When testing for a diamond that's mounted on a ring, necklace etc., you first need to make sure you're using your bare hands to hold the metal part of the jewelry. Make sure you are touching the metal plate on the back of the device. With only touching the diamond, you should be able to get a reading. If you accidentally touch the metal part of the jewelry, it is possible to get a false reading. All the other steps were demonstrated in this video.. If I am wrong in anyway, please notify me please.
I have the same tester I need help I'm stuck on a 6-carat emerald if you put that tester on this Emerald what will it do it would go will it go all the way up to Diamond or will it not move it all
Just a heads up, the first LED is number one, not zero. Yours was just printed off a little just count the total number of LEDs. There are are 4 green, 4 yellow and 4 red. 12 in all. No zero.
If anyone knows this question please help me I have the same tester if I put it on an emerald what will the tester read go all the way up to Diamond or nothing at all thank you
How do you test something if it is not loose. You can weigh your stones cuz they are not in a ring or necklace. How do you test if the diamond is in a ring or necklace or earrings? I also wanted to know can this machine be used to check if something is silver. Thanks. Hope you get back to me. Nore

@@insanity3335 I'm confused when you say make sure you are using your bare hand to hold the metal part of the jewelry, then at the end you say if you touch the metal part of the jewelry you can get a false reading. Should you touch the metal part of the jewelry or have it sitting on something and not touch it?
@@coltongray35 I see where it was confusing. I worded the sentence incorrectly. When testing a diamond that is mounted on a ring, make sure you are holding the jewelry with your bare hands (in other words, don't use gloves or lay the jewelry on the table while testing). There is a metal plate on the side of the device that needs to be touched with your skin while the diamond is being tested. With the tip of the device, make sure you are only touching the diamond/stone. If you touch the metal part of the jewelry with the tip of the device, it is possible to get a false reading. I feel like my second attempt was a little more understandable. Lol
I thought this was a good video but one thing in the instructions was not followed m. It says to test the Top of the Diamond straight not at angles. Does that affect the test ?
If the calibration table shows 1, set it to 1, read the instructions! You must hold the ring or test platform with your bare fingers and one finger should touch the metal on the back of the tester. This means you must always complete a circuit. RTFM!!!
Testers are not accurate when it come to hardness its only use to lab grown or synthetics diamond or moissenite, why not you buy pointed diamond tungsten carbide and do scratch test.
Very informative, I will check my diamonds using this technique
Does that tester work with other gemstones like emaralds, saphires ex. And if so,how do you use it to test those.?

That’s funny, other videos say that the 1st LED doesn’t count. Consider it Zero. Which concept is correct ?
Best video explains how to actually use this tester

So weird I got the same tester from Amazon but when I hit metal or gold it still beeped diamond ... I think my one isn’t accurate...
You have to touch the back of the metal while you hold it on to the metal. It will beep fast and not diamond
The instructions I received mentioned that if you accidentally touch metal, it could give a false reading for diamonds.
You never mentioned that you have to touch the metal plate on the back !

Ebay took 3 days
These testers are junk and a waste of money. They often cannot tell the difference between a diamond and moissanite.
