I'd understand if this was a professional SIM that actual airliners and pilots would use, but I am not sure thats the case? I was so shocked to hear that MFS20 only has two types of cloud with 3 layers that can be duplicated for 64 different altitudes. That is so lacking compared to other sims where there is 8 types of clouds with unlimited layers, well, whatever the GPU can handle.
Tornados in Free Flight could be done as a weather preset(s). For instance, the preset could be certain storm conditions with a chance of spawning tornadoes. It’s like trying to describe why helicopters feel so good in DCS compared to MSFS 2020. It’s difficult to convey. Cheers!
Its kinda ridiculous how theyve managed to make a flight simulator, the ENTIRE world, look not only 96% real from the air, but also look on par with Far Cry 5 graphic wise on foot... At least in open areas with lots of vegetation.
@@jfavignano Yeah, the world in MSFS is awesome and 2024 will be incredible. and that makes it all the more baffling that they still can't include an ATC as easy to use and accurate (maybe not the voices and terminology but who cares?) as FSX !
A friend asked me if MFS 2024 will finally get weather radar in airplanes. I told him that from what I saw on the web it probably won't, but you will be able to walk in sim. Naimely, MFS 2024 will let players walk around the world. Well done MFS! First we got MFS as primarily a landscape simulation, and now we get a walking simulation as well! The next step will probably be the revival of 'The Sims' in MFS, simulation of everyday life or fantasy RPG game inside sim. Planes and flying will be optional. Who cares about weather radar, airplanes and flying in flight simulation...
Or ATC that works as well as it did in FSX. How hard can it be to at least match that? You have airliners but no ATC??? Come on folks, get that thing fixed!!
(I want to be a storm chaser too when i grow up) I think that it should work in live weather but only for tornados that have already occurred and been added to the database. So for example if you set the time to 2011 and went to the Midwest you would see tornados from the April super outbreak along their respective paths
I think it is important to keep in mind that the aircraft airspeed and vertical speed indicators rose through the roof within 2 seconds, probably due to airflow around the wildfire. The aircraft is suddenly finding itself at 280 KIAS, no shit it’s unbelievable. It’s well beyond the Vne and probably G-limits of the aircraft. If they disabled crashes, then I’m willing to let them pass on this one.
Hey Jeff! Quick question about the sim, will there be airline liveries on static planes and a livery selection for airliners like the A320 and 737 for example or will that have to be an add-on? Also, will there be planes flying around during flight? Thank you!
With the weather, i'm more curious on how well they do with Hurricanes and if that's gonna be in the game, i also understand that natural disasters like tornados and hurricanes are extremely hard to predict even outside of the sim, so accuracy i am not expecting at all, just be cool to see them in the live weather/online

I mean, the Lehigh Valley is not some tiny, small town in the middle of nowhere Midwest USA. Its barely a stone's throw from Philly of all places, a HUGE city, and yet the quality of the terrain was abysmal in 2020. You're right. You'll be able to walk in sim and explore the world. Great, right? That's the point of every good flight simulator - to walk. The next step is probably MFS - 'The Sims' Edition. Meanwhile, I can't get a decent weather radar in a jetliner.
I can't believe road traffic is still so badly implemented 5 years after MFS 2020. Also the ATC still being absolute pants is unforgivable. Hope BATC works well with the new sim but I'm tired of having to spend a small fortune on 3rd party software just to get what should be in the sim already.
I am curious about the flight model for some of the odd aircraft, things like the gyro and the powered parachute. Did they come up with proper models that fly the way these unique aircraft fly or did they just slap a new skin on a normal aircraft model?
There is literally no excuse for 2024 not having shared cockpit at launch. We were supposed to get it in 2020 and it never happened. It was a significant selling point for some who wanted to do realistic crew flying. They promised it and never delivered then. I’ll buy into 2024 when that gets delivered.
@@Autopilot_Austin you both have to have the exact same scenery and you also both have to have your airplanes identical as far as cold and dark. On the PMDG birds you can use the FMC to select cold and dark before you connect to each other. Make sure you go slow and take your time so things don't get desync'd in the FMC. I have many hours using it and honestly 9/10 we have no problems.
BRLILLIANT; BRILLIANT; BRILLIANT 💯 informations and knowledge you offered us regarding the flight model. I'm an avid helicopter pilot/simmer, and the flight dynamics are one of the most interesting stuff for me to say the least. Thank you for your wonderful work ❤!
Will 2024 have a universal auto pilot? I’m a licensed instrument rated pilot but often I like to have the Sim just flying in the background while I work and it would be great to have a auto pilot function for all aircraft even if it’s just fly straight and level.
With the Aviator edition where you get the entire Asobo aircraft catalog from FS2020, will those models have the new flight model implemented as well? This makes a difference to me, because I own many of those aircraft already.
But I really want to know about is as Microsoft fixed the multi-screen issues it had in 2020? Those of us with fixed base cockpit Sims and multi screens had so many issues with alignment. Also, the menu user interface was squarely placed right behind my instrument panel. It made the game completely unusable for serious simmers that have a full cockpit. Therefore I've been using X-Plane and will continue to do so unless this problem is fixed. I'd love to be able to run this game. I hope the developers were listening. Can somebody please do a review on that feature? I don't care that I can walk around outside the airplane. I can take my dog for a walk, I don't need to walk in a game.
That is what the cache is for. From what I understand, you can scale it to your needs so that any streamed content from the cloud is stored locally on your computer. However, the more you fly to new areas, the more that cache will fill up. It's a balance between how much space you want to dedicate to the cache versus streaming it on demand, but I'd wait to see how it performs on your connection first before you worry.
I think the current FM is fine, I don’t know what people want. You can fly stupid and break physics in every sim available. If you fly them to the numbers they are quite a realistic experience.
@@jfavignano yea. But the more realistic physics You have the better. Engines reacting to flying upside down. Surfaces reacting to overspeed and so on.
Hey, question on the rolling cache requirement. 2020 saw horrible performance when this was used. Even this year with all the recent updates, I've seen forums recommend turning completely off as it introduced horrible stutters and FPS issues. Do you know why 2024s implementation of this feature is supposedly better? Or will this just be another pain point?
Is there any news in whether third party addons would be available on xbox in msfs2024. (E.g Fenix) Or if there will even be any third party addins coming to xbox in msfs2024?
I'm buying a new pc to run this thing, and it ain't gonna be cheap. I'm getting the liquid nitrogen cooling tank put in tomorrow. This sim better be worth it!
Was the installl being 2TB a mistake? I have all world updates and city updates and all freeware from the store instaled plus stuff in my community folder - currentlly sitting at just over 100GB defo nowhere near 2TB?
Was the Xbox optimisation just for series X or also series S? I'm on series S and those memory issues make the game unplayable sometimes - I really hope they fix this

@@jfavignano Well, previous MSFSs had it, as well as Xplane11, so I know the data exists to do it right. But they still managed to get it wrong in 2020, so you cant really blame me for not having high expectations.
My Xbox is crying… I can hear it
The first thing, I want to do is to fly into tornado.
Jeff, do you know if asobo has fixed the problem msfs2020 has with parts of bridges being under water?
Any news of that rumored feature that youll actually will be able to leave the pilotseat and walk around inside your plane AND outside to explore on foot?
I read it on the MSFS 2024 steam page so yeah it is not a rumor. This is really exciting news and will bring a lot more player to the game.
@@compote-s1r Yes considering they put so much effort into making the world even more detailed, being able to land somewere and get out and take a walk would be mindblowing. (IF I can figure out how to land without crashing... ;).
it is not rumoured it all, and shown in some vids.
@@wout123100 Really? Havent been able to find any footage, guess Ill keep looking. edit: finally found some footage - seems a bit rough but hopefully its gonna be smoother by release.
Regarding the 3 million I can still tell you if your interested. ❤
Going to bet their estimates for career mode are WAY low. It's what we see in ever game - career modes are incredibly addictive.
There is literally no excuse for 2024 not having shared cockpit at launch. We were supposed to get it in 2020 and it never happened. It was a significant selling point for some who wanted to do realistic crew flying. They promised it and never delivered then. I’ll buy into 2024 when that gets delivered.
Gotta wait for MS2050 for that one bud
You could always use your controls a free incredible program. We have been flying with it for a long time doing full CRM
@@jfavignano I always had buggy and inconsistent results with it.
Excellent video Jeff... I have a question, I hope it's not stupid, will I be able to drive the car in new mfs...?
Have they covered what happens in career mode if u cant afford to repair your plane?
With the Aviator edition where you get the entire Asobo aircraft catalog from FS2020, will those models have the new flight model implemented as well? This makes a difference to me, because I own many of those aircraft already.
yes all of Asobo's airplanes have been updated to 24 standards.
Jeff what PC build do you have and any suggestions.
5:51 thats crazy
I'm worried about me being on starlink with spotty reception sometimes for the cloud stuff
Interesting how 2020 fanboys always said the flight model was so great, but the flight model is now supposed to be so much better…
@@strikkflypilot927 I do get that, the new FM in MSFS24 will be better than what we have with 2020 for me that is a huge step up.
I am so sick of seeing the A10 in autumn trees and people flying around the Grand Canyon.
Any new footage?
no there is not
How far could you walk away from your aircraft? Could you walk the entire country without flying?
Devs said there's no limit. You can walk whereever you want and there's a keybind to teleport you back to the plane. Really looking forward to this :)
Yes you could walk anywhere pretty much 👍
Keep in mind theres no people Ai so its gonna be a dead world outside the airport
I don't think you can compare the two because this sim is using a new architecture and multithreading. Performance will be very different.
They need to use AI to capture the buildings in Bing Streetside images and use it to improve the in-game buildings.
Is there any news in whether third party addons would be available on xbox in msfs2024. (E.g Fenix)
Or if there will even be any third party addins coming to xbox in msfs2024?
I hope they've fixed the green roads which seem to plague most of world
I'm buying a new pc to run this thing, and it ain't gonna be cheap. I'm getting the liquid nitrogen cooling tank put in tomorrow. This sim better be worth it!
4090 over here. lets gooo
Was the installl being 2TB a mistake? I have all world updates and city updates and all freeware from the store instaled plus stuff in my community folder - currentlly sitting at just over 100GB defo nowhere near 2TB?
it was a number Asobo/MS gave out, perhaps they are referring to all their content including airplanes?
hope I don't have to buy PMDG 737 again
will 2024 play on Series S?
I'm assuming the game will not be able to be pirated with a lot of the content server side unlike 2020. Meh.
Was the Xbox optimisation just for series X or also series S? I'm on series S and those memory issues make the game unplayable sometimes - I really hope they fix this
I don't use console so I didn't really spend much time learning about these things.
Самый главный вопрос когда они сделают действующий и редактируемый траффик. Ну и AI диспетчеров посообразительнее.
No, the MSFS2020 turbulence was not flawed due to lack of head shaking. The whole turbulence physics is wrong there.
That’s not what I said, the lack of turbulence and and windshear is because of the cloud thickness
@@jfavignano Lack of turbulence? There is "plenty of turbulence" in MSFS, so much that I toned it down in settings. It's just physics that's completely wrong so it shakes in wrong manners, in wrong places and in wrong times of day... Btw, the video is awesome, thanks! 🙂
@@Nikola16789 thanks, yes there is turbulence in the current sim but not in the clouds.
Is there birds flying around??
Sorry if I missed it what about the in game store will those planes move
Hopefully one day we get a Microsoft driving simulator on par with there flight sim.
google Juice Goose for MSFS, it's one hell of a drivable UTV for the sim, greatly recommended!
Do you know what the initial download size of 2024 will be?
About 50GB the Tech Alpha was only 9GB
Hey Jeff I found another map mod for ATS that adds more cities to California
Dear jeff favigno, you play Gta a lot, maybe you can convince the msfs team to implement crash effects, at least the minimum of gtaV crashes.😊 Thank you
They will not, they have a working crash model but the airplane manufacturers won't let them use it (yet)
