What I don't get, even if the stats said 8o% women are playing the games, how does that equal that women want games that are boring and have ugly characters. I am a woman who is 53. I don't play candy crush at all though I do play...once in a, homescape, but only if I can't sleep. My mom likes games with action and cute guys. My sister likes games with more puzzle oriented play. I get to find games that have both to play for them. I like both, which is, I love the action but I like to slow it down and solve a puzzle here and there. I also am kind of tired of how long cut scenes have become lately but, I won't go off on that tangent right now. You're telling the lie, dude. The appearance of women in western games all comes down to many factors. Firstly, they're using new technology they haven't yet perfected. Why they want to use technology is simply so that the game looks as cinematic as possible. You will notice differences when developers move to a new engine they just started using. You'll focus a lot on Mary Jane, but what about Peter? Of course you're not interested in looking at any of the other Spider-Man characters that appeared in both games. Another advantage to using face capturing is that faces can have a working network of muscles and wrinkles that naturally move when characters talk and make specific expressions. This is also very important when you want to make an immersive game with cutscenes that play like a movie. Other factors include the skill of the developer, or that's how the face model actually looks. Aloy's face model Hannah Hoekstra actually looks like that. Japanese games simply don't have face models. They create faces from scratch. That's very easy to do when you have a skilled designer, but the two main setbacks is that there are no face muscles or wrinkles, and the character obviously looks more cartoony than like a real human being. The Stellar Blade director admitted most Japanese developers don't bother to do facial scanning, because it's too hard to use. So they just stick with traditional design and sculpt faces from scratch. Also, you're looking at polls from Capcom's customers, not a broad swath of customers that play a variety of different games. It's very misleading to say this poll is representative of all gamers. Red Dead Redemption 2 sold over 64 million copies, and all that you do in that game is shoot outlaws, ride horses, and tumble down cliffs. Millions of people find it satisfying to play this game that feels like a movie or a TV series. Funny, which company actually started the Red Dead franchise?
How do you know that Stellar Balde is considered as a success by Shift-Up. So far as I can tell, they haven't publicly showed any data regarding the sales numbers or said that the game achieved their expectations. Don't get me wrong, I hope that it is successful, but them silencing after nearly mouth after release is weird, because companies normally announce such things pretty fast if a game was a success for the company.
@@mikebytheway This doesn't automatically mean that is was successful enough for the company and the competition wasn't really there either. Spider man 2 was the fastest selling PS game ever and it still barley managed to bring the cost in that went for the development of the game. Unless Shift-Up makes an official announcement, there is no way for us to know if the internal expectations were achieved or not, because we don't know how much it cost them to make the game and the marketing campaign was pretty intense for this game, probably also consumed a ton of money
