Wrong. They Paich and Jeff had a high school band which when they left high school became Steve Porcaro and Steve Lukathers band. Jeff and David Paich were already planning the band and were eyeing Lukather for Toto when he was in high school.
The late great Carlos Vega on the kit! Oh man do I love me some Boz Scaggs! Great music, from the greatest decade of musical creativity in my humble opinion.
I always thought Carlos was the next best after Jeff Porcaro. When Steve and Mike Porcaro made their "Porcaro Brothers" single they used Carlos on drums. RIP Jeff. RIP Carlos.
Out of all Rock and Roll ballads, this is my favorite. But, it leaves me wanting more. I picture Lido pulling in to the Tombstone bar in a 1964 Chevy Impala drop top with chrome wheels. Something slightly tacky , but classy. Maybe taking a long pull of Courvoisie VSOP right out of the bottle. What happened to our Lido? He was cunning, but not too smart. Did the bad guys catch up to him. He could eat most bad guys for breakfast. Did he get busted and wind up in the joint? Perhaps he used his ill gotten lost for a stake in poker game in a Las Vegas casino? C"mon Boswell! You left us empty all these years. Channel your inner Elmore Leonard and give us a sequel!
@@GLPitt1 Well, u can only see of how the Japanese and other Asian appearance audience are reacting to Scaggs, right⁉️.. Unless you're really that ignorant.
To clear up the drummer controversy a bit it’s definitely not Jeff Porcaro because even though the title says 1977 it’s definitely much later than ‘77 by looking at some of the gear on stage that wasn’t around in 1977 for example one of the keyboard players is playing a Yamaha DX7 that didn’t appear until 1983. And if this is early to mid 80’s Jeff Porcaro was in full swing with Toto at that time. Maybe this helps.
Guys it’s the great Carlos Vega. He was quite close to the Porcaros and in fact is often compared to Jeff (and perhaps the only one who does/can at that time
Funny..the only time I ever heard Boz sing off-key (for the intro line to the song) but he caught himself pretty quickly...it occurs just before he says "he missed it!" Great song, love the band aside from this.
Lido missed the boat that day he left the shack But that was all he missed And he ain't comin' back At a tombstone bar, in a juke joint car he made a stop Just long enough to grab a handle off the top Next stop Chi town, Lido put the money down, let 'em roll He said one more job ought to get it One last shot 'fore we quit it One for the road Lido Whoah oh oh oh He's for the money, he's for the show Lido's waitin' for the go, Lido Whoah oh oh oh oh oh He said one more job ought to get it One last shot 'fore we quit it One more for the road Lido will be runnin', havin' great big funnin' till he got the note Sayin' toe the line or blow it and that was all she wrote He'll be makin' like a bee line, headin' for the border line, goin' for broke Sayin' one more hit ought to do it This joint ain't nothin' to it One more for the road Lido Whoah oh oh oh He's for the money, he's for the show Lido's waitin' for the go, Lido Whoah oh oh oh oh oh One more job ought to get it One last shot then we quit it One more for the road Lido Woah oh oh oh He's for the money, he's for the show Lido's waitin' for the go, Lido Woah oh oh oh oh oh One more job ought to get it songmeanings.com/songs/view/3530822107858497812/
If it wasn't for Boz there never would have been Toto !! Thanks Boz
Wrong.

Boz Scaggs' masterpiece live in the freezing cold in Japan....essence of TH-cam.
At in Arvo 2:26
That be crazy cold
this is such a great song, the LOUDER the better
The late great Carlos Vega on the kit! Oh man do I love me some Boz Scaggs! Great music, from the greatest decade of musical creativity in my humble opinion.
Ummmmm... ABSOLUTELY
I always thought Carlos was the next best after Jeff Porcaro. When Steve and Mike Porcaro made their "Porcaro Brothers" single they used Carlos on drums. RIP Jeff. RIP Carlos.
Carlos Vega....Tasteful as always RIP as with Jeff Porcaro....Masters of the kit.....
So talented, puts everything into every performance. Cares deeply about the fans.
Thanks for posting; I have a new-found appreciation for this tune.
Boz Scaggs back in the old days of real music.
This song, in any language, should stand the test of time. It was an exceptional example of rock music at the time.
1:21
Very Cool seeing the other side of the World loving this masterpiece. ( no pun intended, it does look cool/cold )
I would trade the several of my days to spend this day with Boz Scaggs making all those folk in Japan smile on a wintery day like this
Box is incredible! Fantastic concert! I wish I could see him someday.
Lido Shuffle, what a tune!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lido_Shuffle
Rawks from here to the ends of the universe, and back.
This song here, blew some holes in my tapestry, jűs sāyīn !😎✌😎!
There really was a time when people could play music.
Speed Skating to this on a weekly schedule at high school excursion to the local skating ring. still listening thousands of years later.
Just had to hear this for a little pick me up this morning : )
Legend of All Time. The Bozz.
He's an amazing performer!
one more time ought to do it....amazing
The late great Johnny Madrid on Trumpet-yes, he's the guy that played the high Trumpet part on Time Won't Let Me by The Outsiders when he was 17
Also played lead for Harry James
And with Woody Herman and Buddy Rich.
Love this song…
Rock was supposed to be the death of horns, but the fact is that rock songs that use horns often turn to gold.
Fuckin early Chicago, man
Loved this in grade ten during a high school dance!
Just one great track from one of the greatest albums of all time, boy Boz looks oh so young in this clip.

Great performance. The Japanese crowd is way into it. Back up vocals are killer too.
Hi.. there
Well, the Japanese used to love him there. So nothing unusual.
@@anonymousilluminati5717 To quote Johnny Carson: "I did not know that."

Agreed. Looks 80s
No, not Jeff on drums. But almost looks like Howard Leese on guitar. Hmmm?
Guys it’s the great Carlos Vega. He was quite close to the Porcaros and in fact is often compared to Jeff (and perhaps the only one who does/can at that time
@@DidYouReadEULA Not Howard that’s Kevin Dukes.
He also toured with Jackson Brown and Billy Joel in the 1980s
Does it really matter who was playing the drums?
that keyboard solo 👍🏻🎶🎵😊
どうやら日本公演!?
貴重な動画をありがとうございます✨
Beautiful song out that super great and never ending music archive.
Love, love, love!
Hi.. there
How great is this ❤️
Absolutely brilliant my dear
The late great Carlos Vega on drums
Back in the 80s I had the same jean jacket that the guitar player is wearing at 2:35!
That is an ugly jacket.
This is from 1988 he was promoting “Other Roads”.
Ny favorite song
I love this song
Japanese people are the best. Level of respect and dignity that America severely lacks.
This song‼️ さらに日本語字幕とは!
Oh, It's so bad that I could not see it in person!
Despite a couple live flaws. This still is a great performance and original key of youth
The Bozz!
Fucking legend.
He is doing plenty in this clip.
'... Fuck when did I go to Asia?'
Carlos Vega !!!!!!!
I was thinking, "who the hell hired Greg from local church to play drums?"
That was so good,
Wow, John Krasinski was successful! He played Jim Halpert in The Office AND he was a professional singer!? Impressive!
Looks at camera...
instant classic
I think the Japanese always had a good taste in music.....and they did.
Playing this with a straight beat and not ghost notes really takes the wind out of the sails.
Hollywood Action🙏😁👍
One For The Road. Yup. That was just checked too. Three or four hundred feet from the Lido when it used to be there. Skip it!
Rest In peace.
Funny..the only time I ever heard Boz sing off-key (for the intro line to the song) but he caught himself pretty quickly...it occurs just before he says "he missed it!" Great song, love the band aside from this.
Lido missed the boat that day he left the shack
But that was all he missed
And he ain't comin' back
At a tombstone bar, in a juke joint car he made a stop
Just long enough to grab a handle off the top
Next stop Chi town, Lido put the money down, let 'em roll
He said one more job ought to get it
One last shot 'fore we quit it
One for the road
Lido
Whoah oh oh oh
He's for the money, he's for the show
Lido's waitin' for the go, Lido
Whoah oh oh oh oh oh
He said one more job ought to get it
One last shot 'fore we quit it
One more for the road
Lido will be runnin', havin' great big funnin' till he got the note
Sayin' toe the line or blow it and that was all she wrote
He'll be makin' like a bee line, headin' for the border line, goin' for broke
Sayin' one more hit ought to do it
This joint ain't nothin' to it
One more for the road
Lido
Whoah oh oh oh
He's for the money, he's for the show
Lido's waitin' for the go, Lido

YES
Where is this, Hokkaido? Or just a cold day in Tokyo?
Some one lost where they were at the end
What kind of weather are they playing in???
NuWorldMann japanese winter?
I’m guessing.....cold?
Cold weather, but for the duration of this song, the air over and around the stage was positively sizzling.
People should learn from this example
Fucking hell it's Bob carolgees on drums
Tokyo,Japan 10.20.1980
Los Angeles great sideman Adrian Tapia on Tenor
Boz Scaggs - Vocal, Guitar
Mike Landau - Guitar
Randy Kerber - Keyboards
Steve Plunkett - Keyboards
Mike Porcaro - Bass
Carlos Vega - Drums
That's definitely NOT Mike Porcaro on bass. And not Michael Landau on Bass.
Can't be Mike Porcaro on bass here. The bassist is black! I think it's Willie Weeks, who was still playing live with Boz in this decade.
@@ChristianMeermannDef. not Landau. I see him often in L.A. clubs.
epitome of cool
kevin duke, vanetta fields, alright!!
No Jeff Porcaro on drums but WOW this is music.
Thats Carlos Vega . L.A.Great from Cuba . Was a close friend of Jeff . They're both playing Grooves from the Heavens right now
it's okey!
Put breakdown dead ahead from this concert up
Ahhh berry good, everybody crapping. (say with Japanese accent)
lock n loll!
these are the in japan
Before autotune. Real talent
I miss jeff porcaro and the porcaro brothers.
who said the guitars weren't plugged in?
What’s Eric Clapton singing lido for ?
At 0:16 I think Boz smelled someone's fart
Sounds a little flat without the Porcaro brothers
I'm guessing they have no idea what he's saying 😏
Who’s the drummer? Can’t identify him,, it’s NoT Porcaro--
M. M. Carlos Vega
M. M. Its Carlos Vega..
Im sure he is sick of this song by now
If Elon Musk chose to sing instead... he would be like this.
I think he was off key for the first line of the song
Rough start, vocals out of key?
This is horrible MOR elevator muzak.
