Man this one is actually my favorite night out fragrance and I got many compliments wearing this one. I like Tobacco Vanille but it's too much in your face and more linear. When Herod dries down I got more of a honey and cherry with a little boozy touch. It's smoother that Tobacco Vanille and more masculine and elegant IMHO. Give it a chance and I guarantee to you that one day this one is going to be in your top list.

I honestly don't get any similarities to tobacco vanilla. But we all experience things differently. I actually understand the pure havane comparison more than TV. But even then I don't think I could ever mistake any of these for one another. I also think this is one best experienced after atomizing rather than a tiny dab from a LS vial. And Herod actually for a long time was only available in 4.2 ounce bottles at $275. But I got mine for $165 shipped. TV you are almost guaranteed to pay retail.

Just bought a 5ml sample and it's good but no comparison to TV for me. I Love TV with its strong projection and smell. This one gets really sweet on me and doesn't project at all. I just get like a cinnamon, cherry tobacco. Really reminds me of pure havane from Thierry mugler. I agree it's more refined than pure havane but for the price I'd just get that compared to this. I dunno. It was my first wearing today. I'll test the whole 5ml and see what I think of it. I might end up loving it and buy a bottle
It is similar to TV certainly, but I find it less cloying and richer as it develops. You'll see when you give it a couple wears. It's my favorite tobacco. There's an incense thread running through it that I appreciate.

I love TV but did not like Herod and sold my bottle. I feel they are much different to my nose. I get that cherry appricot that i don't care for and don't get with TV. I like TV layering with Double Vanilla. It's a fall winner. Take care.

+Steffen Flindt Personally I love Pegasus but if you thought Reflection was too feminine then I can see why you would think that about Pegasus as well... Pegasus reminds me of a more masculine version of Dior's Hypnotic Poison as I get that 'root beer' thing going on... Love it...
So hard to get all the nuances of the fragrance with those testers from LS. Especially if your dabbing with that little cap tail (official name of course) lol IMO, I think this is definitely different enough to warrant owning this and TV. This can also easily be found for under $200 and the bottle is 125ml. A better value than TV if you were going to either-or it. I own about 8 bottles from this house...good stuff overall. Get your nose on a few more if you can. I probably wear Herod least out of them all. Not because I dont enjoy it...I think subconsciously, I dont reach for it because everyone seems to wear this one most! lol

Herod is definitely more mass pleasing, and ironically more masculine as well. Tobacco vanille is also beautiful in its own way. Both are full bottle worthy. Although I find Herod to be weak in projecting and longevity.
To me TF Tobacco Vanille is sharp, peppery, smoky. Harsh and adult. Herod is like a tobacco cake with almonds and cherry. Like Nicotine - for kids! As a gourmand spice fan, herod is def my choice.

Conclusion > worth every penny..~
Parfums de Marly has REFORMULATED Herod. I own an older formulation which has an alcohol concentration of 78%. The new formulation I see in stores has 81% alcohol. My formulation is a dark orange / amber color. The new formulation is a very light, faint orange in color. The new formulation does not last as long and it smells different. Parfums de Marly fragrances are ALWAYS getting reformulated and become much weaker than their ORIGINAL releases. Parfums de Marly HAS NOT been transparent when it comes to the reformulation of their fragrances. Carlisle, Layton & Oajan have also been reformulated and have 3%-4% more alcohol in newer batches.
+razscott was hoping for it to be an even richer deeper version of dior hypnotic poison with the vanill/almond combo but it smells nothing like it, my decant was from first in fragrance niche company so it's the true juice.
For real, it is seriously good stuff, im gonna sell my 100ml A.N for a full bottle of oajan, i think i paid £160 for my A.N and its only 100ml edt, oajan is about £130 for 120ml edp and is much stronger shit,

I bought it at Nordstrom, it was love at first sniff for me. I like T.V but I love PDM Herod.

Franck boclett tobacco is very similar to tobacco vanille, not as thick and rich though but it's only half the price.
MrCoolink has it right, it has a lot of Ambre Narguile in it to go with the TV. It's not nearly as brash as TV alone.

Pegasus was to feminine for my taste, but thats how i feel about Reflection Man as well, so maybe its just me .. :)

this is really nice... i kinda get a lil bit Chergui there too... with that vanillla i tobaccoo. I like it more than TF TV actually. Great stuff

i got a decant of pegasus and was really disapointed, smells like a foul amouage reflection clone imo.
