    I have read that even children with learning disabilities wete tajen away from their homes and killed although the family would be told that the child had died of some illness or other. One man remembered how his 4 year old brother was taken against his parents' wishes. The parents were told it was in the child's best interests to be in a state run facility. He never saw his brother again because a few weeks later, they were told that the child had died of pneumonia! It only cane out after the war how the brother and other children gad been murdered because they were not "perfect".

    How Long Can You Survive Decapitation?
    In 1905, a French physician sought to find out. He attended an execution and stood close to the guillotine. He approached as soon as the severed head tumbled into the basket below and called out the man’s name.
    He claimed the eyelids lifted and the man looked briefly at him before lowering his gaze. The physician called his name again and received a similar response. The man did not respond to a third prompt. The physician concluded based on his observations that a severed head could retain consciousness for 25 to 30 seconds.

      Oxygen was discovered independently by Joseph Priestly, Carl Scheele and Antoine Lavoisier. Lavoisier was denounced during the Reign of Terror and sentenced to death. The story goes that, scientist to end, he arranged to have his friend on the scaffold. He told the friend “I will try and blink my eyes for as long as I can.” Accounts differ, but apparently he was able to blink somewhere between 13 and 16 times.
      Right now, you’re probably timing that out.

    • @HistoryGe3k
      @HistoryGe3k หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@heskrthmatt - they have done other experiments where blinking one eye meant YES, and the other eye NO. They were able to communicate for about 15seconds. Later they learnt if they injected blood into the skull directly after the eyes closed (fresh blood for the brain), the eyes opened up again. Interesting stuff. If you watch some of the ISIS decapitations and zoom in, when they put the head on the shoulders of the victim, they eyes continue to check out both their decapitated neck as well as their general surroundings. Their eyes show that they are conscious for at least 15 seconds.

      The last public execution was a German criminal and serial killer who was executed by guillotine in France in June 1939, there's a video of it on TH-cam if you search for it. In addition to France and French colonies at was also used in Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Sweden. I remember reading a book written by a US judge who had been sent to Germany for the Nuremberg trials. When he saw what was going on he wanted no part of it and returned to the US. He said the Nuremberg trials made it a crime to lose a war. Any written "evidence" was accepted and the ones on trial were not allowed to question any of the evidence, often only written recollections or a note on a scrap of paper with an unsupported accusation.

      As Martin Luther King pointed out in his Letter from Birmingham Jail, an immoral law is no law at all. Morality is objective and individuals are not excused from following an immoral law. Society can and sometimes is corrupted by civil laws and citizens must not apply or comply but passively resist. Look at the example of the US that murders 1 million babies a year. It's an atrocity.

      Allegedly, such practices by nurses were done to reduce oxygen hunger and pain to actively dying patients. This might include pain from spinal metastases, and pain from oxygen starvation for people in the final stages of lung damage. Pain from cancer death is very real. There are times prior to coma when the pain is unbearable due to pressure on somatic nerves.
      The German approach was an active, Darwinian backed response to the concept of “improvement” and complimenting the “superior” German species.

      Wernicke is definitely NOT a Polish last name. As for the other, she may have been born in a mixed Polish&German family which was quite common in the Polish territories occupied by Germans between 1772 and 1918. Children born in such families were raised as Poles or Germans according to their parents' wishes and some siblings identifying themselves as Germans while others recognized themselves to be Poles were not unusual, either. Even when people commit heinous acts, they must be tried justly by the law. The Allies at the end of the war were supposed to be the noble, Christian ones. Instead, many former Nazis and others who worked with them were executed in heinous ways. This was done out of vengeance, not justice. To this day, those unjust actions still live spiritually and haunt the landscape where they happened.
