Having seen every single Heartstopper reaction I've loved that every straight reactor immediately loves Nick. Every single one, it's great and proves how awesome Kit Connor is in this role.
Well while Nick is likeable even as a character but we’re also seeing Nick from Charlie’s perspective (at least in first episode) who sees Nick as epitome of perfection.

The actor who played Charlie had to ask the other guys to run slower because he was supposed to be so much faster than them but he wasn't able to run that fast.
Joe Locke has also said that he ended up nearly physically sick from trying too hard. Apparently he sat for a while with a bucket between his legs fearing he might barf.
This show is like chicken noodle soup for your soul. It warms you right up and helps heal some of the trauma a lot of us faced as queer kids or even adults. This show would’ve been life changing as a kid in the 90s but even now it still can be. I don’t expect you guys to fully understand that aspect of the show but I hope you can enjoy it for its wholesome and heartwarming nature anyway!
Another good show is Skam, a Norwegian teen drama. It's 4 short seasons covering the stresses that teens go through, as seen through the eyes of one main character per season (but S3 is the one for particular LGBTQ+ interest). The actors were pretty much the age of their characters, with some of them being actual students at the school used as the main setting. Directing and acting are phenomenal.
I'm glad you guys are watching this show in particular now to heal you from the depression that was Normal People. This one is super cute and it warms me up inside

Really healing watching straight guys (afaik) root for a boys love narrative. I think it’s just the general shift in acceptance since I was growing up. There are of course plenty of whole groups who despise us and maybe I’ve just gotten better at choosing who I surround myself with, but in the straight spaces I frequent it’s been nice to see a change from hated to tolerated to genuinely celebrated. 🥰🏳️🌈 On another note, I was obsessed with this show when it came out. I may have watched it over 10 times now since it’s such a quick binge. Soundtrack also slaps. 🙌🏽
I usually can't consume teen specific media anymore but I watched this because of it's queer themes. It's so cheesy and yet so unexpectedly genuine and touching somehow!
This is such an important show and it was executed perfectly. The inclusion of the comic style is just a brilliant nod to its roots and the cast, script, soundtrack everything is jug exceptional. I'm so glad that there is a beautiful love story out there for younger people to watch. I wish I had this when I was younger and figuring myself out.
The web comic it was adapted from by Alice Oseman brought me so much happiness and feelings of acceptance. I was so excited when Alice got the opportunity to make her books into a show and write the scripts for it. It does deal with a lot of heavy issues, but the first season is definitely the calmest and it just makes me feel so emotional, but also warm and fluffy, I can't wait to follow your journey through this masterpiece!

Yes! 😊 I've watched many reactors talk about this show. Most were women (both straight and LGBT+), so I thought I'd look to see how men responded. (I decided I couldn't tell whether the men were straight or not just by looking at them. [Which is one of the points of the TV show, btw.]) (Some of the LGBT+ men reactors labelled themselves for the viewers; so far I haven't found any men reactors who came out as straight, though.) Why am I like this? I just like to see varieties in outlooks. ****** I, too, found these men reactors (Bryce, Zuff, and Rob) to be very respectful of the content and ideas. 💖 (Sometimes one of the guys seems to be stoned, but even so, he shows he has a good heart, albeit a goofy one.) 💖
Kit is the known actor, but I feel like Charlie is really the main character… at least in this first season. Nick definitely has his own journey, but the story is mainly told through Charlie’s perspective. He’s the one who’s dating a jackass, he’s the one dealing with the after effects of bullying, and he’s the one who crushes on Nick first. He’s also the centre of the main friend group… Nick’s friends at this point are mainly jerks or just not flushed out as characters.
Yeah Charlie is the main character, I suppose Nick is after a bit aswell. Don't get me wrong I adore nick/kit but I wish people would also appreciate joe/Charlie more because it feels he's very much underappreciated. Funny that you guys mention Paul Mescal and Normal People. Paul gave a exceptionally warm introduction to Joe & Kit at the GQ Men of the Year awards last year, and Kit was clearly touched, saying he'd watched Normal People several times & that it had changed his life.
Rob was kinda describing more of Young Royals with the intense, mental health issues, & heavy topics in the intro. This one does speak on SA, bullying, and other things but it's sweeter than anything.
What I really liked about this series was that it seemed like a high school series actually set in high school. The emotions, the storyline, etc. all seemed very very plausible to happen in a real high school.

Just so you're aware, Joe Locke (Charlie) and Sebastian Croft (Ben Hope) are IRL best of friends from their work on the set. To the point of rumors and a large fan base shipping them in case it turns out to be more. Also Kit Connor (Nick) and Cormac Hyde-Corrin (Harry, the blonde kid on the rugby team who complained about Charlie being gay in the lockerroom) have a strong in-person friendship from their time on the set. (And yes, Kit and Joe actually get on quite well as friends as well as co-stars, but they each have stronger bonds with their other co-stars). Also, Kit Connor was not treated well by fans who felt that the actor owed them something. They accused him and the show of gay-baiting because Kit preferred to remain silent on his personal preferences until he was pretty much hounded into making a statement and then walking away from social media for a while with a horrible (and deserved) resentment of those douche canoes and their cyberbullying. Which is exactly what it was. Just interesting facts as the show goes on. Love that you love it so far.
I love watching reactions of people who haven't read the books. Aside from a couple of characters, there isn't much of a difference. Joe is a wonderful actor. This was his first role and his next big one is in the MCU.

As a millennial, I never saw aro-ace represention on screen (or in any media actually) so I wasn't aware of being aro-ace myself. Then, this show came out and I saw myself in one of the characters and I just got it. Now I finally know who I am at 31 and I've never felt better 🥰

Olivia Colman did too. And joe Locke was nominated! And the show itself won a bunch of Emmy’s for screenplay etc. It really is such an excellent show with phenomenal acting. The fact that this is Joe locke’s first acting role is crazy. He makes me so emotional in some scenes. And Kit is incredible as well. Joe deserved that nomination and Kit really deserved the win.

Olivia Colman did too. And joe Locke was nominated! And the show itself won a bunch of Emmy’s for screenplay etc. It really is such an excellent show with phenomenal acting. The fact that this is Joe locke’s first acting role is crazy. He makes me so emotional in some scenes. And Kit is incredible as well. Joe deserved that nomination and Kit really deserved the win.
