I don’t agree with you that the Nazis “stole” the guillotine from the French. They copied the design and built their own, modified guillotine. The guillotine, BTW, was also adapted in Sweden, where it was only used once, and probably in other countries as well. A device rather like the guillotine had been used in Italy in the Middle Ages, and then there was the ‘Halifax gibbet’ in the North of England. So the guillotine was not a modern invention at all.

But it really seems the more time went buy, that happened less. We did WW2 in late primary. Then in history at HS. But the majority was around the war itself, v little on the NAZIS & Holocaust. The majority of knowledge I have is due to places like history channel, or YT channels such as this. Could be way off but wonder if there's a link in the rise of far right extremism across Europe & UK over the last 10-20 yrs. And a decline in being taught about this side of the war. And the screwed up philosophies that led to form all the NAZI ideology. We can't let this just become another era resigned to history books, & taught v little.

It seemed to be hundreds of years before. We all pop in to this time flow for just a short time. I see it can not be prevented. There's a massive shift, esp in Europe, looking at individual countries, to the far right. The stats are there - But yup over the last few yrs a lot of liberals have been moving further to the extreme left. And over the last year, there's been a huge new swing off left-wing voters embracing more extreme views. The effect on the younger generation, especially from that, is concerning fs. But just because that's what we see on the ever growing left-wing media. They've no choice at times to report on right-wing extremists that. It doesn't mean there's not just as much growth to the far right. But with what feels like the world turning to politically correct insane, this isn't always reported. So you have to actually look at stats. So, tbh I'm unsure what data you're arguing against. The figs show a growth across Europe that was growing. Looking at figs looks like in Scandinavian countries back when Anders Breivik committed the attacks there. Really the point wasn't so much to do with far right. But more that everything seems to be going full circle. The growing anti semitism in many, 1 European nation invading another, this time around. More time at war during my lifetime than not.

While watching the West becomes more & more divided . It's exactly what they want. The history education we got was really pretty bad. I don't get why more aren't looking at the mix of anti semitism / Putins invasion of Ukraine. Ironically, so close to Poland, the US para troopers along Polish border.
