    How can you say he is poor.It seems to me he has his own business and probably has enough knowledge to fix almost anything mechanical. He probably likes what he does, and seems to be good at it. He is making a living by providing a service, And by the look on his face, he enjoys what he does, and is proud of it.

      Yes and with his skills, other items beyond bottle jack will find their way to him for repair,.....I have countless times seen pallet jack trucks in the scrap yard in Piqua OH , mostly thrown away bc they "don't work" anymore. I have three working pallet jack trucks , one is an expensive 8000 lb lift, and a man recently GAVE me a 5500# tuvk with a non operative lift function. Also for the ones that poo-poo and diminish this mans skills, consider that air-assisted hydraulic jacks are coming into wider use, even Harbor Freight sells several models , these are not so carelessly tossed when they cease functioning. Also consider that the great increase in platform man lifts......... are all hydraulic , I saw on today that I believe has 5 hydraulic cylinders

      You don't need a "seal kit". Just go to a store that sells stuff like that. Usually a shop that sells bearings and bushings also sell o rings and seals. At least around here where i live. And you can buy them by piece and it costs pennies.

    Great service he provides. If I'd knew where he is, I'd send him two of my bottle jacks for repair if possible. 😂. But seriously, most affordable home-repairer stuff in my country is sold by automotive discounters often of Chinese production. If you don't use it often it lasts some years, but regardless, the rams are badly finished and seals wear out or perish. Replacement parts are not available, labour cost is too high and so it is cheaper to buy another from the discounter. And so it goes on whether you like it or not.
    Obviously repair is an option in his country where they recycle or reuse more than westerners who mostly dream of doing the same. Good on him!

      No point in doing it if you don't replace any seals or the fluid...... the guy probably "rebuilds" the same jacks every two weeks and thinks he is adding value as a service....... he's actually costing the businesses more money by doing a shitty job, they'd be better off investing in a new jack than having a half assed repair done on this one......

The issue with them is the chevron seals are difficult to source. I wonder what he does although it looks like they only use bottle jacks there.

    A lot of impoverished countries have these road side cottage services that affluent countries disallow. Here in the U.S. that bottle jack would be tossed in the garbage as the only way to repair it would be to send it back to the manufacture, who would charge more to repair it then the original cost, or not even be able to repair it because it was made in China, or repair it by one self.

    • @sjv6598
      @sjv6598 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sending back to manufacture to repair isn’t the only solution. He’s just shown you in 6 minutes how easy it is to strip clean and reassemble. A few new orings and your jack is working again. In this case it was a little dirt in the check valve.
