    A bit of a break from my normal posts, from my trip to Alaska, here's a massive glacier calving! Many thanks to the Adventure Bound Alaska tour aboard the Captain Cook for the amazing trip along Tracy Arm, we got to witness this massive glacier calving, and the yacht that was in the wrong place when it happened!

    That was an absolutely awesome experience. Fantastic that you were able to record it. Blue ICE! I was there aboard my 30' sailboat in August 1982. At that viewing the North Sawyer was more active. I collected small chunks of Blue ICE to instantly age my then 6 year old bourbon. Ha ha. Thanks for posting.

    for the people posting how sad to see a glacier die, human interference, depressed... etc... you should know that your watching ice cubes fall into and cooling the ocean like a glass of lemonade or ice water per say, the ice will continually slide down the mountains and fall into the sea, just like nature intended.. it will never stop snowing

      Yeah, the boat captain we were with who had been doing that tour for 25 years said it was in his top 5 :)

    I was looking for a video of something impressively large like this, but when I FOUND this video... I wasn't ready to deal with it emotionally

    I'm pretty sure it started coming up under the yacht; they must've gotten a little nudge that started them rocking, and that's when the captain made that 45° turn out of there.
    Or I'm stoned, but I did watch this a few times before that, and stand by my observation (:

    Videos like this are much better without the tourists shouting OMG. Most people who say omg do not even believe that God made glaciers.

    I've visited the South Sawyer Glacier a couple of times in the last 8 years and it's retreated about 1 mile in that time. Those are some amazing pieces coming up, I'm guessing Elisa hit some Growlers when she was trying to get out of the way. :D

    This shows that you should never get too close to a glacier,which is calving. The boat could be hit and turn it upside down

    It is a sad sight, these snowy mountains appear, melt, return to what they were, which is great for man because of the heat and the clear evidence of the imminent demise of this universe.

      it's not dying it's calvin, been doing it for millions of years and it will keep on doing it.

    • @fordcabriogt
      @fordcabriogt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Paul DAVIES 100 years is not a long time, it's not enough time to create a pattern, you telling me that these events NEVER happened in the history of the planet? it's like saying you're the fastest runner in the country if you only take into account the past 5 minutes, it's moronic.
      and there's no science on climate, nobody understands how it works which is why every single computer model they make is wrong every single time, not once were they right about something... these "scientists", government funded pieces of shit who sold their duty for the truth just so they don't lose their pathetic government funding.

    • @fordcabriogt
      @fordcabriogt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Paul DAVIES again, "recorded history" is only 300 years at max, we're at historically dangerous low levels of co2, these levels in the past were even 5 times as high (cambrian explosion) and that's when the planet was covered in vegetation the most.
      There was no man polluting back then, and to think that firstly co2 is bad and secondly that us being part of less than 1% of the global annual co2 emissions will affect the planet in any meaningful way is naive, I repeat, these "scientists" were NEVER right, which by the way are a minority, as you can see only government sponsored "scientists" believe this in this, al gore made millions off this sham.
