11:15 I felt like i was witnessing a movie. The way the 2 circled and looped eachother with that explosive climax at the end. I was more interested in that then most things netflix is pumping out nowadays
I hate to do it, because usually I'm coming here to learn from you but I'm flying quite a lot with spitfires, so here's some tips: Never use the flaps unless you are landing, they're not helping at all with turning on spitfires and they easily break over 250km/h (in the cockpit there's even a suggeston not to use them over 150mph). Hispanos don't like longer bursts, 0.3-0.5s bursts with 0.3-0.5s pauses are more accurate and more economical. Spitfires really don't like engine overcooking even for a second, they loose max engine power quite rapidly. As soon as water temp reaches 136C (I usually drop after 30s of 135) drop the throttle to 90% and let it cool down, than you can burn it again. If you're in an active dogfight, atleast drop it to 100% for a few seconds, do not let it overcook, even after 3-5 seconds it gets noticeably weaker. If you're returning to the airfield with a damaged engine, do not burn it unless you're really flying slowly (under 300km/h), better use 90-80-70% throttle depending on the damage, you might fly slower than you want, but the engine will survive way longer and will get you back to the airfield. Of course if you are in a really bad situation ignore everything above, you might get down, but atleast might get a chance to take down the son of a b with you aswell. Also if you'd like, try out again the Spitfire LF Mk. 9, it was always a beast, but lately it got even better. Might not be the fastest, but the turnrate, the acceleration and the responsiveness is crazy good. By far the best fighter of it's BR (5.7), no wonder that USA, USSR and Israel got it as premiums.
I’d take a 109K over an LF9, plays like a P51 vs a zero; can’t touch the 51/109 unless it screws up tbh but neither of those beat the 107VK which does speed, turns and energy incredibly well.
@@Andy_M.S.c Bf 109K was king back in the day, but it can do literally nothing against a good P-51H or F2G pilot without a massive energy advantage (and even then, the P-51H still outturns you so if they play it right they can easily equalize the energy). 152H is competitive because of its airspawn and insane energy retention even with heavy use of flaps (which are some of the best flaps in the game, can turn into high tier Spitfires that aren't an LF). The 109K can deal with an LF in a one-on-one with an energy advantage, but the LF outclimbs you until until around 5km and games are too short these days to really allow for sideclimbing. You spend an extra 5 minutes sideclimbing and most of your team is already dead, early impact is significantly more important with the 20 minute match timer. Your only option in the 109K is to third-party and hope your team is competent (and you're not just stuck with an entire team of Ju 288's lmao).
Fun fact: the spitfire mk 24 featured in the video was a actually developed and first flown after ww2 in the late 40s and was used all the way into the 50s Also love the edited in engine sounds at around 23:10, sounds very cool Keep up the great videos phly!
First match with it, fully stock, i managed to manoeuvre onto the tail of a jet and unleashed a barrage of practise shells at the american fighter snapping their wings off. I wont forget the feeling of pure satisfaction given from that super Spitfire

@PhlyDaily whoop whoop party time getting big The little shits do it so quickly my little cousin shot up way quicker than I thought possible Enjoy the show Maybe show some videos of obscenely large trucks defying newton's years of hard work yes
Fun fact, the radiator scoops under the wings were meant to provide the same type of thrust counteraction to the drag that they created that the P-51's underbelly radiator scoop did (using the Meredith effect), but the lack of separation between the intake and the bottom surface of the wing meant the boundary layer of air sliding along the wing's surface into the scoop screwed up the flow and disrupted the Meredith effect. So, in theory, if those scoops' inlets were detached off the wing, this Spitfire would be a handful of knots faster.
It's the first time I've heard of the Meredith effect not working for Spits, can you name your sources? From what I know, it worked, but was only enough to compensate the drag created by the radiators compared to the prototype's vapor cooling

I was watching an interview with Eric Brown in which he discussed operational mach numbers. Apparently the Spitfire operational mach number was .92, higher than many early jets. The only thing keeping it from going supersonic was the propeller. In contrast the P-38's operational mach number was .65. In fact, Brown said that P-38's and P-47's were drilling holes in the ground all over Europe due to control surface lock up when encountering compressibility in a dive.
I was riding a pushbike along a long straight road in Invercargill, New Zealand, and was the only person on the whole four miles of road. I heard the warbling roar of a Griffin engine, looked to my left, and a hundred feet away 50 feet in the air, a Super-marine Spitfire was descending parallel to the road, to land up ahead. The pilot was watching me, saw my face light up in joy, smiled happily at me, and waved, all the time in the world. He had KNOWN what I was going to do, he must see people and think "They are going to be so happy".
The game that started at @15:00 would've been a lot easier to handle if you'd looked at the map more often- lots of times there was someone near enough to show up but you weren't looking for them.
Recently getting back into this game. Been on and off it for years without having a clue but now I’m trying to learn all the ins and outs and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Can I just say your flying & combat is so smooth. I’m loving your videos!
Laatokka or as the rest of the world calls it "Lake Ladoga" is that big blue spot next to Southern Finland in Russia bit above and to the east of St. Petersburg. My family left a nice farm to the Soviets back in the 40s on its shores, near Sortavala. Hopefully someone found it useful.
Was flying and took a HE shell to the left elevator, but then the WT dice roll happened and my engine took a good amount of this theoretical 15-17 splinters of shrapnel which hit my left elevator.
So is novody gonna talk about... 10:45 about just hiw beautiful his voice sounds with this? Like some sort of general or something in the movie watching an airfight, its just amazing, like damn.
"I think the game just thinks these things are made out of tin" Spitfires were actually made of tin, the first Spitfire was designed by a man who designed racing planes, tin is a very light metal, this is why the Spitfire had superior manoeuvrability to any other aircraft of it's time, but there was an issue the light weight and precisely shaped air frame made it so the Spitfires armaments were limited, this is why we only see the use of twin 20mm Hispanno cannon on the Spitfire Mk II b
Hell yeah! Air RB, the old theme song, absolutely beautiful dogfight footage, this is why I subbed back in the day man, thx for pandering to the OGs Phly!
Gaijin should take some notes for the sound effects at 23:10 to 23:40 that shit was soo awesome hearing that Merlin engine roar plus the explosion was just the cherry on the top🤌
Glad to see your back in full swing. Fyi....NEVER apologize or feel you have to explain yourself about wanting to spend time with your family. As a single father who was as active as could be in his sons life without custody. I've sacrificed and put in the effort to help raise a Division 2 offensive lineman, who has 2 conference championships. More importantly, he is using his athletic ability to pursue his dream of being a veterinarian. With that said, keep being a loving father, and the rest will fall into place one way or another. I wish you continued success, and many more happy times with your family.
The tu4 is actually the highest br for props in realistic, it’s 8.0. But the highest br for props in general is the a2d1, it sits at a whopping 9.0 in arcade! :D
I love the dynamic of jets vs. Props at 6+. You can get some really unique dogfights. I find jets past that a bit boring with middles but that’s just me.
With British Hispano's you want the Ground Belts for all targets but especially for fighting air. The AP rounds will chunk wings off, break engines, pop pilots, and set fires more often and more consistently than any of the other options. The more HE or Practice rounds the British Hispano belt has the more useless it is going to feel.
Ive been watching your videos for about 2 years now and löet me tell you: Your löatest 3 videos are on a WHOLE OTHER level. (That intro monologue at around 4:00 +) Rarely have I been that entertained! Please keep doing what you do.

Have you done the A-1H in this same role? You get uptiered against jets, but I like bringing Zuni's set to 1km fuse and just let them head on me. After that having 6 gun pods gives you a fighting chance (until they get behind you...).

I call the Mk. 24 "Obi-Wan" on account of all the jets that make the grievous mistake of thinking they can just go vertical to get away. "Hello there!"
This is what I love to see I’d love to see the spire fire early BR nothing better then killing a bomber with a 1000 paper cuts those 303s are still good tho!
The thing is Spite fires are meant to be in groups of 3 or more depending on what you're doing. So, you could easily take out 3 to 4 jets with Spitfire MK24 if you have another 1 or 2 buddies with your tactics, heck if your good enough in formation dives you could take out the entire lobby. 15,000 feet is the highest you shouldn't reach any higher as it's not really helpful. Now 1 or 2 of the planes should be decoys and drawing their attention while the 3rd guards for incoming jets or blocking off their escape route, its best to star hovering at 8,000 feet when your done since fuels will be your next issue and just doing the same tactics as they can't focus on dealing with 1 when they have to watch out for the other 2 endless they tunnel vison which you can easily outperform them as jets aren't designs for fighting planes. Even the early jets would get smoked in real life if they attempted to deal with an experienced 3-5 spite fire formation with some intel as that's a 5 v 1 or 3 v 1 not really goanna be on the jets favor if it gets spotted first, yeah it got speed and a Heavy Gun, but don't really matter when it takes a couple shot to deal critical damage.
Weve got one of these just up the road from us at Europes biggest air museum. She comes out from time to time.absolutely amazing. Griffin engine.faster than the merlin as you are proven.hence longer nose cone. 🇬🇧 ❤

Ayo the edits at the beginning and the one in the middle of the video was so nice
This plane eats jets for breakfast
