  • Hello and welcome back to the Big Block Rock Van build!
In this video we're getting back on the Rock Van project and installing 3 upgrades from Hobby Plus! We're doing the inner fender kit, the high clearance links, and the servo on axle conversion kit. I really love how this build is coming along. It's just such a great performer on the trail and these parts only make it better! This will probably be the last of the upgrades on this build and we will be painting up a themed body in the next one.
Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time!

Enjoyed the video - gave us some great ideas for my husband's project. Looking forward to the next one.

nice video. I received my axles, links & motor today. Looking to order the shocks as well as the axle on servo conversion kit from rcawd. I do have the driveshafts. but like you said. the front was too long which was weird. so just running the rear at the moment. but now I feel confident in putting the bigger motor in with the links and servo on axle conversion due to this video. thanks again man. PS I need to order that motor mount/skid plate too lol

Woohoo looks like you’ve already got a BIG upgrade to install. Those axles need grease but they make a huge difference in stability! Just take your time and you’ll be just fine installing everything. The CR18P chassis is not the easiest to work on but it’s mostly a patience thing. Thanks for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful to you. Definitely let me know if you have any questions about installing any of this stuff.

Hola! Gracias por la información! Es necesario cambiar los engranajes de los ejes con el motor grande?

No. Usé los ejes originales durante un tiempo y no se rompieron. Estoy usando el traductor de Google, ¡lo siento si mi español es malo!

I just installed the 370 motor/gearbox and am also unimpressed by how open the trans is. Has it been a problem for you? Found any tidy way to close it up a bit? Mine also mounts to the skid with just two screws on the short end of the gearbox.
My stock steering is very course and limited in its cycling, think the SOA will help?

I haven’t found any good way to close up the gear box, I have just let it be and haven’t had any issues yet. I still don’t love the way it’s designed but it hasn’t done anything to validate my concern. I like the servo on axle setup. I don’t think I had any issues with the stock setup but the servo on axle setup works very nicely and puts that servo weight right over the front axle. It IS a little bit of a bear to install without instructions but with a little time and patience I think anyone could get it done. Thanks for watching!
