The Escolta, Carriedo, Avenida, Binondo area were the first commercial centers of Manila. Born in the late 1950's to early 60's. The first ones to be rehabilitated and emerge after the 2nd world war. Today, places like these are no longer called commercial centers but central business district but nothing beats the nostalgia of the old.
Removal of spaghetti wires, repainting and renovation of buildings, improvement of sidewalks, removal of obstructions like posts and signages, proper parking scheme, and I wish they can do something with those pedicabs and organizing the vendors, putting them under a single big venue or establishment instead of loitering. All of these if done will make a very HUUGE difference.
Found ur channel popped up on my youtube...this is very nice as a batabg sampaloc/recto/U-belt...nakakamiss...nice to watch with the kids to show how is like in pinas
Puntan talaga ang MANILA ng mga tao,,,mura kc bilihin dyan,,,
Remember all this street, when i was in Manila ,.interesting city, alwsys bean,to visit,.even now after 25 years,.soon back to walk around ,.
Ganda wala kalat sa kalye, galing ni yorme isko 👋
Congrats manila linis na walang makitang basora good job
Awesome place I can't wait to return one day. Salamat for sharing the video po.
I get the vibes ng Legaspi city and Iloilo, Tacloban esp sa mga old buildings
thank however, for posting beloved Manila.!,,,
Reminds me of my college days during the martial law era.. early 70s. My routine would be a jeepneys ride on Taft ave to Quiapo, go through the underpass and come out to Plaza Miranda, walk the whole length of Carriedo to Avenida. Spend time at Good Earth Emporium, eat my favorite pancit palabok at the 4th floor restaurant, walk the bangketa, browse the newsstand for the latest comiks, go a movie in any of the numerous theaters..those we're the great old days...Good job 👏👏👏
Dating kinatatakutan pag naglalakad at pag namimili.. Ngayon freely na mag lakad lakad mga tao. Malinis, maayos, maganda. Ito dapat ang Manila matagal na. Pwede ng ipang laban sa Hanoi at Bangkok.
Needs more cleaning.
My second home❤️ Greetings from USA 🇺🇸 I have a family there I am
Currently doing paperwork to bring over. Filipinos and Americans should always stand in solidarity
I miss home. I was supposed to be back home last year... we all know what happened.
Hoping to be able to fly back home next year.
Amazing. I watch from the start till end. It's like I'm there. Hope to see your video of Rizal Avenue from Monumento to Sta cruz. More power.😍
miss Quiapo very much, Dolores Nacionales, view this. it has been two years since we have not shopped or visited the Nazarene due to the pandemic.
For us OFW‘s working in the first world countries, nothing can beat the grit and liveliness of Manila. This is treasure.
I miss in manila, thanks for sharing lodz
What wasnt shown in the video are the newly built skyscrapers from 40 to 69 storey bldgs. And many are under construction. Gone were the old houses like those built in the 50s and 60s and replaced with glass and steel structures. The whole chinatown looks more like hongkong than manila. In the san nicolas district, you can still find houses built several centuries ago. Real owners are the spaniards so many of them cannot be torn down. You also need a special permit from the historical commission if you plan to renovate or torn down structures over 100 yrs old. I wish this video included the very very old churches like the binondo church built in the 1500s
this is as real as it can get, including the left and right illegal parking lol
The city looks clean
I miss the Philippines 🇵🇭
Mayor isko really did an amazing job in cleaning the capital city! Dec. 2016 pa ako nakapunta ng manila together with my family and back then some streets are super messy and stinky ewan kulang ngayon na parang wala akong makitang dumi sa paligid... btw. sir, u did an amazing job. super ganda ng mga kuha niyo po.
Thank you for the comment,, Moy! 😃
Used to frequent these places, thanks for bringing me back here. I hope the local government is prepared for the coming holidays. These streets are going to be super busy. They already are now even with the ranging Covid virus. Stay safe!
No more busy streets for 2 yrs straight now. The chaotic scenes are now gone.

This gives me nostalgic vibes back at March 2019. We road trip throughout the country from Leyte to the capital. We stayed at Daraga, then resuming towards Manila.
We went to Intramuros, Manila Ocean Park, Downtown, Rizal Park (pass by), a mall that has a replica of Venice (dunno the name lul), and so much more.
Thank you for featuring parts of downtown Manila
I love this place Quiapo...mandalas Ako mamasyal Dito madaming DVD Videoke ukay ukay at nagdadasal sa simbahan Ng Quiapo

*I apologize for the wind noise. My main microphone hates me that day.
It better form before. Clean and tidy. But still have vehicles parking at the double line and everywhere without surveillance by authority.
This brought tears to my eyes. My late mother used to take me and my brother to Savory for a sumptuous lunch. Then she would treat us to new pairs of shoes from the old Shoemart store along Escolta, I believe that was. Maraming salamat, kaibigan, for taking me back to my childhood. 😘
You're welcome, Gigi! Thank you also for watching! 😃
Thank you for posting. The tour kinda reminds me when I was kid growing up in this area.
Thank you for showing this i miss philippines
Thanks again for sharing your video to us. Sa Manila ako lumaki at nag aral from elementary to college and I really miss the place. One thing that really bothers me is the overwhelming number of tricycles. Wala akong naabutan na tricycle dyan sa Metro Manila. Dapat di nila pinayagan ang mga yan sa city dahil lalong naging crowded ang streets, pang probinsya lang mga yan dati.
Super sharp the video...hindi n ko nakakarating sa mga lugar sa manila although i grew up and spent 34 years of my earlier life in manila
Excellent video! My mother in law never let me go to these areas since it was too dangerous for a foreigner (she said) but maybe next time. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Salamat Po
Do you realize that Paris, New york are much dangerous compare to Manila? Just bring a small bag and always put it infront of you.
Really excellent ang pa mamalakad ng ating mayor ng Manila..
Ito ang namimis ko satin bro, salamat ng marami. Nakaka mis na talaga sa pinas..
Yes sir! Thank you for watching and you're welcome!
God loves us His Miracles is REAL just trust Him and always pray. Godbless you all
The streets of recto becomes a farmer's market after 5pm. Hundreds of truckloads of vegetable, fruits from the highland and provinces go there to sell their produce to wholesalers. Fish and meat stalls are also set up along recto ave. But the streets are cleared by 4am and the cityhall people will flush the streets with water to clean them. Manila streets is 100x cleaner than it was 5 yrs ago
I am an US citizen with a fiancée and son in Manila. After toiling with immigration since May 2020 I was just granted a visa to visit my family and get some things ironed out. Truly is a blesse day and I think signs they are going to begin really reopening
Hi do you have a plan to invest here in Philippines?
I love that you included the map at 1:25
Thank you for the upload!
Watching from Los Angeles, California
I like your vlog..no talking ✋
Still can be chaotic at times but at least cleaner
your content is much better than all other filipino walking tour. You also show a map where you will walk as well as filter your video on sections by sections and very neat. You deserve 1 million subs bro
Hi Peter! Thank you so much for the comment! Much appreciated! And thank you also for watching! 😃
I love crowded places with many people instead of quiet roads
As of now! Dont do that ! Although! Your wish is your command ! You might as well in danger of covid!
Same. I don't why I like that, too, lol but I should get vaccinated first and distance a bit from crowds during this pandemic.
People everywhere has really a life of their own. Like kids, you cannot just put them in one corner and expect them to be there forever. Even with the govt policing them every now and then to follow certain rules, they do things their own way. They cannot be treated like pets that even with leash, people cannot be made to think and act according to how you want them to be. The place is chaotic but its remarkably clean, thank God.
Keep safe! The amount of people means business could be recovering, pero nakakatakot pa rin ang virus
Thank you po for taking us there. Be safe!
Very nostalgic. I liked and subscribed. Hoping to watch more of this.
Thank you for subscribing, Mayla! Yes, will do! 😃
I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the comment, JP! Thank you also for watching 😃

I am surprised on how clean Manila is now. I wish there will be repainting of the old decaying buildings.

Thanks for bringing us back to Carriedo and all of the spot your video coverage- it brings back all the childhood memories! That was my usual route going to Sampaloc although I haven’t seen yung underpass yet kung saan pwedeng mag jeep or sa sakay papuntang balic-balic!
Awesome video and the sounds was all so natural- people, vendors etc. That’s the art and beauty of this vid! 👌🏽👍🏽
You're welcome, Giselle! And thank you also for your comment and for watching! Much appreciated! 😃
Wow pasig river is clean now
Squatter areas in river shore are all gone now.. Eusebio did.. Mayor Vico also do some projects to improve the river.. I hope here in Cainta Rizal, they'll do the same
Sana all. My dream is to visit this city one day
iv been to some of the exact places on the video so nice to see there again :)
That's nice! Thank you for watching! 😃
Maganda na ang Pasig River 👍🏽
Hey! Stay where u are ! Are you kidding!
All the streets of Manila should be free of parked vehicles, I mean totally free of any obstructions. May be hard to attain but doable. It's a matter of implementation. Don't let people feel they're entitled to the street. It's for people to get to their destination, not for people who are stagnant in one place.
Nothing like I remember last time i visited Manila back in 1985.
Uhh well that was 35 years ago
Was the change when you went before to today positive or negative?
Thank you for sharing I feel like I’m home again 👍🇵🇭
You're welcome, Tiger Gray! Thank you for watching! 😃
an unexpected content from u waaaaaah i miss quiapo alsoooo
Yes sir wala muna malls ngayon dahil sa ECQ/MECQ. 😃 Thank you for watching! 👍👍
Quiapo has its charms. When traveling in Manila, I visit the place with new visitors of the city. Quiapo to Binondo very interesting. But it is hell not as charming as Bangkok or old Hanoi. But right now, I am feeling nostalgic and so I am enjoying the video. It still seems crowded and nothing cultural is on the street.
I agree with that Manila’s Quiapo / Binondo areas lack that charm that our Asian neighbors have. Those old buildings around the area that dates hundreds of years ago are “cultural” already. The only problem is that they are not maintained properly and their exteriors look dirty and shabby. Generally, Filipinos dont have an appreciation for history + architecture. Or I should say, our govt dont have that “cultural” approach in its development.
Those cathedrals and Archs, walls and the fountains is already cultural
I miss my hometown Philippines🇵🇭🇨🇻
Thank you for uploading
All these areas and streets didnt change much from 50 years ago, may be except the overhead lightrail
It's really nice to see Manila in the safety of my own home across the miles in Canada.

Thank you 🥰💕
It’s getting back to where it used to be crowded!
The clean-up drive of Isko is really excellent. The next move should be the repainting of the buildings to add beauty to the structures.
I miss buying stuff in Quiapo and Divi. Beware of snatchers, though, I had my phone (thank God, it was a very cheap one) and a 20-peso bill taken away from me lol.
Great
Hidalgo, P. Gomez, and Evangelista are side streets so they allow vendors left and right, main thoroughways (public transport access or 2 or more lane streets) though are not allowed to have vendors anymore. So you'll notice that Manila is now more passable than before 2019, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has continuous clean up drives everywhere. Vendors are also required to maintain cleanliness at all times.
If you notice major thoroughways where most of the riding public pass through, vendors are not allowed on the sidewalks. Alghtough most of the times it is a game of cat and mouse to keep the areas clear.
Pre 2019, vehicles weren't able to pass through Recto from Rizal Avenue to Divisoria (not shown).
Jollibee (left) on Ronquillo Street is where my first GF said yes that we would go steady. hahaha
It is frightening to realize and imagine... crowded Plaza Miranda amidst pandemic...
thansk for the views pare watching from guam!
Thanks
Few trash but overall the streets are clean
That's correct!
Yeah! There are some who are still lack of discipline....

Thank you for subscribing, Rickserl!
Wow, this is a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I frequented these places esp. Recto and Quiapo while I lived in Manila for at least nine years as a student. The first time I went to Binondo with my elder cousin to buy some candles, we were caught in the midst of a movie shoot. I think it was a s3xy one bec. one of the actors we saw was Leandro Baldemor. LOL Kidding aside, unfortunately, not all of the memories were fond. I was s3xually harassed at 19 inside the jeepney just outside of Quiapo Church while on my way to my OJT in Ermita one morning. In my fright, I simply froze and quietly cried and my fellow passengers did what they thought was best. That was the first time I experienced street justice and it made the scene all the more scary. Anyhow, it is truly lovely seeing some positive changes like the beautification of Jones Bridge. Is it possible to bring back the glory of Escolta? I think with discipline, cooperation, and respect for ecology, the beauty and dignity of Manila can be gradually brought back. But the road would definitely be long and hard. Thank you as always TFHTV. Take care and be safe when you're out exploring.
Thank you for sharing, Simone! Sorry to hear about your jeepney incident! With stricter laws today, I hope that doesn't happen to anyone again. Yes, Manila has gone some tremendous beautification in the past few years. Including the Jones Bridge. The population is really just big to keep things "in order". Well I hope that changes in the years to come, though!
You're welcome Simone and as always, thank you for watching. Much appreciated!
Quiapo, one of the scariest place to stay in Manila. BGC is one of my favorite place to go.
BGC wow might aswell stay in America n eat burgers i reckon...
Damn the quality of this video is nice 4k. GoPro? R u on bike?
Covid 19 happy like this people no social distance..
Just a suggestion, you can make a video featuring the historical places and houses found in the san nicolas district, tondo district, quiapo district plus show some historical info about them like the ancestral home of antonio and juan luna located at neumancia street. teodoro alonzo's house along san fernando, the fave hangout of rizal, mabini and the luna bros the forcer panciteria macanista de bueno at the foot of san fernando bridge. The san fernando bridge itself is historical. Imagine some 100-200 yrs ago, our national heroes would traverse that bridge on a daily basis. If only the bridge can talk, its tales would have been facinating bearing witness to the spanish period, the american, the british and the japanese. FYI, the san fernando bridge retains all the original materials used in its construction like the cobble stones.
Hi Albert! Thank you for the suggestions as this will help me plan my future walk of Manila. Manila is such a huge city and I need to do more walking tours here and I need to plan it properly. Will do a follow up walking tour of Manila soon! Thank you!

The year of the oldies but goodies! Hey! Raon then is now Gonzalo Puyat street!
Everything will look spacious if those parked cars were removed
It’s not America
Nah everything will look spacious and organized if they remove those jeepneys and change it to a bus rapid system
ALEMARS of the 80’s😄
never been here but it looks very similar to Iloilo
Nice

By the way, which camera are you using? It's so stable!
