don't really reccomend using one electrolyzer to fullfill 2 tasks. it should be 1 electrolyzer per task and you can set the extra side as an emergency or passive aid for another purpose. but again, never multipurpose one electrolyzer

Hey dire, the electrolytic separator does not make use of the energy upgrades. If you add speed and energy upgrades the power will increase with speed but will not decrease with the energy upgrades. Also 8 energy upgrades and 4 speed upgrades will make each machine at basic tier( None factory) use 20 FE per tick with is what they use by default. Hope this helps save you some power.
Dire if you want to get automated ore mining you should consider getting the digital miner. It will get you heaps of ores really fast at the cost of 10.000rf when fully upgraded

The gas burning generator produces RF based on the amount of ethylene coming in. It self-regulates, kinda like Thermal. So, if you're producing 100 mb of ethylene every second (10mb/t), it'll self regulate to power for that amount. If you add more generators, then it'll split them (I think there's a slight, but negligable, bonus?).
Dire, need more Diamonds? RFTools Builder and a filter card. Only uses about 800RF/t at max now. Much better than the old 8KRF/t in 1.12. Solid Cube 500x64y500z Offset 0x-32y-1000z, sorted into compacting drawers, and you'll have more diamonds than you'll know what to do with. Also, you can add Osmium Ore, Iron Ore, Gold Ore, etc... and you'll be set for a LONG time with a 500x500 area. The Z Offset is so you can still mine around the chunks near your base and still find resources, in case you're like me and enjoy spelunking/mining for resources by hand, every now and again.

i just use controller to loop the melting chamber ,it got me a lot of obsidian,however didn’t loop that well cause i have to make it stop and reload,but it’s only burning cobblestone and 1 obsidian for the first time ,it’s cool tho
I think in this version, it might finally be the better option. One issue is that AE2 has always been somewhat dependent on a lot of add-on mods to make it really good, and a lot of those aren’t available in 1.16. E.g. no wireless crafting terminal, no AE2 Stuff, etc. RS has been steadily improving - I just wish there was an infinite range upgrade for the wireless remote.
Hay dire the gas burning generator generate more rf/t when ITS buffer is empty. the reson i think that its only generating 7k, is that youre battery from thermal cant take more rf/t ind. the max rf/t i had it generate is somthing like 70-80.000 rf/t at 8mb ethylene
it generates as much as it can output. it's dependant on the buffer of the battery (so inputs and outputs) but also on the power transfer of the cables themselves.

I prefer wheat or carrots to potatoes for biomass, since you then don't need to deal with the extra poisonous potatoes. All outputs from wheat/carrots goes straight into the crusher.
Isn't tier 4 the second to last tier of simply jetpacks? The final tier is the jet*plate* from the thermal ones iirc, maybe it's craftable with the ultimate jetpack too? I used to miss the last tier all the time because it wasn't called a jet*pack*.
if you mean the Flux-infused Jetplate it doesn't have a recipe. because i suspect there's no flux tools mod but if you look carefully there's no recipe for thermal expansion jetpacks either. maybe when thermal updated it broke the compatibility with simply jetpacks. tbh it broke the compatibility with most mods but they fixed it quite fast (for example mekanism) mekanism and inmmersive engineering are the only mods that have jetpack recipe along with vanilla jetpacks. mekanism and Vanilla are the only ones that reach tier 4 right now and there's nothing beyond that. again, the flux infused jetplate is from the flux infused tools mod

Backstuffing bio-fuel probably won't happen...Dire put the consumption into overdrive after putting weaker upgrades in the bio-fuel production. Also not clear if he's producing enough potatoes. He'll get to it when his power production goes down.
For every prior version of MC: AE2 hands down. However, AE2 has always needed a lot of add-on mods to make it really good, and those aren’t available for the current version. So I’m using RS at least for now.
Unpopular opinion but I gotta agree with disabling the basic Minecraft ore jetpacks. The Netherite one is kind of a joke to get once you have a decently upgraded fluxbore. Maybe 15-20 minutes of mining in the Nether.
@direwolf20 you can support like 6-7 or more gas burning generators, and you will need to upgrade your hydrogen production for the upgraded reaction chamber.
I it's different in Mek 1.16. In my test world I needed an 8 energy 7 speed upgrade PRC to keep up with the gas burning Gen. Though, with one gas gen, it was making 72k rf/t once it completely filled up with ethylene. Seems like there isn't a need to make tons of gas gens now. Though, this sounds like the way it used to work in 1.12 Mek.
Rip. that's why you should never use a single electrolyzer to fullfill 2 tasks. you can use one for oxygen and help with the hydrogen production, but you should have one dedicated to hydrogen production (and help with oxygen production, but still is not that needed) one electrolyzer per task is a must, else you'll be wasting a lot of power

Really, now you have flight you could easily get creative flight with the angel ring....without killing the dragon....I mean ...its only a little XP to use a waystone from the end to get home...although I went with a charged porter myself.
Dire, when you eventually acquire an elytra, could you please use it, if only for a little while? its a very quick way of getting around, I think even quicker than your current jetpack. (when using fireworks)
Elytra are fast to be sure but he has to produce both gunpowder and sugarcane just to be able to glide over the terrain. While with the jetpack or even the angel ring its essentially creative flight and can be as fast and you don’t have to worry about trying to keep up on the resources. Plus elytra’s can’t hover in place and the whole point of him even trying to fly is being able to build not to get around. Elytra’s essentially become useless in modded so he will probably never use them unless he is forced to do so.

I like Elytra and used to wear one even when I had creative flight. The big problem with Elytra is that they are good for traveling, but useless for building.
Upgrade your GAS tanks (Oxygen, hydrogen) like RIGHT NOW! Add a tank to store extra ethaline gas! It'll prevent running out while you're voiding. Make another gas burning generator and switch your universal cable to up one level. You can upgrade them without replacing them by using the same item you'd upgrade them in the crafting table. Also, don't disable the jetpacks. You promised that you'd leave them alone in your first episode. You'd be going back on your word in addition to this being disruptive this far in. Perhaps make a Direwolf20 "hard mode" later?
Yeah, my lumberjack rats ran away from my tee farm and started going to town on a neighboring forest, then got stuck on grass and sat there until rescued them. Gave up on rats for now.
rats is a quite poorly implemented mod. it has tons of issues and you only have to check the changelog of the versions of his pack to see it has been downgraded twice already... it also doesn't add nothing special that can't be done with other mods already so...a suggestion, don't get too atached to your rats, there's people that had worlds corrupted

Yeah, I run mine into a multi servo press gets 9 melon slices. each slice is 4 bio fuel.

Makanism jetpacks are better. You don't move as fast. But you don't fall and the hydrogen usage is pretty good.

When you build a wither cage, you should use obsidian chests.... cause why not. I have no idea if it works, just saw they were blast proof.

I may have to switch from Applied Energistics to Refined Storage as it seems like RS may be more flexible and easy to use than AE.
I think in this version, it might finally be the better option. One issue is that AE2 has always been somewhat dependent on a lot of add-on mods to make it really good, and a lot of those aren’t available in 1.16. E.g. no wireless crafting terminal, no AE2 Stuff, etc. RS has been steadily improving - I just wish there was an infinite range upgrade for the wireless remote.
Hay dire the gas burning generator generate more rf/t when ITS buffer is empty. the reson i think that its only generating 7k, is that youre battery from thermal cant take more rf/t ind.
the max rf/t i had it generate is somthing like 70-80.000 rf/t at 8mb ethylene
it generates as much as it can output. it's dependant on the buffer of the battery (so inputs and outputs) but also on the power transfer of the cables themselves.

I prefer wheat or carrots to potatoes for biomass, since you then don't need to deal with the extra poisonous potatoes. All outputs from wheat/carrots goes straight into the crusher.
Isn't tier 4 the second to last tier of simply jetpacks? The final tier is the jet*plate* from the thermal ones iirc, maybe it's craftable with the ultimate jetpack too?
I used to miss the last tier all the time because it wasn't called a jet*pack*.
if you mean the Flux-infused Jetplate it doesn't have a recipe. because i suspect there's no flux tools mod but if you look carefully there's no recipe for thermal expansion jetpacks either. maybe when thermal updated it broke the compatibility with simply jetpacks. tbh it broke the compatibility with most mods but they fixed it quite fast (for example mekanism)
mekanism and inmmersive engineering are the only mods that have jetpack recipe along with vanilla jetpacks.
mekanism and Vanilla are the only ones that reach tier 4 right now and there's nothing beyond that. again, the flux infused jetplate is from the flux infused tools mod

Mouseover the item in your inventory and then press "U" for what it is used or press "R" for how it is made.

I'm with Chris. AE is better to deal with, RF is just convenient and it has 0 effort cost for what is capable of.

Unpopular opinion but I gotta agree with disabling the basic Minecraft ore jetpacks. The Netherite one is kind of a joke to get once you have a decently upgraded fluxbore. Maybe 15-20 minutes of mining in the Nether.
like instantly with the digital miner tho.. which takes no time to manually craft.
@direwolf20 you can support like 6-7 or more gas burning generators, and you will need to upgrade your hydrogen production for the upgraded reaction chamber.
I it's different in Mek 1.16. In my test world I needed an 8 energy 7 speed upgrade PRC to keep up with the gas burning Gen. Though, with one gas gen, it was making 72k rf/t once it completely filled up with ethylene. Seems like there isn't a need to make tons of gas gens now. Though, this sounds like the way it used to work in 1.12 Mek.
dire you should really look into vicio mantle of the stars it provides creative flight after you get to the top tier of vicio
dire, why not spend a bit of time and get feather falling on your boots? would make the jetpack hurt a lot less

Mekanism's are slow an is usually a starter JP. Simply jet packs are much faster in terms of movement speed.

Rip. that's why you should never use a single electrolyzer to fullfill 2 tasks. you can use one for oxygen and help with the hydrogen production, but you should have one dedicated to hydrogen production (and help with oxygen production, but still is not that needed)
one electrolyzer per task is a must, else you'll be wasting a lot of power

Really, now you have flight you could easily get creative flight with the angel ring....without killing the dragon....I mean ...its only a little XP to use a waystone from the end to get home...although I went with a charged porter myself.

Dire, when you eventually acquire an elytra, could you please use it, if only for a little while? its a very quick way of getting around, I think even quicker than your current jetpack. (when using fireworks)
Elytra are fast to be sure but he has to produce both gunpowder and sugarcane just to be able to glide over the terrain. While with the jetpack or even the angel ring its essentially creative flight and can be as fast and you don’t have to worry about trying to keep up on the resources. Plus elytra’s can’t hover in place and the whole point of him even trying to fly is being able to build not to get around. Elytra’s essentially become useless in modded so he will probably never use them unless he is forced to do so.
@@jackkelz2000 they are fun and it would be a neat distraction. notice how i said, if only for a little while. producing the resources is not a problem, both are easy enough to automate
I like Elytra and used to wear one even when I had creative flight. The big problem with Elytra is that they are good for traveling, but useless for building.
Upgrade your GAS tanks (Oxygen, hydrogen) like RIGHT NOW! Add a tank to store extra ethaline gas! It'll prevent running out while you're voiding.
Make another gas burning generator and switch your universal cable to up one level. You can upgrade them without replacing them by using the same item you'd upgrade them in the crafting table.
Also, don't disable the jetpacks. You promised that you'd leave them alone in your first episode. You'd be going back on your word in addition to this being disruptive this far in. Perhaps make a Direwolf20 "hard mode" later?

When rats gets fixed I imagine. He said a few episodes ago the author is working on it and when it updates he will update the pack again.

Yeah, my lumberjack rats ran away from my tee farm and started going to town on a neighboring forest, then got stuck on grass and sat there until rescued them. Gave up on rats for now.
rats is a quite poorly implemented mod. it has tons of issues and you only have to check the changelog of the versions of his pack to see it has been downgraded twice already... it also doesn't add nothing special that can't be done with other mods already so...a suggestion, don't get too atached to your rats, there's people that had worlds corrupted
