The whole cinematic in this episode is superior. The lightning, rainbow, bi lightning, and then these excellent acting performance. I mean they were only 17 back then and had cameras all around and still they managed to give us so many emotions, angst and tenderness. That little hint of jealously in Nick's eyes when Charlie mentions Ben? The way he won't let go of his hand again? The short breaths when realizing Nick kind of outed himself to Charlie...they are so excellent.
Correction Charlie was 14, Nick was 16, not to spoil it for those waiting on Corey and Jason to do the later episodes, Charlie has his 15th Birthday after this episode. And yes, the ACTORS were 17 at the time of filming, but you referred to the names of the characters they portrayed, who were 14 (Charlie) and 16 (Nick). This is canon. ❤️🏳️🌈🤗
Well, Nick's actor started his career in acting when he was little. So yes he was still 17, but he had a lot of experience. Doesn't change the fact that he's really good though.
For me its the fingers and the feet inching toward each other. Because in real life, its those moments in the early stages of a relationship" that are filled with pure terror and electricity. Relationships are not universally relatable, but I think everyone can relate to those moments.

It is so sad that you keep expecting bad things to happen bc basically every show we are represented in has bad stuff happening all the time and only bits of happiness, but this show is just so positive without disregarding the bad stuff.
I can also feel the confusion, the dilemma what Nick's felt, when he was searching for an answer. His teary eyed, I almost cry, too. And the kiss, so sweet and innocent! Love you two, take care always!❤️
The ending of this episode gets to me every time. It has really become one of my favorite episodes, not that there aren’t other favorite episodes to come. By the way I understand things, Tao and Elle aren’t dating, just very good friends. I also suspect that Isaac, being a very perceptive character, bows out of movie night on purpose so that it can be just Tao and Elle together. And I can confirm from a little research that Cormac Hyde-Corrin, who plays Harry, is British and was born in London.
I remember when I was 14, Charlie’s age, my curfew was 9:00pm, or as soon as street lights came on. Funny enough as an adult I give myself the same curfew now, cause I can’t be bothered, I need my beauty sleep and rest 🤣
They went through the entire cast making you think there’d be a kiss with others. And they showed so much restraint by leaving the animations out and just let the weight of the moment speak for itself

Doing a another rewatch of this show made me realize how often they show Nick & Charlie’s colors throughout. The blue & yellow is seen all the time. On the Netflix poster, the school hallways, the picnic tables at the front and back of the school, their gym bags, their clothes in that last scene of this episode, the umbrella in the next episode. There is so much focus on details like that it amazes me. Loved the reaction again! Cracking me up with the ideas about what the “Kiss” would be! 😂
I’ve seen a few people comment that they’re surprised they didn’t have fireworks etc on Nick and Charlie’s first kiss…but I think that’s the point. That their relationship is so powerful and special that they didn’t need anything else. The kiss was enough on its own. ☺️

I love that you go through the same emotions as me as I watched it for the first time. With every scene I thought the kiss would be between other ‚couples‘. I have watched a few reaction videos to heartstopper and I think it is pretty telling how lgbtq+ characters get represented in media when every single one of us predicted horrible miscommunication, heartbreak, tears and drama and was downright surprised and touched by the sweetness and innocence of heartstopper.
